New Owner #2196
After watching the CV market for several years, things finally aligned and I purchased #2196 from Joe Lanthrop last weekend.
My first car was a '71 Notchback 4 speed base model, into which I swapped a sleeved engine with headers and a GT cam at around 80K miles. Toward the end of college, I replaced that engine (still going strong) with a Buick 3.8L and THM350. The car had over 200K miles on it when I finally used it as a trade-in on my first new car (Suzuki Samauri).
I've wanted a CV for quite some time, and it's already been to one Cars & Coffee here in Peoria, where there was a constant crowd around it.
My daily driver is a 2017 Chevrolet SS (neé Holden Commodore SS-V Redline), another "rare" Chevy.
Ed, just a tip. You may want to get a 3.73 rear end for highway driving purposes. These engine can take the high RPMs, but it can get a bit annoying driving! Ask around, someone near you may have a 3.73 76' rear end to swap in (should only be a couple hundred dollars.) Or, you can take the car to a shop and they can replace the pinion for you to a 3.73 set up. The leaks are relatively common. The old gasket material was notorious for it. You could use the Honda Bond or stuff I like called "Right Stuff". Seems to seal a bit better than the gaskets. The rumbling could be the carbs being a little out of sync, or it could just be the joys of owning a Cosworth. I know my car doesnt purr like a kitten all of the time. (just my thoughts)
Thanks,
