Lance went by and got information on the one Cosworth that was left on the street... in the
elements...and hit a couple of times. The owner is a jerk and thinks he can make money...our
impression. Owner name is Mitchel......as far as we know...not sure if first or last name. Car left and at
rental property now. Car was sold at Wilcox Chevy and is #0620......still together.......body gone....not
sure about running condition......but located in Louisville. Lance has tried to work with the owner for
several years and the man saw ours at a car show and has decided it is worth money.....and is just letting
it rust away. Sorry to give you bad news........but another car is identified and can be added to the
list. This is something all owners want to keep up with and we know there are jerks out there who buy
low and hope to sell high. Jodee Nelson, February, 2004

The VIN is 1V77E5U217522. On eBay in November, 2012. Hi I traded for this car and I don't know a
whole lot about it. It runs very well and strong and drives perfect. It is showing 17,000 + miles and I
have no way of knowing if these are original or not. It seems very tight for a Vega that would have
117,000 miles, but I don't know if 17,000 would be right either. The reason I say this is that the car has
been repainted and looks very good. The interior is in very nice shape, but again I don't know if it has
been replaced or is original. If replaced it has been done with originally correct parts. The radio does
not work, but I may get it going before the auction is over. Happy bidding thank you for looking.
Located in Hooker, OK.

Brief history of CV #0623. CV #0623 was originally owned by my Grandfather. He bought it new in 75
from Weber Chevrolet in Missouri. Sometime in the late 80's or early 90's it had an engine fire caused
by a leak in the fuel line. After this the car sat outside unprotected for several years. One of my cousins
in the family restores cars, and got #0623 running again for my grandfather. But by this time my
grandfather’s health kept him from restoring the car. After that it was signed over to another cousin
who garaged it for 4 years at his dad's place, hoping to restore it some day. Last year his Dad decided to
move and CV623 had to find a new home, or leave our family. I did not want that to happen because I
grew up riding in that car, and hearing stories from my parents about how much fun the car was. I
decided I would bring it down here to Houston, and with my father’s help, we will get #0623 back on the
road again. Dave
Drove #0623 to work today. Yeah, I have to work today. :( Anyway on the way to work, #0623 felt like
it started missing, wouldn't idle. Also the exhaust smells a little gassy. Dave/metaframeguru

Found in Maine By Robert Kearns.

Car is in rough shape, engine out of it. Supposedly spun a bearing a long time ago. Black/ Black vinyl. Car may have had a turbo set up on it at one time.

Rusting away badly. Most likely will be bought by Robert Kearns and part it out. (August 2024)

#626 is alive near me. I just saw it with a fresh coat of black and if I can I will photo it when the stripes
go on next spring. It's been changed to a small block but the owner is trying to keep the looks stock i.e.:
no hood scoop, gold spoke wheels, and stock interior. His name is Doug Bashur and is a craftsman as the
repairs and modifications are very well done. Doug’s address is 8545 Devon, Utica, MI.

I am a long time Cosworth Vega owner...since 1978. I had been a member of the CVOA for many years and stopped a number of years back. I don’t know if #0627 is still registered with me in the registry. I go back to the Bob Maloy and Bill Hutton days along with regional guy Maurice Schechter(?).

My #0627 is in fairly rough shape and has not been started in 15+ years. The interior is surprisingly like new. There is probably about 30K miles on it before, well, life happens. No mechanical issues at the time. I do have a box full of NOS parts as well as both right and left fenders and right and left quarter panels and driver side door that I purchased through contacts in the club 25-30 years ago. At this point it is just sitting and I now know I will never getting around to a restore due to cost, etc.

I have someone interested in buying the car plus the parts. What kind of rough estimate would you put on the car that needs a complete engine, brake fuel line, etc. overhaul? Again, I have all NOS sheet metal and the guy interested has the tools, rotisserie and skills to do the work himself. I’d put the overall condition at about a 3 to 4 out of 10? See pictures.

It breaks my heart to sell it since I have it since I was 20 or so and I am now 63. However, it has just been sitting for far too long and other than sentimentality, why keep it? But it still has me guilt-ridden.

I also included a list of the parts I have to include with the car. I figure the NOS parts and sheet metal alone are worth maybe 2K or so.

CV #0628 RIP –Black/ Black Vinyl - During my time owning it, was badged as #1156. (Did not figure out it was #0628 until after 1998) Bought from Dick Baumhauer’s nephew in Fall 1996. Car had been stored at Magnetek where Dick worked for a few years. Car was painted Metallic Burgundy, had a dark window tint installed, rear spoiler and front spoiler installed and Ieco Console. Car had a bored .060” over 2.3L CV engine with stock head and stock cams. Came with mismatched Webers. Used as a daily driver for about a year. Took to the 1997 Cleveland, OH CVOA Roundup. Car was pretty rusty underneath. Installed EFI, needed to install a kill switch to fuel system otherwise car flooded out on start up. Parted out in Fall of 1997 shortly after Roundup. Had ripped the rear end out of mounts from rust! (Cowall Owned 9-96 to 9-97)

Car No. 75-0630

Purchased in 1975 at insurance auction. Car had been hit at right front bulkhead damaging the chassis beyond economic repair. Engine, transmission, seats, etc. were undamaged. To the best of my recollection the car had less than 5000 miles on the odometer when hit.

Registered with CHEVROLET COSWORTH TWIN CAM VEGA REGISTRY

ref: Robert P. Bowen 15149 Killion Street, Van Nuys, CA 91401 in February, 1978.

I don’t know if these groups are still active. (Update: CVOA still seems to be active: https://www.cosworthvega.com/ )

In the summer of 1975 I changed jobs and moved across the country. Friends and I stripped the car and put the engine, seats, transmission and wheels into storage. A few years later when I moved to Ireland I had the engine crated and shipped and scrapped the rest. The original E. F.I. and Engine management controller are with the engine. It has been in the crate ever since and always stored indoors. Early on I poured fresh engine oil through the sparkplug holes to ensure the piston rings didn’t seize and used to turn the engine through 720° periodically but don’t have easy access to do that in its current location. I did confirm a few days ago that it is still easy to rotate the crankshaft.

This is a parts car and has no title. Will be sold with a bill of sale only! I bought this car several years ago
from a salvage yard for the rear end, engine, trans., wheels, and some body parts. Never used any of
the parts. This car does "not" run! Windshield, 1/4 window's and gas tank gone. Interior is in bad
shape, windshield has been missing for a while, and Mother Nature has taken her toll. Passenger front
fender has dent. All 4 tires are flat. Please e‐mail for any other questions. Trailer is "not" included in
the sale. This car will have to be trailered to its new home. I will deliver within 200 mile radius of the
Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX area for $1.00 per mile, minimum charge $100.00. 25% due within 5 days; balance
to be paid within 10 days of close of auction. Buyer to pay for all shipping charges of the vehicle. I
accept money order, cash, or personal check (must clear before pick up of vehicle). Thanks for looking!
I have had a number of requests for some additional information, so here it is. The Vega's VIN # is
1V77E 5U217915, it has 3.73 gears and it is a posi, 4‐speed transmission, both bumpers in real good
shape except the rubber going across the bumper is broken in several spots. Motor is not locked up,
turns with wrench on the crankshaft. Dash plaque and steering box are missing. I hope this helps.
Thanks for looking!

Found in a salvage yard called 121 Salvage, almost completely destroyed in a wreck, no seats, hood, cylinder head off, headers gone. Pretty bad shape, but the dash was still in place. I just happened to see it and recognized it as a Cosworth Vega. Sorry I didn’t get the VIN or any other information. Phil
