According to a membership application in June of 2012, this car now belongs to Stephen Kirkey of
Cornwall, Ontario CA. Indeed it does, as this inquiry confirms: "I have a 1975 Cosworth Vega # 1194. It is setup with dual
Weber carbs..." Stephen Kirkey

Owned by Michael Rushton‐‐a restoration project. Check out his website.
http://www.angelfire.com/ca2/michaelrushton/ Right now my 1975 Cosworth Vega is still being re‐
assembled. I have hundreds of hours in the bodywork. There was surface rust on the bottom 10 inches
of the body and the top sides look like it was left out in a hail storm. My friend Laurie Daniels (a
professional body man) did the high skill work and I did most of the sandblasting and body sanding.
Because it is black, I wanted it perfectly straight. After the bodywork we put on one gallon of DuPont
urethane primer, followed by two gallons of fill primer. There was much block sanding between coats of
primer. Laurie was a body man at GM garage when Vegas were new and he says that the car is better
than the factory paint now. We used DuPont Chroma urethane for the topcoat and it is STRAIGHT!! It is
a rare Chevrolet Vega in that it came with a 4 valve per cylinder dual overhead cam engine designed by
Cosworth Engineering for Formula racing. Other unique features of Cosworths included: cast alloy
wheels from England, stainless steel tri‐Y headers and multi‐port computer controlled fuel injection.
Each car was numbered with a special dash plaque. My Car is #1194. It is a black 4 speed car with a
black vinyl interior. I have stripped it down to bare metal, taken out the windows and sandblasted away
the rust. The car was all original except the multi‐port fuel injection was replaced by Weber 42DCOE side
draft carbs ‐‐ 2 x two barrels. I rebuilt the motor, starter, water pump, carbs and alternator. I put in a
new clutch, door/hatch and hood rubbers, battery, brakes, shocks, NOS carpet, and 205 / 60R13 Comp
T/A tires. All new paint and a new stripe kit finish the job.
Car was offered for sale on KiJiJi, a free local classifieds site in Georgetown, Ontario, Canada in October
of 2011. The ad reads, "fully restored, Oklahoma car, excellent condition, all original except Weber
carbs conversion, very unique, pampered & great running collectors car, 34,000 original miles. $8500,
Phone 647 986 7437, Georgetown, Ont."

As of 4/27/05 posting in Guest Book by Gary S. Weaver: Picked up #1200 about four weeks ago. It has
not been driven since ‘85. I bought it from its original owner. It is undergoing restoration at this time. If I
need information, this site is my first stop. Hi to all the CVOA members. I’m looking forward to getting
the Cosworth up and running. I will make it to a Roundup in the future. Black vinyl interior, rear
defroster, swing out quarter windows. AM/FM stereo. Open rear differential. Rear speaker. All there
and unmolested. Light rust in the usual places ‐ Tank was real bad due to gas cap not seated properly
for the past 20 years. KCTBigg@aol.com

Offered for sale on eBay in February of 2005: “This Vega is in rather good shape for a 30 year‐old car. I
bought this car a while back because I always wanted a Cosworth Vega and wanted to "play" with
one. With time and space restrictions, some of the toys have to go. Since I haven't had the time to do
much to this car, it is easy for me to let go of it. The interior is worn, but overall not too bad. The
driver's side seat has a few tears. The carpet on the front driver’s side is worn badly. The carpet in the
hatch area is sun faded and rotted as is the top and rear of the back seat. It still has fuel injection;
however, I put in new RC Engineering fuel injectors because a couple of the old injectors had stuck
opened. The new fuel injectors required a custom made fuel rail. It runs, but not what I would consider
great. It idles fast and a little rough. Because I don't have it licensed or insured, I haven't driven it much,
just up and down the block. It actually drove fine and felt peppy, but you can't tell much in that short of
distance. It has a relatively new paint job that looks good. The wheels are a little rough looking and the
tires have cracks. It is a Vega so yes there is some rust. The driver's side floor pan has had some repairs,
but underneath the car you can see where the rust has taken its toll on that area. The spare tire well
has a couple of big rust areas. There are some electrical issues with the car. Some of the gages, such as
the tach, do not work. The problems may center on the bulkhead connector in the firewall. The brake
light switch moves sometimes, causing the brake lights to stay on. This car does not have Posi‐Traction
or flip‐out rear windows. The odometer shows 35,8xx and I have no idea how accurate that is. This car
is located in Wood River, IL, which is about 20 miles east of St. Louis, MO. The car is sold as is, no
implied or stated warranty. The buyer must pick‐up the car in Wood River.” The VIN is
1V77E5U248171. Looking at the pictures of the car, the entire driver’s footwell rusted away and has
been cut out. Also, the spare tire well is full of rot. This car looks good on the outside, but is full of
cancer inside. Caveat emptor. Sold for $2275!!!

Offered for sale on eBay in August of 2003. The paint is brand new also decals.
The interior is in pretty good shape. It has been sitting for a few years. At this time it does not want to
idle very well. Probably from sitting around???? The brakes are good and it shifts well. There is no body
damage that I know of, and no body rust‐out before painting. It probably needs a new rug. This one is
ok (it is going to need some floor pan repair, and spare tire holder area repair.) Please ask questions.
Due to the rough idling, it should not be driven away. (((Not drivable.))) The interior is good, but the
driver’s seat needs repair. Black vinyl interior, 35,861 miles. Wally Gimo@home.com
Previously owned by Dave (?) out of Southern Michigan.

In an August 2010 post, Jimmerz said, “Hey gang I’m having an issue with #1218. A few weeks ago i
went up to start it to just keep stuff somewhat fresh because i had filled the tank up with new gas and
had planned on doing the head gasket and other ones as well before actually putting the car on the
road. anyway my uncle was with me and wanted to sit in the car so I let him get behind the wheel and
give it a rev or three and when we were done he turned the car off but he never used that lever to turn
the key back to the off position and he forced it back in a panic because he couldn't get the key out
rather than using the lever that there in most cars to allow the key to go back one more notch and then
be pulled out correctly. So now I have a problem with the damn ignition. the key is hard to get in and
out and it’s very hard to turn the key in either direction, I should mention I can get the car to want to
turn over but it does not start now, but that could also be because it’s been a few weeks since I last
went up there to tinker and it takes a few tries and I only tried it twice. Is there a fix for this or am I
going to have to replace some ignition parts?
