Originally owned by George Coon. He purchased the car while in the Navy and used it while stationed in
Italy. This car was used on the Autobahn in Germany at speeds over 100 MPH. When he came back the
engine blew, and the re‐build blew, too. The car went to Member Dave Bower who sold it (and 2
others) to the Cowalls when he moved to North Carolina. They took the engine from #2769 that they
had bought from him and put it in the car and parted out #2769. This engine later put a rod through the
side of the block on the Southfield Freeway, and it sat for over a year without an engine.

Owned by John J. Cowall. My dad and I just put the finishing touches on 1002 (October, 2002). It has 76'
rear end brakes, a five speed, a 76' clutch cable assembly, new carpet and a nice, clean interior, and a
Hutton rebuilt motor with 10.5 to 1 pistons, rebuilt head, and 42mm carburetors with approximately
50K on it. The rear end is a 3.73 posi. Now I am going to get it painted and striped in the next few weeks.

CV #1002 RIP – Black/ Black Vinyl- Bought November 1992 (as package deal $2800 with CV #0279 and CV #2769) – No engine, original engine had a spun bearing, so we got some of those pieces. Installed the engine from #2769 in it November 1992. Drove the car to storage for about a year. Used as a daily driver off and on, mostly off the road, from then on. In the Summer of 1994, right before CVOA Roundup, broke the block by screwing an oil sensor into the port in the block too far, the block split a the port. Bought another engine From Tim Morgan in 1995, installed that, used it for a few years. Spun a bearing, threw a rod through the side of the block in 1996? Or 1997? Driving home from school. Started restoration, on and off since 1997. Got the car amateur painted by Bernie Ellery, installed cloth interior, new carpet, installed a rebuilt 5 speed from Roy Linenburger, installed carburetors, installed 76’ clutch pedal assembly. Finally got the car driving in 2002, drove it out of the garage, steering box pulled away from Frame rail due to rust issues. Parted car out in 2002. Took car to the 1995 Detroit, MI Roundup. (Cowall Owned 11-92 to 6-2002)

Originally owned by Kevin Bair and now owned by Mal Kooiman of Zeeland, Michigan. 1003 was last
known to have been a parts car about ten years ago (1992). According to John Cowall, Mal Kooiman has
what is left of it.

This car appeared on eBay in March of 2004 with the following listing: This is a very nice Cosworth Vega,
one of 2061 made in 1975. The Cosworth Vega is not your Mother's Vega. One of the rarest cars made
by G.M. See it's complete history at the web site ‐cosworthvega.com. This Car shows well at Car Shows
and has won several Trophies. The paint while older shows a good polished shine. The interior is like
new condition. The dash is high polished Engine turned, as it should be. I believe this car to be one of
the best in Michigan. This car draws more interest than any of my other Collector cars. Most people

David, I have #1008, a '75 CV. It is on the take down side of a rebuild (work therapy). I am taking the
vehicle apart piece by piece. I have Wilwood Calipers and Sierra Discs for the front and will soon have
the same for the back. The goal is to have the rear end rebuilt with a 4:56 and posi this summer along
with a powder coated finish and the discs. I have some more suspension bits to remove and clean
before I take most of the movable parts to the powder coater. I have the first cuts done on the front
hubs and spindles in preparation for the discs and calipers. A little more work on the hubs and some
fabricating of the brackets is left. The interior is stripped and I'm starting measurements for the roll
cage (I've always wanted one of them.) Fiberglass is still in the evaluation stage probably phase 2 or 3. I
am sending the wheels to Wheel Medic in the next month or two. The plan is to mount a set of
205/55/13 DOT racer tires on them. I have acquired new front and rear sway bars per the Duke
Chronicles. I already had Konis from way back. I'm looking at the suspension points to reduce potential
binding. Engine work will begin this winter. I have Webers, oil pan, and Hutton Valve job. I also
acquired a set of the re‐timed pulleys and 10.75 CR pistons and studs for the head. Next is a crank
straightening, line boring and a cylinder squaring hone job. Porting and some minor ignition work will
be on the horizon next spring. So for right now it's one piece at a time. Keep me posted on your plans.
Thanks, Jim Kays. Currently still registered to Jim Kays. JDS

CV 1009 was my daily driver when I was in college, and I could not afford to spend the $250+ bucks and
wait several weeks to get the external pump rebuilt. I dug through the books and found a pump that
would work in the tank. $60 in stock with a lifetime warranty won out over the other. Any way, I do not
have a driveable CV any more, but I do have a couple of complete engines from cars that I parted out
over the years. I have a '74 panel truck that could get one of the CV engines, a 327, or a 427 big block.
Not sure yet. I sold CV 646 because I had lost interest in a stock CV, and I did not want to put a V8 in a
CV body, even though I know that it can be done without cutting the body. My first car was a '74 Vega
Hatchback that I eventually put a SBC in. Not the first thing cut to do it. A panel wagon with a 2.3L CV
with reindexed cam sprockets and aftermarket EFI sounds cool though. Thanks for replying, John. It was
good to hear from someone in the CVOA again. Dave

This car appeared on eBay in March of 2009 out of Columbus, KS. The ad read, “This is a 1975 Chevrolet
Cosworth Vega that I have decided to sell. That is the original miles on the car and the original paint
which paint is weathered. The car has been stored inside most of its life and is not rusted out as most
Vegas are. In case you know nothing about the Cosworth Vega it was the 1st fuel injected vehicle
manufactured by GM and built in 1975/1976 with around 3500 units built in both years...This is # 1015.
All 75 models were black w/gold stripes and when new sold for as much as a new Corvette. This car was
running and driving several years ago however it has been sitting and will need the fuel tank cleaned
before attempting to be started....engine does crank over and fires when primed with a shot of gas. I
had installed new exhaust, front brake rotors& pads and have rear brakes not installed which will be
included. This car does have what I would call a very solid body. All floor pans, frame rails and common
Vega rust prone areas are good and solid. I have included a lot of pictures of the car along with
some dented areas and some shots of the areas around the windshield & rear pillars which are rust free.
Interior is original, will need headliner recovered and rear carpet is faded. It’s a sweet little car that just
needs some lovin.”

Appeared on eBay in October of 2005: It has 106,000 miles and the VIN is 1V77E5U234638. 1975
Cosworth Vega, Limited Edition #1016, one owner, good condition, interior in excellent condition. No
wear on seats. All new tires. New battery. Starts and runs easily. Body in good shape. Always garaged.
The interior is black. There is one small rust spot on one of the front fenders. It has low compression in
the front cylinder, but still runs very well. I did experience a vapor lock last summer (temp‐100 degrees)
after driving about 90‐120 miles. It had never done that before. Once it was off for about 20', it ran fine.

I found it. It was originally purchased in Beaverton, Oregon, most likely at Carr Chevrolet where my 76
GT was bought new. It turns out that it is owned by the guy I traded my FI to for my Webers. I am
getting the VIN from him on Sunday, and will likely post pics of it if I get them. The car is apart and he
has lost interest due to the "unavailability of parts". He said that he ran it for a while using a Toyota
timing belt!!! More details on that to follow. He may join the Club. It sounds like I may have sparked
something. I think the Cosworth bug migrates through here every year about this time. He called me
with the intent of selling it. I was interested until he said $4000—disassembled! Sometimes I really
wonder about the "300 left in existence". Heck, by the year 2010 CSWRTH1 will have that many! LOL

The complete dash from this car appeared on eBay in September of 2007, so I am declaring this car RIP.

Posting in website guest book in August of 2003: I just bought #1024. It has not been licensed since ‘82
and needs very little to get it running but I can’t find motor specs or electrical charts. Any leads would
be great. Steve Thoren, glasspad@webtv.net
