posted a message a little while ago regarding Dave Elliott's Cosworth collection. Here are the pics I took the other evening. He also had a storage unit with some Monza/Vega parts like interior pieces, rear ends, a tranny or 2 and I believe an extra Cosworth engine. The Firethorn Vega has been parked inside for a long time and the interior shows it. It was purchased from a small used car lot in the 80s from Chicago while Dave was attending a Cosworth Convention up North. He drove it home and ran it around for a few years. I want to say the reason he stopped driving it regularly was because of a valve cover leak or some other oil leak he was battling. He's OCD and couldn't stand to have a leak so he only started it and drove it occasionally. The last time I saw it started was probably ariund 2010 or so. We pulled the wheels and tires off of it to put on the wagon maybe 10 years ago or so. The black car doesn't have the drivetrain in it but it's in the garage. I believe he bought it from a college student 30 years or so ago not running. It is a TX car and aside from some surface rust I do not see anything significant. The wagon was a car he bought that used to be pristine but sat out for a long time but he intended on putting a Cosworth engine in it. He wanted it to be his daily driver but lile everything else, never got around to it. 3k and you take it all. He prefers that they go to a club member or someone who will use them and not scrap them or part them out. I understand that promises cannot be made like that BUT if anything is said about the cars going over scales or getting parted out, they will not be sold to you. Anyways, if you have any questions feel free to ask. Again, to reiterate, you must take it all. So if you ask what the price of a rear view mirror is, I'm going to say 3k and the rest is free.

Scott, how long have you had the blue car? I talked to someone back around 96 with a blue Cosworth
from that area looking to sell. I ended up buying a 75 from Watertown that had never been registered or
titled. It was a difficult decision as I wanted one in color but being the first owner was hard to turn
down. Art

Owned by Scott Fischer who lives near Albany, NY. It is a blue Cosworth with a white interior. He is
getting ready to get it on the road again (October 2003) after about 10 years of storage.
Scf@mhcable.com. Paint of the roof and hood are a bit worse for the wear, but otherwise the car is in
“perfect” shape.90' (I think!!). Scott Fischer

This car was offered for sale on eBay in October of 2005 out of Gaffney, SC by Andy Johnson. The
following is a combination of the posting and e‐mail correspondence with the owner: 1976 Chevrolet
Cosworth Vega #2959 (firethorn red with a red cloth interior and red carpet), along with a white 1976
Vega GT and a 1976 Vega parts car. Cosworth was running but has a bad electronic control unit. Have
an extra ECU with the same problem, but know of a place that can fix them. Minor body damage
(dented and punctured door), but a complete car. Dash pad severely cracked, dash bezel seriously
corroded, but it looks like it has a new 4‐speed shifter knob. Barn kept for last few years (since 1994).
Some new decals and other various parts. Odometer exceeds mechanical limits. Vega GT‐ 5‐speed.
Bought with the Cosworth. A complete car. I never had it running since I've had it. Doesn't appear to be
anything major wrong. Parts car is a regular 1976 Vega. Rough.

Let me start by telling you that I’m wondering if there is anyone qualified and trustworthy around that works on Cosworth Vegas, and I thought that one of you might know of someone. I contacted Bill Hutton in Clarksville, TN a few years ago, and he told me that he and his mechanic had retired and I think he closed Hutton Motor Engineering. They tuned up my Cosworth back in about 1981. Now I’ll reintroduce myself.
I think I met all of you at the 2018 Cosworth Vega Roundup in Lincoln, NE. That was the only roundup that I’ve attended through the years, and it was a wonderful experience for me. My favorite recollection of it was not of the cars, but of the wonderful people that I met. The banquet on the last evening was like a beautiful family reunion, and I always feel happy when I remember it.
I am the original and third owner of 2963. I bought it brand new in 1976 and had so much trouble with it that I traded it back to Charles West Chevrolet for a 1977 Impala. They sold it to some in Oak Ridge, TN who fixed some things and then traded it back to Charles West for a Corvette. In 1979 I bought it again from Charles West Chevrolet and have owned it continuously since. I drove it around as a second car for a few years and it has been parked in my garage since 1993 where it still sits. Here are some pictures of it that I took just before the 2018 roundup:
https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0vJtdOXmXzLhU
Other than being pushed to the center of the garage several years ago, it hasn’t moved or been cranked since 1993. The car is completely original and intact. The odometer indicates 30,386.8 miles and I can vouch for the authenticity of that mileage. There is a little body damage on the left front fender that occurred in the showroom when the car was on display at the dealership before I bought it the second time. They were pushing cars around and accidentally pushed another car into that fender. Their paint job on the fender wasn’t great, and they put the wrong decal on the fender. I have the correct decal around somewhere. The rest of the paint is original.
My goal is to get the car back in condition where I can drive it occasionally but not as a daily driver. My guess is that it needs substantial renovation and repair of the fuel system from front to back and all of the fluids changed, and probably replacement of the timing belt. I haven’t tried to turn the engine even with a wrench by hand, and I hope that it isn’t seized by inactivity. A couple of other things that need fixing are (1) the clutch got very hard to press because of the clutch cable needing replacement and (2) the steering wheel has gotten sticky due to the material deteriorating.
I don’t have a specific budget for getting my Cosworth roadworthy again, but I realize that it won’t be cheap. I’ve driven BMWs for almost 40 years and I’m accustomed to substantial repair bills. I’ve thought of trying to fix my car myself, but I really don’t have the experience to do the job. I would be so grateful for any suggestions that you all are willing to share.
One more thing: I’m derelict in keeping up my membership in the CVOA. I’d be glad to bring it back up to current including dues for the last few years. Thank you all again for all of your dedication and hard work to keep the family of Cosworth Vega owners together.
