Still reading CVOA Magazines
I have made it to Issue #90...
I have been reading the CVOA Magazines for about two weeks now (spanning 30+ years) and have some observations I would like to share. This might be long but it won't be Mark Rock long. Man can he write a LONG article. The only one I have found that can compete is Duke Williams. Both of these guys have a knack for writing and I can say I have enjoyed reading every one of their articles.
Typically, I do not like to read. I could probably count on two hands the number of books I have read completely, most of them being required reading when I was in K-12. One thing I have learned in the last two wees is that if I am interested in what I am reading, it is hard to stop. I can say I have been up past my regular bedtime more than a few times in the last two weeks and watched much less TV.
I began reading these magazines in an effort to find out more details/history about Bob Maloy's 0002 Recreation that I now own. I was able to find out some details (actually quite a few) that I did not know, but many questions still linger in my head. During this process I found that I just could not stop reading. I wanted to find out what happened next... be it a Roundup, more technical information, more historical information OR what parts are/were available that were not previously.
At this point I really feel like I have gotten to know many people/members by reading their misc. articles. Some of these people I met at the last Roundup in Nebraska. I wish I would have read all of these magazines before that Roundup as it would not have only allowed me to feel like I already knew most of them but could have led to many (more) great conversations.
The technical information that is contained in these magazines is amazing. I have learned many things that will help me going forward with 0002 and any other Cosworth I may decide to purchase in the future. The other really cool thing is some of the technical information that crosses over to the regular Vega. I currently own two of those, a 76 and a 77 Hatchback (non GT).
I guess in a nutshell what I am trying to say is.... I am glad this club exists, I am glad I am a member AND I look forward to what lays ahead for the club & members.
This is why I took the time a few Winters ago to scan all the Magazines into a PDF file. There is so much history, technical advice, blood, sweat and tears in these Magazines. They help define the CVOA! I hope many other Club Members take the time to really enjoy some, if not all of these Magazines, for sure.
