According to an October, 2014 membership application, this car belongs to Roger Rome of East Granby,
CT. The VIN is 1V77O6U198317. He writes: I have an intermittent no start issue when warm. Haven't
done much just learning the system so for. Key on I hear fuel pump and air solonoid. Turns but no start. I
smell fuel for sure. When it does start the timing is at 12 degrees with the line off at the evap can. I don't
know the rpm as the gauge isn't working. I'm hoping it's an easy fix. I have suspicions about the motor
it sounds kinda noisy. Seem to have power in certain bands but bogs upon acceleration.

According to a Yahoo post in April of 2004, “I am passing this info along just in case the club doesn't
know where this car is located. It came from a member of V8Monza.com”. “Thought I would post this
here, I don't go over to the Cosworth page and I’m not on my ‘puter to do the bookmark thing either,
so........besides I know at least 1 of the Cosworth guys post here...but Cosworth 2837 is currently residing
on the east side of Cincinnati Ohio, (Eastgate area) and it has a sweet looking body/under
carriage.....mark” JD

BRING A TRAILER AD 8-16-2021
This 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega is #2,842 out of approximately 3,500 examples built during a two-year production run and was sold new by Knauss Chevrolet in Tigard, Oregon. The body is finished in black over black vinyl, and power is provided by a 2.0L twin-cam inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a Positraction rear end. Additional equipment includes gold-painted wheels, an aftermarket exhaust system, and an AM radio. The car was reportedly imported into Canada in 2010 and was acquired by the seller in 2019. Service during the seller’s ownership consisted of overhauling the brakes and suspension, rebuilding the cylinder head, and more as described below. This Cosworth Vega is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, a build sheet, service records and manuals, and Saskatchewan registration in the seller’s name.

The Fisher-built body is finished in black and features gold “Cosworth Twin Cam” lettering on the front fenders along with gold pinstriping on the hood, sides, wheel arches, and rear valance. The seller reports the roof and rear hatch were repainted after dents were removed, and close-up photos of the paintwork and paint meter readings are provided in the gallery below.

Gold-painted 13″ alloy wheels wear bow tie center caps and 195/70 Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires. The seller states the following suspension and braking components have been replaced since 2019:
Springs and shocks
Tie rods
Ball joints
Sway bar links
Suspension Bushings
Calipers
Pads
Drums
Proportioning valve
Master cylinder
Suspension and brake components were also repainted, and photos of the process can be viewed in the gallery.
1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega
The cabin is upholstered in black vinyl with matching door panels, carpets, and a gold engine-turned instrument bezel. Amenities include Chevrolet-branded floor mats, a heater/defroster, an electric rear defogger, and an AM radio. A plaque affixed to the dashboard identifies the car as Cosworth Vega #2,842.
1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega
The four-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 47k miles, approximately 3k of which have been added by the seller.
1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega
The aluminum 2.0-liter inline-four features a Cosworth-designed twin-cam cylinder head as well as electronic fuel injection and tubular exhaust headers. Factory-rated output was 110 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque. The seller states that service since 2019 includes machining the cylinder head, installing new valves, guides, and seats, and replacing the timing belt, starter, and water pump. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a Positraction rear end. An aftermarket exhaust has been installed and is depicted above. The factory exhaust is included in the sale. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery below.

Offered for sale in September, 2008 on the CVOA website: 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega, #2842. This
is a 9.5 in all original condition and has been garaged its entire life. Runs like
a champ! The interior is perfect; the exterior has a few dings from “stuff” around the garage. Have a
new factory sticker kit and other factory parts should you wish to do the minimal body work and repaint.
Taking this step the car would look like a brand new car has zero rust and we are just the second owner.

For sale in our Dallas showroom is this Immaculate 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega. This Cosworth is #2843 of 3,508 manufactured between 1975 and 1976. The mirror black exterior finish is striking with the rare black/white sport cloth interior, cast aluminum wheels, full instrumentation, engine turned gold dash panel, front/rear anti-roll bars along with the Cosworth overhead twin cam engine with Bendix Electronic fuel injection sporting the stainless-steel header. Other options include the 5-speed gear box, 4.10 positraction rear axle, AM/FM 8 track player and rear speaker. Designed to be a racecar for the street, power steering and power brakes are not present to save weight, but clocking in at under 2,800lbs, you would never think to need them. Adding to the weight savings is the aluminum engine tricked out with all the goodies like fuel injection, forged aluminum pistons, and a forged steel crankshaft and rods. These are extremely overbuilt engines built for power and longevity.
Cosworth #2843 has undergone an extensive body off restoration with no expense spared. Show board and large binder of receipts/documentation will be included in the sale. The Cosworth has been featured in magazines and has multiple show wins to include best of show at the National Cosworth Vega Owners Association’s (CVOA) annual concours. This, #2843, is a collector’s dream; low enough mileage to surely increase in value, but not so low that you would feel wasteful enjoying it on the road. Many magazines touted the Cosworth as the best in its class for ’75 and ’76 by beating the likes of Alfa, BMW and Saab.
This Cosworth Vega has a racing heritage, plenty of positive magazine articles, outstanding body off restoration and low mileage. For more information on this sporty 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega, contact our Dallas showroom at 817-402-3434 or . To see more HD photos and an HD video of the vehicle running and driving, visit

Owned by Barry Connolly of CA as of October of 2013. He wrote: I bought a nice 76' CV (#2843). Black,
of course, and it has the cloth seats I've been dying for.... It's in great shape (29k miles) having
undergone a multi‐year nut and bolt restoration. It came with a TON of spare parts. So I trailered it to
CA from WI averaging 8mpg the whole way, OUCH!! I've yet to enter it into the CVOA Registry but will
do so shortly. It may already be in there and I'll just need to update the owner info.... My going in
intention is to improve it in some areas and make it my show car and keep #2881 as a nice driver.

The VIN is a match.
76 Cosworth Vega, just under 30000 (29,700) miles on it. The engine was completely rebuilt about 15
years ago but was just put in the car last summer. I put about 300 miles on it. It does have a small oil
leak at the back of the oil pan. I don't have time to fix it. It has all new stainless steel valves, new ceramic
coated pistons, recalibrated cam gears, new timing belt, new distributor. belt, new injectors, new plugs,
new plug wires, Jet‐Hot coated header inside and outside ,new radiator and hoses, new master cylinder,
new brake hoses front and rear, Monza front rotors and new calipers, new rear wheel cylinders. It has a
new NOS catalytic converter and new exhaust, new tires, balanced and aligned. It has the original
interior and spare tire. The paint does have some blemishes, a few small blisters on the hood, and small
nicks and the usual stuff from a 15 year old paint job. It sat in a heated garage for the past 20 years. The
underside was all hand stripped and painted. A lot off the stuff has also been powder coated, heat
shields, control arms, backing plates, etc. I have a lot of extra parts that go with the car. I also have a
Cosworth front bra for it. There is no warranty and the car is sold as is. Thank You Contact me with any
questions. The car is kept in Friendship, WI.

Owned by former Region 17 Director Randy Pettey as of December of 1993. He obtained this car from
Brad Riza when it had only 28k on the clock. He reported that it looked very good from five feet, but
that a closer inspection revealed tell‐tale signs of surface rust in various locations including the
underside crimp seam at the leading edge of the hood, at the underside crimp seam and window
channel of the hatch and in every caulked seam. He also reported in his newsletter that he took a 9
month leave from work with one goal to complete the restoration of this car.

For Sale: The 76 Cosworth is one owner all original with 549 miles. The tires are original, spare never out, with build sheet. Its unique since the dealer installed 5 speed versus build sheet 4 speed to sell to a customer who then backed out of deal. Has all the paperwork.
It’s a fine example of a showroom Cosworth as it was in 1976. Cleaned tank, replacing pump and screen, rubber fuel lines and rebuilt HP pump. Car started and runs well. Oil and filter changed as well new battery, new coolant, other than that all original. There is a small dent on right fender from probably replacing battery which I have a paintless dent guy to repair and can forward pictures when completed.
Asking $20,000 and car located in Cumming, Ga. Interested party’s should contact Oran Eichler at 678-300-4490.
