#0067‐RIP
VIN #1V77E5U193845‐RIP The VIN came off the motor from this car which is still in good shape and is
destined for an S10 pickup. It is in Hawaii and owned by Oge (Guy Andrage(?)). He said the body rusted
away due to the salt air. He plans to turbocharge the motor, and has 10.2 mm racing wire (from eBay)
that fits an early 90's Honda Civic. He is using an MSD distributor from which he machined 4 reluctors
off the trigger wheel, and also machined the distributor shaft to make it work in the Cosworth. The
stampings on the block are TO411ZCA. The Tonawanda number is 118. Oge is now a member of the
Club. 4/11.

Here is an ad received from the Hawaii Craigslist in January of 2011: "REAL Cosworth Vega #0067. Have
dash bezel w/serial number, $300.00. Driver's side window glass $150.00. Driver's armrest $100.00.
Quick‐ratio steering box, $300.00. Set of 4 Cosworth rims with center caps, fair shape, $1000.00. A 3:73
posi rear $1500.00. Need anything else before I tow it to the crusher? It's gone by 5pm tomorrow, so
don’t wait to call‐‐this is the last time anything will be available. It WILL be towed and crushed
tomorrow sometime for sure. (808) 291‐2908, serious only, no money = NO CALL. Thank you and aloha.
Then your Editor received an email from the owner and some correspondence ensued:
I recently acquired as a parts car a Cosworth Vega, the dash plaque says it is #0067. it is COMPLETELY
destroyed by rust, ( the only thing keeping it in 1 piece is the paint...) but I am taking out the rear axle/all
4 rims for my fiancés 75 V8 Astre. The motor/trans/all glass is gone, but I still have the rest of the car to
gut‐it must be gone by Monday afternoon, though anyone need anything? Email me at
chippenwhales@gmail.com thank you. solomon
Where is the car located? Mark
Honolulu Hawaii 96822...so shipping will be NUTTY. I have an extra V8 Monza rear axle, someone
inquired about shipping to California.‐ Our local shipping company, Young Brothers Shipping, wanted
$677.95 to go from Honolulu Hawaii to Oakland! Greedy b*st*rds....Solomon
Ouch. Well, doubt anybody wants/needs parts that badly. But can you get me the VIN from the body?
Thanks. Mark
The whole front of dash where VIN would be is completely rotted away‐there isn't anything there, no
metal to attach it to much less the VIN tag. anywhere else it would be? it does have the #0067 dash
plaque. Solomon
Solomon: Save the dash plaque. The VIN is stamped on the side/top of the driver's front shock
tower/upper spring perch, if the engine side is 12:00, and the side closest to the tire is 6:00, then it
should be about 5:00, if I recall correctly. It should be on a vertical portion of the tower/perch. Mark
Ok, says 15U193845, I believe....Solomon
Solomon: Great. Thanks. Mark

This car was owned by now Fr. Kenneth L. Novak before he entered the seminary. He bought it off a
used car lot of a GM dealer in “Chicagoland”. He writes, “When it rained, it leaked like crazy. Rust was a
problem.” He also reports that the car was missing its ¼ window chrome, and the exhaust had been
replaced as it only had a single tailpipe. It had also been repainted as it had neither wheel well stripes
nor rear valence and it was missing the Cosworth Twin Cam decals. It had black vinyl seats and was a 4
speed. He sold it to his brother, who works in a dental lab, when he left for the seminary for the lowly
amount of $2,000. His brother drove it for a while, lunching three clutches before having the problem
solved. In 1986 he sold it to an auto mechanic for the same $2,000, and the car has not been heard of
since.

A Morgantown, Kentucky Cosworth. It was offered for sale on eBay in November of 2002. It was
described as: 1975 rare Cosworth Vega complete. Car needs restored, but very hard to find complete
like this. Was running when parked. AM/FM radio, 4‐speed, car number #70, lots of rust but seems to
be all there. Good KY title, ready to go to a new home. For any info call 270‐934‐5311 after 5 pm. I'm
selling this for a friend so call him for details. 1/2 the money within 12 days of auction end, the other
half when you come and get the car. Will allow ample time to pick up. Thanks for looking.

In January of 1999, Clark Kirby of Arlington, TX, wrote: I still own Cosworth Vega #0078 (one of the first
30 sold to the public since the first 50 were "Zone cars"). I bought it from Hudiberg Chevrolet in Ft.
Worth, Texas on May 22, 1975 after having it on order for over two years! It is still like new (Condition 2)
and runs strongly (spins the tires hitting 2nd gear at 60mph!), with the entire original exhaust system
and stock fuel injection. It now has about 60,000 miles and is driven just a few miles per month.
