Come for the Roundup – Stay for a Vacation in Colorful Colorado!

Jeff Romeo and Tom Hutton host the CVOA's first ever visit to the Mile High City.
Plan on some great events in the thin-air shadows of the Rockies.

Maybe even take your Cosworth to the top of Pike's Peak.

Of course you could visit the Denver Mint.

You can't miss Estes Park/Rocky Mountain National Park either.

Detailed Roundup Preview

Here's a detailed look at the Roundup.  The Roundup hotel (Ramada Plaza Hotel and Convention Center) is located at I-25 and 120th Avenue.  It is an easy on and off to all metro locations.  The rate of only $72.00 a night covers a double occupancy and includes breakfast.  The hotel will honor this rate for addition days either directly before or after the convention, so come for the Roundup and stay for a great Colorado vacation.  We will have a Hospitality Room on the 6th floor.   Bench racing coupled with adult beverages no longer need be in the parking lot, especially since the Northglenn Police Department is but one short block away.

August 6, 2010, Friday

Check-in from noon to 5:00 pm.

7:00pm--?  Opening remarks from your hosts Jeff Romeo and Tom Hutton and the CVOA Directors' Meeting

August 7, 2010, Saturday

Free breakfast for hotel guests.

9:00 am  Assemble and caravan to TEBO-Car Museum in Longmont

10:00 am-12:00 am TEBO Museum tour

The TEBO Car Museum (aka Tebo's Garage) has approximately 300 cars, trucks, and motorcycles.  It is a PRIVATE Museum not open to the public.  It contains a beautiful Dusenberg and Steve McQueen's Army motorcycle just to name two attractions.  The curator is looking forward to talking with us as he is a former Cosworth Vega owner himself.

12:00-2:00 pm  Lunch and caravan to Shelby American Collection

2:00-4:00 pm  Tour the Shelby American Collection

This is the largest collection of genuine Shelby Cobras, Mustangs, and GT40's in the world.  It has two, YES TWO, Cobra Daytona Coupes.  One is blue and the other is a red Privateer from England.  Both are documented cars.   Most people have never seen even one in the flesh.

Saturday night—An optional event from 5:00 pm to midnight in Golden, Colorado, about 30 minutes from the hotel.  The city is home to the Golden Super Cruise on the first Saturday of the month.  Each month it hosts approximately 1500 hot rods, customs, late models, low riders, trailer queens, and race cars.  It has been written up in national magazines.  I've seen everything from GT 40's and Ferraris to wild customs and muscle cars, but Cosworth Vegas might be a first.

August 8, 2010, Sunday

Free breakfast for hotel guests

9:00 am to 12:00 noon  Concours De Elegance and/or Show and Shine if you don't want to be judged.

12:00-5:00 pm  Autocross if demand and availability exist.  This event is not firm yet as I have no idea what demand exists this year.  Also still checking on track availability.  SCCA has an event that weekend but it is a two hour drive one way.  This is not reasonable in my view.  So I'm checking with other clubs to tag along with if possible.  If not, another fun event will be substituted.

7:00-10:00 pm  CVOA Banquet at the hotel.  Great food, awards, and a speaker if possible.

August 9, 2010, Monday

7:30 am ?  Farewell Breakfast at the hotel.

10:00-5:00  Optional if demand warrants.  We could tour

The Clive Cussler Museum

and/or

The Forney Museum of Transportation
