It is with an extremely heavy heart and tear in my eye that I have to post this. Dick Baumhauer, CVOA Hall Of Fame Member, Former CVOA President, CVOA Historian, CVOA VP of Merchandise, CVOA National Roundup Concours Award Winner and CVOA Speed Event Winner has passed away today. He is survived by his wife, Judy, two Children (Rick and Beth) and grandchildren. Dick was so much more than an accomplished CVOA Member. He was a friend, a part of the Family. He will be missed. Dick touched many people's lives in such a positive way. His laughter, stories, friendliness, and so much more will be missed for years in so many ways. He had wisdom, character, integrity, and a gentleness about him. I can say I was always in awe to be around him, and in awe to be honored to be his friend. Many of you have been around Dick with the CVOA. He went to National Roundups, Regional Roundups, and helped to create an image of what and how a CVOA Member should be. I know his presence will be missed by all of you. I hope that his Memory and Spirit will be remembered and felt in the CVOA for a long time to come. I am honored that I was able to induct him into the CVOA Hall of Fame in 2020, so that he could understand how much he meant to our Organization. I will absolutely miss him greatly this summer at the Car Events we had planned to attend. I have been entrusted by Dick to get CV #3136, The Golden Eagle IMSA RS Series Race Car back to roadworthiness. And, in his Memory I will do all I can to get that car back on the Track. Dick was a racer, a tinkerer, a speed demon. And this car will be a tribute to him, from me. There is so much more to say, feelings to feel, and heartache to endure with Dick's passing. He was a Great Man. I hope you all will share a Memory of how Dick touched your life, whether in the CVOA World or in the World at large. He was just such a Great Man. (I know I have used that term a bit here, but he really was!) I will miss him tremendously. He had such a great impact on me in many ways, within the CVOA and outside of it. Heck, he was my Dad's boss for a while! I am just so sad to have to pass this news on. You Will be Missed Mr. Baumhauer! John J. Cowall CVOA President

The 2022 National Roundup will be held in Phoenix, AZ. It will be in November to avoid our famous warm weather. November 18 – 19 – 20 of 2022. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before Thanksgiving. The date is set to coincide with the Good-guys car show in Scottsdale, AZ. ( a few miles away ). This will likely be most of the day Sunday so Friday and Saturday will be out club activity days. It should be warm enough to take the chill and your mind off Winter. I am sending this early note out to let you think about this location and, in particular, if you wish to extend your stay and go to the Grand Canyon. More later. Driving time from Phoenix to: South Rim Grand Canyon 3.5 hr South Rim Grand Canyon to North Rim Grand Canyon – 20 miles away : 4 hr Lake Havasu City 3.5 hr Winslow ( Meteor Crater ) and Flat bed Ford 3 hr Las Vegas 5 hr Grand Canyon Skywalk glass bridge 6.5 hr Tucson 2 hr It takes about 1 hr to drive from one side of Phoenix to the other November Temps in Phoenix at 1000 ft are 86 F and a low of 59 F. The Grand Canyon at 6500 ft is 61 F and low of 30 F Phoenix has: Zoo, Botanical Garden, AZ Heritage Center, Heard Museum for Native American Art, Several Historical Museums, Arizona Museum of Natural History, Pueblo Grande Ruins (downtown), Casa Grande Ruins (30 miles away), a couple of Rail Road Museums, Lots of hiking, Several Gambling Casinos, Tempe Beach Park which is a river walk area near ASU. Mecum car auction is in March, Barrett-Jackson auto auction is in April. Greenfield and Guadalupe Riparian Preserve ( a lake in town ), Martin Auto Museum, Even a Frank Lloyd Wright House. Grand Canyon - to stay IN the Park one needs to make reservation through Xanterra . Xanterra also books for the Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel . The train leaves Williams, AZ and goes to the South Rim. One needs to either book online, beginning at Midnight, or at 7 AM for phone calls, ONE YEAR ahead of the desired stay. You can try to book later but things fill up and space may not be available. Go online or talk to them. Tusayan is the closest town just outside the Park with lots of hotels. Jim Rigg will be the Host for this Roundup! He has some Great Plans, and Joining with the Good Guys Car Show really helps promote our Cars to the Car Culture World!!!

A new Feature has been added to the CVOA Website! Go the home page, click on "The Gallery" tab, and then Click on "Regional Roundup Photos". You can see a collection of some CVOA Regional Roundups that have been held over the years. Also, if you have photos of old Regional Roundups, you can add them as well! Click on the "Upload Photos" box and add your pics! It takes about 24 hours to process the photos and organzie them correctly by Regional Roundup Event, so be a little patient when uploading. ITs such a cool feature! THANK YOU TO Bryan Pridmore for reminding us we needed this on the Website!

Well, started the engine tear down after breaking the cam belt. Pulled the cam carrier cover off, and found this. The intake cam broke! I also found two tappet bucket shims cracked. After pulling the head, I found at least 4 valves were bent. Luckily, the bottom end is still good. No damage to the pistons. So, I'll be getting a new intake cam (430 lift Crane Cam), and replacing the valves. This is a 2.4L engine with a ported head and 11 to 1 compression pistons.

CV #1615 has its heart beating once again! Probably last ran when I was in high school in the early 90s. Carbs are seriously out of tune, and I didn't check timing. But its running and sounds pretty decent for a first fire up! Now the fun begins, putting an efi on this car, then starting to get her roadworthy! Car has about 28,000 miles on her.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, I just wanted to give you all a quick update. I anticipate the Q3 Magazine to come out about the first or Second week of October. I know everyone wants the National Roundup Review, and I want to be able to share the experience with those of you who could not make it, as well as other great info that has come my way for the Magazine. The delay is due to my wife and I buying a new home in July. It has been a hectic experience, and we have had some set backs in the function of the home! (I have to get the main bathroom completely redone! And, last night, experienced some major plumbing issues!) I want to get all of these fixed before I can start on the Magazine. I hope everyone understands, and hopefully you will all be very happy with the Magazine when I get it out! Thank You, John J. Cowall CVOA President and Magazine Editor

It took 4 full days! JC, myself, and countless trailer and truck loads and we did it. Emptied out the old garage and filled the new one. Oh, and we tore down 2 walls to make more useable space! (Yes, the walls were not load bearing, we checked. ) Official move in date to the new home is July 10th!
