This auction is for a 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega. Chevrolet built these cars in 75 and 76 and they
were the first fuel injected overhead cam engines produced in America. At the time of production they
were priced right up there with a new Corvette. That was around $6500.00 compared to a regular top
of the line Vega at around $2800.00. They were produced in very limited numbers and both years
combined, approximately 3507 Cosworth Vegas were produced. Each one was issued it's own
production number. This one is # 2713. This car has had a performance modification to the engine by a
company called Hutton. They are well known by the Vega owners as a highly respected performance
company for the Cosworth. The blue tag seen in the engine picture gives all the specs and even lists the
owner’s name. This modification boosted the horsepower to over 155 from the 4 cylinder engine and in
this very light car it performs very well. Modifications include cast cylinder sleeves, forged high comp
pistons, balanced, multi angle valve job, hot cam, dual Weber carbs and much more. I was told by the
former owner that this conversion alone cost over $3500.00 and only has approx. 1500 miles on it since
completed. The car is in great shape with no rust problems. Solid floors and underbody. It has four
brand new tires, complete new exhaust system and new clutch. It is very dependable, you can drive it
anywhere and it even still gets good gas mileage with the twin Webers and performance mods. The
body is nice and seems to have had a repaint at some time. The paint is nice but does have a few chips
and one scratch area on the right fender and door. It also comes with the original build sheet. VIN:
1V7706UI85998, black, gray sport cloth seats, dash bezel gold removed, twin exhaust tips indicate
modified exhaust. ptsviper@aol.com Yahoo post referenced in 8/22/2004

Well I just finished filling out my application to the CVOA and will be dropping it in the mail tomorrow. It
seems I am the proud owner of #2713, a 1976 black Cosworth. This will be my first Cosworth as I have
always wanted one and although looked at getting one back in the 80's, never got around to it until
now. I hope that everyone welcomes me. The car has had 3 previous owners (1 of them <1 yr) and I
purchased it off eBay. I did my homework prior to purchasing it and found the last two previous owners
and talked to each one. It is Black with hounds tooth interior, rear defog, (swing‐outs? Don’t know),
58,100 miles, am‐fm 8 track factory missing ( I will try and replace) 5 speed, 4.10 rear end, Hutton
rebuild with less than 2,000 miles on, including DCOE Webbers, BDE hot cam, forged racing pistons
9.5:1, sleeved, stainless valves, etc. (I talked to Karl Hutton). It has had new cam belt, dist belts
replaced, new tires raised whites, new clutch and exhaust, wheels been refinished and new carpet.
Purchase price was $3600 and I had the auction pulled early. Buying my first CV was a hard one and an
exhaustive decision process. I looked at a lot of cars that is for sure, some low mileage, some never
driven never titled, and some with Hutton rebuilds... What to buy was not so much of what I wanted but
what made practical sense. I wish to thank everyone who helped me and coached me through this and
also all those sellers I talked to that showed me their cars that were for sale. They were all very nice, I
was trying to find my niche what suited me best. In buying this first car, I decided that for what I wanted
in being able to drive it once in awhile and take it to car shows, and not knowing much about CV's as I
will be learning. That it was best to go with something that has been all gone over and had a fresher
rebuild with the Hutton Webbers. As I learn more about working on the CV's, the day will come when I
will get perhaps a 2nd CV low mileage that I can restore and sit in my garage and look pretty. But for
right now, I want to restore and detail this one best that I can and have some fun with it. Thanks again
for all the comments and help and I will have many more questions in weeks to come. I can’t wait to get
the car as I haven't seen it yet and will give everyone my first impression on what it is like to drive a
Cosworth for the first time. Bruce (#2713). Cape Coral, Florida. Membership expired 8/1/2004

I have here a Cosworth Vega for-sale, this car has around 66,000 miles. This one has some surface rust, half dollar size of rust on rear inner quarter panel another around the same size front corner passenger floor. Battery box area rusted out. This is a complete car with matching spare wheel. I am having fuel tank cleaned, I have already cleaned fuel lines new low pressure pump. This car will crank up on gas poured in throttle body, that's why I am repairing the fuel system. The is number 2716 out of the factory. Not many of these were made, I think 3508 all together, and only 1447 made in 1976. This car is black on black with gold striping. This is a complete car waiting for the right owner. The VIN is 1V77O6U186163. EBay, February, 2013. Offered again in August with the following text: up for bids is a 1976 Chevy Cosworth Vega!!!!! Car will start when you spray gas in intake, Needs a fuel pump. Guy I bought it from bought a Vega fuel pump for  a carburetor car. As you know Cosworths are fuel injected. Needs a high pressure fuel pump for fuel injection, there are a couple tears in driver's seat as you can see in the pictures. The car has some surface rust on the rooftop, and the paint has some rust blisters here and there. There are NO eat out spots on body anywhere, just the battery box which is common with all Vegas. The car has 66,000 on odometer which is believed to be correct, Tail light lenses are busted. I have one new one in the trunk need one more, Gas tank has been taken off and has been completely refurbished--just needs to be mounted back....any other questions feel free to call or text 336-399-3781 thanks Terry, East Bend, NC.

According to a February 2010 membership application, this car belongs to Charles J. Janes of Jackson,
MI. The VIN is 1V77O6U186344. He reports: I originally bought the car to V8 it, but, beings how this is
a classic Vega, I'm looked around and found a 73 GT that already has been V8'ed. I don't have the time
to restore this Cosworth, so I am gonna sell it to someone who will restore it as I don't want to ruin it
with a V8. I figure the car should be worth about 4000 as is. What do you think? It is complete and the
person I bought it from assured me that it runs, but has a miss. That is why he started to take the intake
and header off it. I guess I got the wiring wrong because I can't get it to turn over. I talked to the guy a
couple days later and he told me not to buy a new starter as he had no problem with it. He brought it up
to Michigan 2 months ago from Nevada. If you know someone who would want it to restore, let me
know. The VIN is 1V7706U186344, and it is a Florida title dated 1979, and I can get you all the pics you
want. I have confirmed it is a Cosworth, It is all original, and it has a 4 speed trans. It is number 2719,
according to the dash plaque. It needs interior as it is dry rotted from sitting, has 5 Cosworth aluminum
rims and the body is very solid, no rust, holes, or dents, and it is complete. It has about 64k on the
odometer I believe. If you don't know anyone interested in it, I will put it on craigslist or eBay. I live in
Jackson, Mi. Please let me know what you think it is worth as it is, as you know way more than I ever will
about it. If it isn't worth much, then I might as as well V8 it. That would be a shame though, and I would
not feel right about it, so, I got to sell it. Thanks a lot again for the info and anything you might be able to
tell me. Chuck PS. NADA says 6000 is low dollar on an original Cosworth.
