Offered for sale on eBay in January of 2003: VIN: 1V7706U186613, with 91,302 miles. This is Cosworth #2725 of only 3507 total produced. 10th military move in 23 years forces the sale of my Cosworth Vega. I have owned this car for a couple of years, but now have to sacrifice letting it go as I prepare to move to another duty station. This particular Cosworth is more rare than others as it was one of the few that received the only dealer option of having the fuel injection replaced with the dual Hutton Weber carburetors with 4 trumpets. The end result was more power and impressive looks. This car runs strong and drives well. Some time ago I acquired a spare Cosworth motor that goes with the car also, and is quite valuable itself. Don’t know the condition of the spare motor other than it looks clean on the exterior. Overall my Cosworth is in very good condition for an all‐original 27‐year‐old car. Would take little to bring back to #1 condition. Engine: Runs well, high compression, no oil leaks. Has a new exhaust. Transmission and Drivetrain: 4‐speed manual w/3.73 rear has no defects. Brakes: All brakes work well to include emergency brake. Lights: All lights and turn signals work well. Wheels and tires:
Has all 5 original Cosworth wheels in good condition and tires are at 50%. Glass: All windows are in perfect condition. Suspension and Steering: Tight with no defects. Body and Paint: Straight as an arrow. Does not display any evidence that it has ever been in an accident. Paint shines like new although it does have a few cracks and chips from normal wear. Also has all new Gold Cosworth decals and stripes properly placed. Only 2 dings the size of a quarter, 1 is on the hood and the other is beside the right taillight. Only indication of rust is a couple small paint blisters on the lower right quarter panel. Interior: Very good condition with solid floors. Rear upper seat has cracked from the sun beating on it. Has 2 small cracks in dash pad and the radio doesn’t work. Additional questions are encouraged via e‐mail or phone (228) 539‐2230.

Purchased by Charles Shivery of North East, Maryland.
I purchased a 1976 CV #2726 in April. Blue original paint and no rust. Needs a fuel pump. I paid $4995 on e-bay, thought it was a super deal. He says “when first started the idle was very high, but after a few minutes it came down. When he drove it the engine would bog down, but if he downshifted it would sometimes rev up. He also noticed a loud whining sound after he turned off the ignition the other day. Yahoo post 5/27/2008

This car appeared again on eBay in March of 2008, only this time the claim is 53,607 miles. Same VIN. According to the listing, “Nice Dark Blue Metallic Cosworth Vega #2726. This is a fairly rare color 5 speed car. It is a rust free Arizona and California car. I would consider this a driver quality car. Paint is decent but definitely not show quality. Car looks to be mostly original. Has brand new Tiger Paw radials. I bought this car for my teenage son to take to car shows this summer but he has no interest since he just bought an 87 IROC. Can ya blame him! Car needs a new fuel pump as the current one is noisy however it does still work. Car drives as nice as a Vega can. Interior is nice but could use some detailing.” The car is
now in Irwin, OH.

This Tucson, AZ blue Cosworth was offered in January of 2008 on eBay. According to the ad, “Very rare metallic blue with white interior. This car won awards in 1992 at the CVOA round‐up in San Diego. On a scale of 1 to 10 interior would 9, exterior would 9. It does have some minor scratches on paint and on original rims, interior needs a really good cleaning but is perfect. This Cosworth was completely restored in 1991. With rebuilt motor with less than 1000 miles on it. This is one of the nicest and rarest to find.” It has 75,000 miles and the VIN is 1V77O6U186742.

Sad fate for #2727. Car is wreck in the passenger front end. Car looks like its been weather beaten badly. Car is in a junk yard in Mims, FLA being parted out by a Steve Blackwell. Interior is ripped and faded. Parts of the engine are in the back hatch area. Gas tank is out . Paint is faded badly, and rust on the top end of the hatch, cowl, hood. (Almost looks like the car was underwater at one point!)

I have been talking to the owner and he stated that several people have contacted him about the stated mileage (21k) informing him that before he had it, the mileage was around 70k. The CVOA Magazine January 1991 edition shows that car listed for sale for $2700. The declared mileage
in the ad was 76,000. It was in Carmel, TN and was listed as Cosworth 2727, Mahogany metallic with
firethorn vinyl. Same car, slight chance there was a typo in the ad, but sounds fishy. Maybe it is 120,000
by now. That was 13 years ago. Hope that answers your question. Chris Wheaton

Unknown date. This Cosworth was purchased from the original owner and has 28,835 actual miles. It is car number 2731 out of the 3508 built in 1975 and 1976. It features a 4 speed manual transmission, all original paint, decals and interior. The car has been very well cared for and has been in storage for several years. Runs and drives great. It would probably be appraised as a Number 1 car. The original spare and wheel are still in place. Original owners manual included. Color is Medium Orange 78 with Light Buckskin vinyl interior. No visible damage or fading to exterior or interior. There are some small areas where sections of pin striping are missing as seen in close‐up photo of rear of car. The engine is the original high‐performance 122 cid Cosworth twin cam 16‐valve with electronic fuel injection designed for Chevrolet by England's famed Cosworth Engineering Ltd., a renowned race car building firm. The engine in this Cosworth was hand assembled and signed by Richard Stefanko. The signature plaque of builder is still in place on the engine. In 1996, Mark Patrick of the Detroit News called the Cosworth Vega "one of the top ten muscle cars ever built." Car & Driver Magazine has rated the Cosworth Vega as "One of the World's Ten Best Collector Cars ever built since 1974." If you have been wanting to start collecting muscle cars or are looking to add to your existing collection, this is a great opportunity on a fantastic original car at a reasonable price.

My name is Lou Lippert. I live in Plymouth MI. I have CV# 2734 in black/black. I acquired it in March 2022 from former member Mac Kemp's estate in Jasper GA, referral from a friend in the vintage road race world. It had been off the road since 2012 or so. It is in very good shape, it has a weber conversion on it now as the FI was just getting to be to much trouble to get it to work consistently right now. Fuel pump and sender upgrade through club contact. I also have a spare engine, 4sp trans and rear end among the spares. I will try to bring it to the club gathering at Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday. I am retired from the import auto repair business and my background includes exotics from the 70's. My plans may involve selling it to move on to the next project but we will see. Love the club.
Thanks
Lou Lippert

This is for Chris W. To update his database (or for whoever else is interested). I found a Mahogany CV, #2735, sitting behind a service station yesterday, and from what I'm told it has been sitting there for 10 years. It is weathered at best, and would probably only make a good parts car unfortunately, but it is complete and if anyone is interested in it, reply to this post or email me at mahoy78spyder@yahoo.com and I'll approach the owner. Some other stats are: Burgundy interior, swing out windows, VIN# 1V7706U187031. Let me know... Or at the very least we can put it into the database of "still surviving" CV's out there (although barely). Yahoo post 7/8/2001
