According to an email from Mike Reed, I own three Cosworth Vegas. All three were stored in a barn in Michigan that was destroyed by a tornado on Friday, August 24. The insurance company has totaled all three vehicles. However, there are a lot of parts in these cars that are in perfect condition. Engines, entire drive lines, bumpers, wheels, interiors, dashes, hoods, etc. I am trying to contact someone with an interest in Cosworth Vegas who knows of a person or business who might be interested in purchasing these vehicles from the insurance company for parts. I have been unable to locate any of the officers or personnel associated with the Cosworth Vega Owners Association. I'm hoping you can steer me to appropriate e-mail addresses and/or phone numbers. It would be a shame to see all these parts get lost along the line somewhere. One of them is #1469. It has 48 original miles (new car sticker still in rear quarter window). The car was in perfect condition before the storm, needing only tires, some cleanup and starting.

This car is/was (?) owned by Richard Cole. He writes on his website: “My first car, that I learned to drive on, was a 1975 Cosworth Vega; number 1472. It was a car significantly ahead of its time. It was the first dual overhead cam engine with fuel injection sold in the United States. This car was a BLAST to drive. When it comes to this car I am a purist. Too many people have taken liberties with the design of the car and ruined it. Specifically, many people removed the fuel injection and put on carburetors. Why would someone do this? In my humble opinion, it ruins the appeal of the car as a collector’s item. If some grease monkey wants to mess with a car let them use something other than a Cosworth Vega. Remember, collector’s item = purity! http://www.richardcole.com/Cosworth/cosworth1.htm
I know it's not a Monza, and I also know some would consider it a sin to put a V 8 in this car BUT it came with no motor or tranny ....... Soooo a SBC it is. My problem is I would like to use as many Monza parts as possible , I'd like to make this look like a factory v8 ( I know they didn't make one) so any advice or leads on parts would be greatly appreciated. John , thanks for reaching out. I bought the car a few weeks ago out of Waterbury Ct. No motor or tranny which was perfect for me , I don't have to feel bad about separating it. The tittle I have in hand was issued in 1993 , purchased in 1992 with 51,559 miles on it , it now has the same, apparently the second owner didn't do anything with it except pull the motor? Did people use these motors for something else? The body is VERY, VERY SOLID. Needs weather stripping, carpets ( faded) and a V8. Any info of this cars history and any leads on Monza parts for the swap would be appreciated. Sent via Facebook Messenger 5/26/15 to John J. Cowall From Richard Poirier.

Recently (as of October 2004) acquired by Brad Wirth of NY. He wrote to Art Treta: “Dear Arthur, my name is Brad Wirth and I recently acquired a 75 Cosworth # 1473. I'm writing to you in response to your latest Chronicle. I saw the Vega in the weeds behind a body shop last November in Baldwinsville, NY. I asked the gentleman at the body shop whose car that was out back, he responded that he didn’t know of the car as the shop across the street stores cars there. So with inspiring curiosity I walked across the street to inquire. The gentleman at the shop said that a man that happened to be in town visiting his mother for thanksgiving owned the car. He proceeded to call the lady to see when his son was going to be in town. Meanwhile I walked back across the street to confirm that it was a 75 Cosworth. My eyes lit up as I once tried to buy a similar car owned by Van Wie Chevrolet in the same town. It wasn’t the same car but nonetheless it was a Cosworth. I immediately had to have the car. I walked back across the street and the man said that the lady wasn’t home but he gave me her phone number. I called her that day and got the phone number from her to call her son. Well I called him and he agreed to sell the car as he was going to restore it but lost interest after having a motorcycle accident. I bought the car and right now almost 10 months later the car is completely restored. An original 32,000-mile car is soooo beautiful. I joined the Cosworth club and have been able to find most parts, though I’m looking for a fuel filter and a few other parts i.e. sill plates, original front speaker. Well.... I hope that you enjoyed my ‘’story’. Thanks for the opportunity to tell it. Sincerely Brad Wirth.

John, greetings from Sweden. I run the Swedish H-body Registry at https://h-body.se/ This is indeed a Swedish car. It was pre-registered in Sweden at Nov 4, 1975 and was put in traffic Feb 16, 1976. Current owner has had it since Aug-76.
I´m glad you found this picture, since I haven´t had any pics at all of this car. On my site (though in Swedish) you can read how many H-bodys there are in Sweden. I believe this is the one and only Cosworth though.
If you want VIN-number or owner info, please PM me!
Hello John, I´m glad I spotted this post on FB, and glad to help you. VIN number is 1V77E5U257655. I don´t have the owners name right now, but can pull that info later. Quite fun, since the current owner has owned since 1976!
Owe Oweston is owner
