This is a “maybe”. In an e‐mail to Tom Lippert, Stuart Downey wrote: “I had the same color (i.e. green)
Cosworth with front and rear spoilers. I think it was number 3506 although my memory fails me. I sold
it in 1982 for $1500. My brother had a biege Cosworth and a white one as well. Stuart R. Downey, PMI
Systems Integrators, 770‐578‐8209” sdowney@pmisys.com
Clearly the above was mistaken. This car appeared on eBay in April of 2004 with multiple pictures. It is a black car
with the Weber conversion. According to the listing, “1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega with numbers matching
engine and transmission. Car needs full restoration but had solid frame and body and is showing 63000 miles. You
will not find a better restoration candidate than this car. It does need door skins as it sat outside for an extended
period of time. Frame is rock solid. The motor is running and comes with the optional Weber Hi performance carb
set up which is installed on the engine. All the original fuel injection parts including computer are included. This car
will be sold with low reserve so don't let it get away if you are in the market for a Cosworth. 1976 is the last and best
year of the Cosworth Vegas. The dash plaque showing registration #3506 is still in place and matches extensive
paperwork including original bill of sale from Russo Chevrolet in Niagara Falls, NY. The seller will be out of the
country until May 18, 2004 at which time the winning bidder can pick up the car or arrange for delivery. Extensive
email pics available for email if requested by serious bidders. SELLERS NOTE: I am listing this car for a friend.
The owner wrote the description above. I just want to note that the owner is a serious car collector. He regularly
buys vehicles, which he then has professionally restored. Because he does little or none of the work himself he
consistently buys vehicles that can be restored at a reasonable price. This car is no exception to that scenario. He is
selling this car to make room for three other cars, which will be coming back from the restoration shop in the next
few weeks.

In March of 2007 a Vega Sedan delivery restoration project located in Mesa AZ, with the drivetrain from this car,
appeared on eBay. The ad read, “This is a Project and not running. Very rare body style (not a station wagon clone,
the real deal). Rust free, clean Arizona car with most of the original paint. Cosworth engine, transmission (5-speed),
rear end, and wheels from a '76 Cosworth donor car (also included if you want it--very rusty). Rare Hutton intake
and Weber carburetor set up. I bought the car this way and know nothing about it. The guy I bought it from said the
76 Cosworth Donor car was running. Ask questions before you bid. Sold As-Is with no guarantee on anything.
PayPal required ($100.00 Non-refundable deposit within 48 hours). Payment is due in full in 7 days or I will re-list
the car. I can store it free for as long as needed.

In 2009 he wrote: Guys, back in 1976 when I was working for GE in Erie PA I bought a new Cosworth
Vega #3508 and a few years later in the October 1982 issue my modified Cosworth was featured in your
magazine. A few months after that issue was out I ran off the road in a rain storm and did major damage
to the body. Over the next 8/10 years I disassembled the car and fixed most of the body damage and
then due to other factors put the car in my shed where it’s been ever since. Now at 68 and retired and
don't have the energy or the money to finish the project. I have enclosed some pictures of what I had
and now have for your review. Last year I joined the association again in hopes of finding someone to
sell the car to, which has not happened. The current economic conditions are not helping but I would
think there is someone out there that would be interested in 3508 if nothing else than for parts.
Although the car is disassembled everything (as far as I know) is there except the front windshield. In
addition there are many boxes of extra parts mostly for the engine which I played around with a lot. I
even have a blank crank forging and a custom fuel injection manifold that I designed. The engine was
started last year and again a few months ago, although this time I had to work around the now failed
electric fuel pump. I would like to get $1,200 for the lot and so I'm witting you to see if you know
anyone that might be interested. Pictures are attached. Dave

repaired, and primered, but has sat since the early 80’s. It is for sale in the fall of 2007.

bought it and imported it into Japan. He said he prefers to keep it original and intends to drive it on the
street. He says it is being repaired now (suspension) but doesn't say exactly what is being repaired.

Posted on eBay:
1976 Cosworth #3510. This is a rare "color car" that came from the factory with gold exterior and saddle tan interior. I bought the car about 10 years ago, drove it briefly until we found out the rear suspension was rusty, then parked it. We drove it now and then but the radiator was damaged and the engine overheated, which blew the head gasket. The engine still ran but was burning coolant. I recently tried to get it running again but the starter isn't getting power. Engine does turn by hand.

The fuel pumps still run and I think all the injection stuff should be fine. Fuel doesn't even smell that old. It was a strong runner before the head gasket went. The engine is complete except for the damaged radiator and shroud.

Unfortunately the chassis has rust and the car had a poor repaint years ago. It will need work on rear control arms and on the braces for the front lower control arms. Floors and spare tire well have rust too. Its been sitting outside and is dirty, but most of the paint can be cleaned up. Front fender is dented.

The interior is missing - seats, door panels, carpet, headliner, etc. Hood hinges are also gone. GT dash and 4 speed shifter is complete. Tan dash is faded but not badly cracked. It even still has the AM/FM radio.

The hatch isn't rusty and has rare rear defrost glass. The defroster switch is still in the dash too.

This is a 4 speed car with the iron Saginaw transmission. It comes with 5 Cosworth wheels. I can get the tires aired up so it rolls, and we can move it to a commercial location so a transporter can pick it up.

I've had several Cosworths over the years but this is the last of them. I also have some solid doors and a 4.10 axle available separately if someone needs them.

Located just east of Cincinnati in Amelia, zip 45102.

Car has a clear title and I can work with your shipper if you want to send someone out. International buyers welcome.

According to a January 2011 membership application, this car is now owned by Shaun Guillerman of
New Richmond, OH. In February of 2011 he posted on Yahoo, "I'm back in the saddle again, but at least
this time I bought a running car. Last year I bought and sold 0266, which was a kinda rough non runner
with a nice interior. It was a bummer not to have a running car, and kind of a daunting task to awake
one that's been asleep so long. Well, about an hour north of me, 3510 has been for sale for a couple
months. It's rough, but runs pretty good and with a little work I can drive it. Does anyone know the car?
I found pictures on the club site, from much better days in FL, and some references to it being in PA in
2003. Seems like the last few years have not been kind ‐ bad floor pan replacement, front and rear
frame issues, really bad repaint, etc. Gold/buckskin interior, 4 speed, posi but no swing outs. 83k miles.
It took awhile to get the seller to take my offer, and in the meantime I lucked into another Cos literally
15 minutes from my house. Its 2750 and has been parked since '86. Burgundy/white interior,110k miles,
5 speed, swing outs, and a bunch of spare parts. It's got nice floors and very little rust underneath, but
the doors and fenders are shot. Still original paint though. So I bought it too. Plans right now are to
drive the gold car and eventually use it for parts for the burgundy car if it turns out to be the better one.
I like it more already since its unmolested. I'll put up some pics when I retrieve both this weekend. Nice
to be back in the fold. I've enjoyed reading the digest while I've been away...Thanks.

The next posting on Yahoo read: I have a 76 Cosworth Vega for sale. It is number 3510. It is Saddle color
with buckskin interior, gold wheels. It is 99% stock and runs excellent. It has 83,000 miles. Very, very
little rust just starting in a couple areas. I bought this Vega to install a 350 small block Chevy, but I don’t
have the heart to take out a perfect running engine. This car is worth more being a stock Cosworth. I did
not know how well these 4 cylinders motivate the Vega. It is a surprising little engine. The interior is like
new. There are a few rips in the driver seat and it could use a carpet. Other than that, it is great. Please
e‐mail me if you have questions and I can also e‐mail some pictures if you like.
Then came: I have added some NEW information within this message about the 1976 Cosworth #3510. I
have for sale. First: the car is located in NY. I am in a small town near the city Hudson, which is 30 miles
South of Albany. The car can be viewed by appointment. Second: I have loaded pictures on the
cosworthvegas website. Go to website: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cosworthvegasand into the
"Photos" and look for the folder called "1976 Cosworth". This will save you time in E‐mailing me and
asking for pictures. Third: Actual miles: 83,253.

Next listed on eBay in April of 2003. “This is a Cosworth Vega and it is #3510. If you are looking at this
car, you must know what a Cosworth Vega is. This car is in pretty nice shape. Due to the mild winters NY
has had, it has been driven for the last couple years by the previous owner, so it is showing a little rust in
places. The car overall is very solid and a perfect car to bring back to perfection for only a small amount
of money. The car is Saddle color with a buckskin vinyl interior color. All gauges work and light up at
night. Standard shift transmission and it shifts fine. Car runs and drives down the road tight and straight.
Good brakes and good rubber on all corners. The spots of rust are: the front, lower point of the bottom
of the passenger door, the passenger rear pillar has a bubble starting, and the driver side floor has a
hole in the floorboard. The interior is almost like new. Only rips in the driver seat and the carpet will
need replacing. The rest of interior is great condition.

Posted April 4, 2003: Where are the diehard Cosworth fans?? I have decided since no one is serious
enough to buy this as a running driving car, it leaves me no choice but to part it out and sell the parts on
E‐bay. If no serious buyer contacts me by April 11, the Vega items will start appearing on E‐bay. All I
want out of this car is $2000, so after I sell enough parts to meet this amount, the remainder of the car
will go to the crusher. Sorry I have to do this, but I can't stand having my time wasted with people just
