Nancy Willmes joined the club in September of 2009 and her application confirms her address and the VIN. She
also wrote to say that her car is not blue and has never been out of California. It appears that the car
may once have been owned by a Caleb Sexton of Modesto, CA

Offered for sale by Dave Darrow in December of 2007. As indicated above, it is a white with red interior
car. The dash pad is black, the floormats are black, the carpet looks to be shot in the driver’s footwell, it
has a “racing” steering wheel, an aftermarket steering wheel with a graphic equalizer hung under the
dash, and ugly black speakers cut into the door panels. The trim on the swingouts is missing. The hatch
is showing some rust popping through the paint, and on the body above the swingouts. It has the
rectangular black fender decal, which does not seem stock, and a chrome twin tailpipe exhaust. There is
no hood pad or PAIR; it has some really funky twin circular air cleaners, an incorrect oil filler plug, and
rusty inner fender panel beside the battery. The plug wire retainer is missing, and it has a custom
fabricated shield to protect the power brake booster from header heat. The black cap is missing from
the MAP sensor. The coil wire is red and “protected” by some wire loom plastic guard! The wiring
harness that is supposed to run just under the cowl has been routed down below for some reason.

His CVOA website ad said: #3108: 1976, 137,000 miles (rebuillt engine w/ slightly higher comp. ratio), 5-
sp, White w/red interior, formerly autocrossed, straight body and original paint. I bought it ~1-1/2 years
ago. Haven't had time to do anything except drive it occasionally.

ALL PAINT, INTERIOR, GRAPHICS, WHEELS, EXTERIOR TRIM, GLASS, ETC. ARE ORIGINAL AND IN SHOW
CONDITION. The car has been trailered only to shows since purchase from Kruse. This car is in 100%
Original Condition with exception of the battery and tires. The original floor mats are still in the
car. There have been no modifications to the car; it is as delivered from the factory. There is a dime size
ding on the rear quarter panel, the paint is not broken (see photo). I purchased the car this way and
would have had Dent Wizard fix it but I'm afraid the paint might break in the process. THE CAR HAS NO
RUST OF ANY KIND, ANYWHERE. The engine compartment has never been cleaned and shows
great. Underneath the car is in great condition also. The car has been started weekly and is always
covered in my garage with a battery tender attached. The car cover goes with the car. The car’s
external fuel pump seems a little loud to me and I have a new rebuilt external fuel pump that cost me
$195.00 that will go with the car. The car runs, starts, and drives perfectly. The shifter is tight and shifts
as new. The brakes are straight and true with no noise. There are no vibrations of any kind. This car is
100% drivable, but is really a show car. I am not seeking to get what the car sold for at the Kruse
Auction. I am aware that the value of collector cars has fallen since it was purchased at Kruse. The
RESERVE is Thousands Less than the Kruse purchase price. But the price it brought is a true reflection of
the cars condition and rarity. Please call Dennis @ 304‐913‐4314 or email jdchoate@frontier.com with
any questions. I am retired and can be reached at any time. I can keep the car covered and garaged for
up to 30 days after the car is paid for in full. I will also assist in anyway if you are having the car shipped
to your location. Buyer must make shipping arrangements and pay all costs of shipping. A $1,000
deposit must be paid within 48 hours of the auctions end by BANK WIRE TRANSFER, CASH, or BANK
ISSUED AND CERTIFIED CHECK. The balance is due within 7 days of the auctions end by BANK WIRE
TRANSFER, CASH, or BANK ISSUED AND CERTIFIED CHECK.

This car appeared on eBay in May of 2009. “This is a 2 owner unmolested Cosworth Vega. Original paint
and pretty much everything else is untouched. Supposed to be 1 of 1 in this color combo but I cannot
find enough info to substantiate that. I have a bunch of original paperwork that includes the window
sticker and build sheet. The only flaw is a small ding in the right rear quarter panel that could probably
be removed by a skilled paintless dent removal guy but I do not want to take a chance of possibly
cracking the paint. The under carriage could stand to be detailed as it is in original condition. Runs and
drives great and does not have any leaks. Purchase this vehicle and you will feel like the original owner
did ‐ very proud to say you own it. The miles you see are the actual miles on this vehicle. There are no
signs that this vehicle has ever been smoked in. This vehicle's body does not have any damage at all or
any signs of repaired body damage. Exterior is free of any damage or repairs. Flawless finish looks like it
was just driven off the lot. This vehicle looks like it has never left its' garage. The transmission is tight
shifting and smooth. This vehicle runs like the engine was very well taken care of. You won't find any
electrical problems with this vehicle. This vehicle is perfectly sound, no known defects. This extra clean
exterior makes this used auto look new. This vehicle looks brand new inside. There is more than 75%
tread life left on the tires. If you have any questions about this or any of my other auctions please feel
free to contact me via e‐mail by clicking here or you can call me at 516 351 6059” It has 21,500 miles, is
tan with a red (!) vinyl interior and carpet, and sports a VIN of 1V77O6U217519.

According to the discussion on the Yahoo! board: From my memory, it belonged to a Fort Wayne,
Indiana, eye doctor (my Region & a CVOA member) back in the early 80's. Sold to another Fort Wayne
resident that transferred to Kentucky or North Carolina in the late 80's or early 90's in which that point
in time, the Cosworth "disappeared". Paul Wicker & I have only seen this car once and really, we haven't
seen another color combo like this one. bob chin

Rare for a reason :) Yes, that is the same car that was in Indiana, I had already seen the auction and it is
the same VIN and dash # I had for that car. I show it owned by a Richard Shoultz back in 82. So far, I
don't have, nor will I ever have, all the Cosworths of color in the database, but to date that is the only
entry I have of a Buckskin exterior, Firethorn interior color combo. He has a picture of the body tag and
it shows the correct numbers. 71W for the Firethorn interior and 65U 65L for the Buckskin exterior. Not
sure why they made Buckskin a color option in the first place much less put firethorn interior in it but
they could and they did. The database I have been working on for the last 10 years shows 9 Buckskin
cars and all have buckskin interiors, either vinyl or cloth that I show. With over half the colors filled in
during the color option run of the Cosworths, I would say there were probably only 15‐20 Cosworths
done in Buckskin and it looks like most all had the buckskin interior as well. The same held true for the
saddle cars. I show 15 saddle cars and all have buckskin interior listed except 1 that has black. As for the
unleaded fuel only, I have a bunch of Cosworths that have never been repainted that don't have that
sticker. Either fuel constantly spilling on it or people removing them would be my guess. They did look
kind of tacky on the car. For the rear pinstripes, it does look like they are gone. Maybe rear end damage
or maybe the tail end of the car was sticking out a car port and they got so faded that the owner buffed
them off. At one point I wanted to have one of every color Cosworth (except buckskin) LOL
Unfortunately almost every Cosworth in California was black because they loaded up the state in late 75
and early 76 before they offered the other colors and the dealers were backlogged with black cars they
couldn't sell. Almost every colored Cosworth I have seen in California was originally sold in another
state. That might have been one of the reasons Baher Chevrolet did the dealer installed Landau tops
and painted the cars different colors to try and sell them like the 2 tone and others they did. Wow, that
ended up being longer than I originally anticipated :) Chris Wheaton .

Purchased by Claudio A Duarte Pereira of Rio De Janeiro, RJ, Brazil (www.duarte‐pereira.com) in May of
2008. He wrote: Unfortunately the car is not in Rio. Actually it has not yet left upstate New York as the
carrier I hired to collect it has somehow disappeared. It may be tempting luck too much, but I have
never seen the car or the carrier: I bought the car in eBay and hired the carrier in uShip. It will be
shipped to Miami, Florida where it will join a standard Vega I also bought, for consolidation into a 40’
container. They will then be shipped to Rio to face the bureaucratic nightmare of clearing customs as a
collection vehicle. When this is over I will be very pleased to send you the story and photos. In this
meantime please include us (me and the Vegas) in your prayers for surviving that ordeal in a sane
condition. I will keep you posted.” He later wrote: “My '76 CV is probably the first and only CV in Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil. It was previously owned by Steve Ballstrom, of Ballston Lake, NY, and imported into Brazil
last year. For traffic licensing purposes the engine number needs to be checked by the local DMV. I
could not locate it and I am not very happy with the idea or dismantling anything to continue the search.
Do you know where is stamped the engine number on a '76 CV? Thanks in advance. Claudio.” He was
directed to the Stampings page of the website. He also reports: I finally had the chance to thoroughly
go through my #3122 which appears to be one of the very few delivered with the “UM2 STEREO TAPE
W/AM/FM STEREO RADIO”. Miraculously the player still works fine and I got twenty‐something tapes
with the car when i bought it. On the positive side it has “STEREO” printed on it and a yellow light
indicator which goes on when a FM stereo broadcast is tuned. On the negative side it has only one
loudspeaker in the front, on top of the dash, in the center, and only one loudspeaker in the trunk space,
on the right hand side. In 8‐track mode (when a tape is inserted), the volume knob works normally and
also switches between tracks if pressed. The tuning knob is disabled. The controls ring behind the
volume knob acts as a fader balancing the sound between front and rear; and the control ring behind
the tuning knob changes between bass and treble. No control exists for balancing left and right. The
manual actually is quite funny. It states: “Balancing the speakers is not required as this adjustment has
been made at the factory. Should it become necessary to make this adjustment, see your Chevrolet
dealer.”

Listed on eBay in May of 2008: I am pleased to offer this COSWORTH VEGA for those who would like to
own one and have no time to restore one.. I will not go into the Cosworth History. If you are here then
you know all about the history. This car started life at the Lordstown 13 plant, Lordstown, Ohio in
1976. It was purchased by dealer ALVIN JONES CHEVROLET‐OLDS, Dickson, Tenn. It stayed in the
dealer’s possession until July 7, 1982. It was bought by Jimmy Nicks Used cars in Dickson for $5750.00. It
was in his possession until 1988 when sold to a friend with 79 miles on the odometer. The original MSO
went with the car. The new owner resided in Clarksville, Tenn. The car was finally registered in
Clarksville, Tenn. in 1988. This owner had the motor maintained and completely checked over by Bill
Hutton on April 30 1991 with 3,780 miles. The owner put on approx. 7,000 odd miles until deciding to
sell it in 2002. I purchased the car with 7,449 miles on the odometer. This car has been kept inside on a 4
post lift only taking it on occasional rides and to car shows. The Cosworth # is 3122. All documentation,
original Bill of Sale, Build sheet, and maintenance receipts come with the car. The tires (4), battery and
muffler have been upgraded. There is no catalytic converter‐‐that was replaced with a "test pipe" by Bill
Hutton. The spare tire is original. The factory front license plate attachment bracket has never been
installed and is in the original envelope. The AM‐FM‐8 track radio is 1 of 28 sold that year. The 8 track
works and I will include a box of tapes with the sale. All guages work, even the clock. The "original
window sticker" is still in place. Options on the car as noted are: Soft ray tinted glass; Floor mats; Door
edge guards; Rear defogger; 5‐Speed; Stereo AM‐FM‐8 track; Auxiliary lighting; Swing out rear
windows. All items are in working order. This car has multiple plaques, trophies, awards from Rhinebeck
NY, Bennington, Vt, Lake Placid NY, Chevy Dealers Capital dist. Many Cosworth owners know this car and
can testify to the condition. There are minor chips and dings here and there. The paint is an eight (8) out
of 10. See photos. No rust at all on the car. This car is ready to travel: buy it, drive it home. This is a
Reserve sale only. The bids will be received up till the end of the auction regardless if reserve has been
met. If this vehicle has not been sold, it will not be offered again. If there was an error in listing this item,
corrections will be added. You can buy a cheaper one and work on it, or buy this one and enjoy it ASAP. I
will not give out the reserve price or send 2nd chance e‐mails. This is an "as is" sale. A $500.00 non‐
refundable money order is to be made within 36 hrs of close of the auction. Buyer is to contract seller
with in 24 hrs of sale to discuss the details of sale, and vehicle has to be paid in full and picked up within
2 weeks of auction completion. Cash sale only... No personal checks/Money transfers or Bank checks. No
trades or bargaining. Feedback will be left either pro or con.....This is your chance to purchase a great
car. Do not pass this up. If you do it's your fault. Thanks for looking and good luck if bidding. Hopefully
all pics will give you an idea of what it is really like. Thanks. Car is listed as being in Clifton Park, NY.

Summer, 2003. CV #3122 was bought 1 year ago w/7200 miles on the clock. When I go to car shows
people look for the macho/built cars and drool over themselves. It just shows they are ignorant to the
fact that these cars are very odd, rare and unique. To us guys and gals these cars are a very special part
of auto history. These cars should be worth more to the john Q public than the 69 Roadrunner with
numbers not matching/bogus interior, aftermarket wheels. These cars are going for good dollars to
stupid people. Not that I will sell my car but it would make me feel better about how valuable these cars
can be. Unfortunately it’s like baseball cards; it’s only worth what the public will pay. Well comrades,
don't settle for less if you have a great car, scrap and pillage the bad so the parts can be available for the
rest of us, and most of all FIND OUT HOW MANY ARE LEFT. I never get an answer to that specific
question. Steve ssafstro@nycap.rr.com
