Seen alongside the road in mid‐October, 2002 in Olmsted Falls, OH. Sign says for sale, $5,200 or best
offer. Cracked windshield. Chipped paint in front and rusty spots, original wheels, ECU lying in the back
so it may have Webers, no tail panel stripes and logo/decal is a fender decal in place of the small
lettered logo. Black exterior, dash and carpet, but seat upholstery is a light blue cloth! VIN is
1V77E5U219398. No license plate. Steve Larson says his 1988 data indicates the interior was originally
black cloth.
I have local CV owner who is looking for some information on two of his CV's. The dash numbers are
0680, and 2171. He has picked up both as parts cars and did not get much info on either one. Any help
would be appreciated. Thanks, John J. Cowall
John, I don't show anything on 2171 so if you can get the info on that one, I would like to add it. As far
as 0680, I have a note that car was in Ohio a while back and Mark Rock had told me it was for sale. I
have a strange listing on it that it had light blue interior with a big? I guess someone changed it out at
one time. If you see the car can you check the interior code on the body plate in the engine
bay? Thanks, Chris
Norm Hotchkiss is the owner of both #0680 and 2171. I met him when he bought #0999 off me. After
talking with him, he is planning on joining the CVOA and at the end of June he plans on parting out both
#0680 and #2171. Both cars are rotted out, so he says. I asked about #0680 especially, since when I
asked him to e‐mail all the VIN info, he replied that the VIN for #0680 is 1V77B5U219398, which would
mean the car is a clone. As for Mark's entry, the last six numbers are right and the rusty description fits.
Norm says the car now has a black vinyl interior. Norm did not get much history on either car when he
bought them.

Feb. 2005: Howdy, everyone. I have owned #0709 for 17 years. I haven't driven it lately as the car has started to fall apart cosmetically. Rust has taken hold of the body and doesn't want to let go. Engine is perfect, as it only has about 20 miles on it since a total rebuild. I’m really looking for a descent body to transplant it into. Preferably a "76" w/5 speed and swing out rear windows. So if anybody out there has any info on the whereabouts of anything that fits the profile, let me know right away. Thanks. Bob bobtaylor57@cs.com

Does anyone know who owns Cosworth Vega #0709 or where it is? It was my former CV. It was sold thru a dealer in New Castle, PA and came to Florida with the original owner. I purchased it from him. It had the die-cut background fender decals. These were the original decals as installed from the factory when I purchased it in 1986. As I used to own this CV I would be interested in buying it back. I live in Clearwater, Florida. I sold it to a young man from Zypher Hills, Florida, just outside Tampa. That was back in 1987 or 88. The last time I saw the car it was sitting under tree at a transmission repair shop in that area with the engine out of it in pieces from a spun bearing. The young man worked at that shop. If anyone knows the whereabouts of this CV please contact me at EagleFish1@aol.com. Thanks. JD. Yahoo Post 2/28.2002

I'm a former (twice) Region V Director of the CVOA. I was the one who found the method by which the CVOA finally became incorporated. I owned four Cosworths with a friend of mine, Richard Schruefer, when I lived in Clearwater, Florida. My first Cosworth was #0709, a typical 1975 black on black version. One of the best running original stock Cosworths I have ever run across. This CV just seemed to have everything working the way it should. I used just like to sit in the car and hear it idle. It sounded like a lot more than four cylinders. I raced it on the street numerous times against some formidable competition (read V8s). I could beat a stock pre-19861/2 (before the roller cam 302) from 20 mph rolling start. And, yes, my CV was stock. Gee, that was fun! The other Cosworths were a: 1975 black on black #127 in excellent original condition, 1975 black on black #1157, and another excellent original 1976 white over red #3125. This last car was purchased dirt-cheap because the owner couldn't get it to run right. It had a burned valve on #4 cylinder, a bad in-tank fuel pump and a bad map sensor. Unfortunately, all of the cars have been long sold. John Mathe, jdmtfm@aol.com

Posted on new CVOA Websiteby John MaHoney Jr. I have decided to start to thin down my collection, and after long consideration I decided that this car would be one to go. I have owned this car for 6 years and purchased the car from the original owner. Due to my arthritis it is getting more and more difficult to get in and get out of this car, and it pains me to sell it after wanting one since I first started reading about them in Motor Trend and Car and Driver in in 1973 and 74. This car was sitting in dry storage for it's entire life. I have the original bill of sale and build sheet. This is car 0718 out of the 3508 of total production in 1975 and 76., .The car has 79,000 miles and runs GREAT! I had come upon the aftermarket Hutton Dual Weber Carburetor set-up, and replaced the original Electronic Fuel Injection set-up, I do have all of the original EFI parts and they will go with the car. Some of the paint is still original in areas but it has been touched up. It still has the original Delco spiral shocks on it which perform as the did when new. Since I have owned it I had the original rims restored, 5 new tires, new exhaust from the original factory stainless steel header back, new tie rod ends and center link, new fuel pump, new Delco clutch, new clutch cable, the close ratio 4 speed transmission was overhauled with new bearings and syncro rings, new U joints were installed. original starter was rebuilt, new brakes, radio speaker was rebuilt, new hoses and radiator was boiled out. new Steele weatherstrip on the hatch and the doors, had a new headliner installed, and I know that there are many other items replaced that I did not mention. Car is very fast! Car is titled to me and is located on Long island New York. It turns heads everywhere we take it! I know that these two words were seldom mentioned in the same sentence 'solid' and ' Vega' but this is.... a solid vega. I feel it is priced very reasonable at $14,000 for a car you start and drive anywhere tomorrow. THERE ARE NOT TOO MANY CARS THAT ONE CAN BUY IN THIS HOBBY THAT IS TURN KEY FOR UNDER $20K! This car is an attention getter and crowd gatherer when ever I take it out to drive or display. This is a great entry level car or a great car to compliment your collection. This is all supported by a great national club of extremely knowledgeable fellow Cosworth enthusiasts. I must have well over 150 magazines from the COVA loaded with GREAT tech articles, like it should be! The car comes with the original Bill of sale from Green Chevrolet in Monticello NY, Build Sheet, manuals and much more! CV #0723 RIP- Accordion Car/ Hutton engine Webers Black/ Black Vinyl – Bought from a guy in Monroe, MI. in fall of 1998 (I think). Guy bought the car out of a junkyard. The front end had been smashed, grill missing, and the back drivers corner had been pushed in a bit, car was in front and rear collision. He never even bothered to try and open the rear hatch! Car ran well, he brought to a Regional Roundup in Ann Arbor, MI. We bought the car from him for $850.00. I put on a replacement grill, bumper, and opened the hatch, and got the hatch locking mechanism working. Inside the trunk were papers for the car. I was at least the 7th owner of the car. The engine had been rebuilt by Hutton Motor Engineering , 10:1 compression, and the 4 speed had been rebuilt. I drove the car off and on for 3 years! I put that motor in 4 different CVs! Eventually pulled the motor from it, traded the car to get a paint job for #2550. I believe it was 2002 when the car was parted out. (Cowall Owned 9-98 to 7-2002)
