Offered for sale in September of 2010. “You are bidding on a 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega, VIN#
1V7706U215844, which was built in Lordstown, OH in April 1976.

First I would like to point out that this is a VERY RARE Cosworth from the standpoint of a couple of
statistics, ……. besides the fact it still maintains its original paint and the window sticker was never
removed, it is one of 1447, 1976 Cosworths ever made. The Cosworth’s Dash Number is “3046.” All
1975 Cosworths were Black with Black Interior, like the majority of the 1976’s. This Cosworth is
Firethorn Metallic with Custom White and Firethorn Accented Interior, which makes this Cosworth very
rare.

A NUMBERS MATCHING, Hand Built, 16 Valve Hemispherical Combustion, Fuel Injected, Dual Overhead
Cam, Factory Stainless Steel Headers, Aluminum 4 Cylinder Cosworth Engine, with a 5 Speed, 4.10 Rear
End, powers it. It runs extremely strong. The Cosworth has only approximately 17,900 miles on it. Yes,
… this is a true numbers matching car! All of the numbers under the hood match perfectly! Everything
is there including the correct clamps, hoses, labels, etc.! This car has never been judged, but if this car
were, it would have to score extremely high, since only a couple of things have been done to it in its 35‐
year life.

The only changes made to the Cosworth have been the installation of re‐indexed Cam Sprockets and the
installation of a straight pipe in place of the Catalytic Converter and a new Cosworth Muffler to increase
performance, and the re‐coring of the original radiator to insure the cooling is perfect. (Should the High
Bidder desire, I will provide the original Catalytic Converter.) The rear Shocks have been replaced with
GM Goodwrench Delco Shocks, and both original Fuel Pumps have been rebuilt.

As previously noted, the paint is original and in very nice condition (Please See Pics). The paint scheme
is Firethorn, with White and Firethorn Custom Vinyl Interior. It comes with black wall radials (less than
800 miles) and the appropriate and original 1976 Aluminum Rims, Lug Nuts, and Center Caps. The spare
is the original Goodyear 13” Tire, which looks like it has never hit the ground. Options include as
follows; Soft Ray Tinted Glass, Color Keyed Floor Mats, 5 Speed Manual, Radial Black Walls, and AM
Radio. Yes, it still has the correct original Headlights.

The Interior is all‐original, and it is in near mint condition. All of the gages function properly, including
the clock. The only issue is that sometimes the gas gage reads correctly, and sometimes it decides to
read “E.” Manuals and paperwork are in the Glove Box (Warranty Book, Original Owners Manual, etc.).
Since this Cosworth was purchased from the Original Owner, besides having the Window Sticker and
Miles Per Gallon Stickers still attached to the window, included in the sale is the Dealer Copy Order
Sheet, the Build Sheet, and the Original Invoice from Graham Chevytown, Mansfield, OH. This car has all
of the hard to find original parts in near mint condition. Not bad for a car that is 35 years old! If you are
looking for the “Correct Cosworth” to either DRIVE or be JUDGED, this is it. Thus, Good Luck and Happy
Bidding!

i bought it in Sept 1976. I haven’t found any, would have to be polaroids. I sold it in the early 90’s. Hadn’t driven it regular for several years. Had a spare engine for it, sold car and engine for$1000. Guy made me follow him at 90+ mph for about 60 miles before he would pay me.

Lester Kirk got 135,000 miles out of it before I sold it, almost all before I got married and had kids. After that I rarely drove it,

For Sale on Bring A Trailer:
This 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega is #3,062 of 3,508 examples produced during the two-year production run and was originally delivered to Billings Chevrolet of San Jose, California. It is finished in Mahogany over a Buckskin interior and is powered by a 2.0-liter DOHC inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 13″ gold wheels, chrome trim, an AM/FM stereo, and a machine-turned instrument bezel. The seller purchased the car last year, and service during their ownership reportedly included replacing the timing belt, fuel pumps, and thermostat, along with rebuilding the fuel sending unit, fuel injectors, and radiator. This Cosworth Vega is now offered with factory literature, a build sheet, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The exterior is finished in Mahogany with gold pinstripes. Equipment includes chrome bumpers and window surrounds, body-colored mirror caps, and a single exhaust outlet. Paint chips and other imperfections are shown up close in the gallery below, and a six-digit California blue plate is mounted out back. Factory 13″ Cosworth-specific wheels with gold centers wear 205/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires that were reportedly installed during the current ownership. A spare is located in the trunk. The cabin is upholstered in Buckskin and features seating for four occupants. Interior amenities include a perforated headliner, a factory stereo, manual crank windows, and floor mats. The seller notes that the clock works intermittently, the radio volume is low, the driver-side sun visor plastic mount is broken, and wear is present on the driver’s seat. The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a machine-turned instrument panel containing a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and voltage. The five-digit odometer shows 34k miles, approximately 400 of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

The all-aluminum 2.0-liter inline-four features a twin-cam cylinder head and Bendix electronic fuel injection. Service during current ownership is said to have included replacement of the timing belt, alternator belt, thermostat, water pump gasket, spark plugs and wires, fuel filter, fuel lines, and an in-tank fuel pump. The fuel sending unit was also rebuilt, as were the fuel injectors and radiator. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The transmission fluid, engine oil and filter were changed in preparation for the sale.

Factory literature and a build sheet accompany the sale.

Offered for sale on eBay in January and re‐listed in February of 2003: VIN: 1V7706U216294 with 48,265
miles. Back edge of dash and back of rear seat torn up from pictures, cam cover stripped, pulse air in
place, no Cosworth wheels or hood pad. Ad says: This is the RAREST of the RARE!!! 1976 Cosworth
Vega #3065, Buckskin/Buckskin. Cosworth #3065 of 1047 made in 1976. Chevrolet made the Cosworth
for two years 1975 and 1976 making approximately 2,460 in 1975. The only color available was black. In
1976 you could get colored cars and also black, again. My Cosworth is the rarest of the colored cars
produced with buckskin exterior and buckskin interior and has just about every option you could get.
This Cosworth would be the best investment of all the Cosworths available. NO AFTERMARKET PARTS ‐
ORIGINAL FACTORY INJECTION. As a car collector, I absolutely love this car but I cannot keep up on all
the maintenance required to keep every one in top condition, it's harder on them sitting then driving
them so I am going to liquidate all my vehicles and keep one project. I bought this car from the original
owner who sold his auto parts store and had the car sitting inside the back room for 24 years. I
purchased the car in 1995 brought the car to my shop and I replaced the fuel sending unit, fuel lines,
fuel pumps and filter. I then replaced timing belt and all the fluids. I completely tuned and cleaned the
injection, the car runs like new. The interior is in good shape but not perfect and the rear carpet and the
top of the rear seat needs attention do to the sun entering through the window. The car has never been
wrecked, straight as an arrow and has original paint and decals; the car is rust free except where the
battery acid corroded the battery tray. Front steering, suspension, drive train is original and in perfect
shape. For additional questions don’t hesitate to e‐mail. Upon conclusion of the auction the buyer has
24 hours to transfer funds and arrange pickup. Shipping and transportation arrangements are the
responsibility of the buyer. Please DO NOT BID if you cannot complete the purchase! Good luck to all
the bidders!” The car is located in Salt Lake City.
