#2196 Goes Racing

Had an absolute blast at our local autox yesterday. Rainy during the morning and spitting rain in the afternoon, but the track was mostly dried out by then, which helped times.

The car was fantastic and got numerous complements - a crowd gathered as soon as I popped the hood for cool-down.

Got 7 runs in and dropped from 62.8 to 53.3 seconds on the last one. I just kept pushing harder and it kept wanting more (Joe L. did a great job with the car's setup)! Best raw time for the day was 42.2 sec for a Brunton Stalker. Worst was 61.6 sec for a prepped Mustang (older gentleman driving), so I felt I did okay for my first time in the car (and I’m not really competitive as a driver).

I went a bit over redline on the straightaway (look at the tach!) - was really trusting Joe's engine build! 😁

I have a whole new level of respect for the car now. Unfortunately, this will be the only track event for me this year. Driving our straight and flat Middle Western roads to C&C just won't be the same!

And I'll finish with a throwback photo from around 1985 that I shot in the Road Atlanta infield, just because it makes a good bookend.

You didn't get I trouble once.
I obviously wasn't driving hard enough!
