Offered for sale on eBay in June of 2007. The ad reads, “This is a very nice Cosworth Vega with under 27K miles. It is number 1685. Everything works. It has 4 brand new tires. It has 2 extra wheels. I believe the mileage to be correct, but I don't know its history. I purchased it in Florida and drove it to California without a problem. I have the service manual and several magazine articles. It is missing the jack and lug nut wrench. It is also missing one piece of chrome on the right rear window. There is a small scratch on the front bumper. This is visible in the pictures. Please ask any questions and I will promptly answer.” The VIN is confirmed as 1V77E5U263751, and the mileage is now 26,850.

Offered for sale on eBay in March of 2005: “VIN:1V77ESU263751 Mileage: 23,473 Reprinted from the archives of Special Interest Autos 1975 Chevrolet/Cosworth Vega--Question: Are you among the many automotive enthusiasts who think that performance in the American automotive market was a dead horse by the mid-seventies? One look at this 1975 Chevrolet/Cosworth Vega may very well change your perspective of that period. While Detroit's mainstream offerings may have been watered down because of increasing safety mandates, fuel concerns and tighter emissions standards, there were a number of cars available that offered high performance while still allowing one to drive with a reasonably guilt-free conscience. Cosworth Engineering Ltd., an English firm that made its name by turning Ford's little four-cylinder 2.3-liter engine into a feared rally and road-racing powerplant, also made available a specially designed twin cam cylinder head for Chevrolet's 140-cubic-inch inline four cylinder. But it wasn't just the 16-valve cylinder head that set this Vega apart from the more than 200,000 of its siblings that sold in 1975. The 2,061 Cosworth Vegas created in its introductory year of 1975 boasted Bendix mechanical fuel injection, a modified bore/stroke ratio that pumped 122 cubic inches of air through solid lifter-actuated valves and out of large oval-port exhaust passages scavenged by tubular steel headers. That's right, headers on a 1975 factory offering! Though based on the production block, the internal components of these special engines were anything but your usual fare. The connecting rods were stress-relieved by the shot-peening process and spun on a forged Magna-Flux inspected crankshaft. Deep dished pistons likewise were specific to the Cosworth, based on its high-for-the-day compression ratio of 8.5:1. When one ran through the gears in the close-ratio four speed manual offered with these little rockets, the factory 120-horsepower rating could be attained at 5,200 rpm. The handling of this variation of the popular little Vega was made even better by utilizing a heavy-duty front suspension, torque arm-style rear suspension and 13 x 6-inch spoke alloy rim/tire combination. This much performance packed into a little package equated a disproportionate price tag, with the Cosworth edition commanding a price more than double that of its two-door hatchback sibling. ($5,916 vs. $2,899, factory MSRP). Our featured 1975 example has 16,000 miles showing on its odometer and still wears its original black with gold stripe paint scheme. Its white interior is in excellent condition and still houses the model's unique 8,000 rpm tachometer, sport steering wheel and Cosworth and original owner's certification plaques. Though the Cosworth Vegas may have been a quick flash in the pan on the automotive scene with a 1975-76-only production run, (1,446 built in 1976) the few surviving examples such as this one show that high performance was still on some minds in Detroit. It just came in smaller packages! If you have any questions...please e-mail me at luvdg@aol.com..You can call us Toll-Free at (800) 930-4002 or you may reach me at 954-895-7940

#1687 has an aftermarket sunroof installed, a ‘76 front grill on it, and possibly could be restored. It is in a junkyard in Michigan and is for sale, together with #3476 and #2641, for $4,000. From the story related to me by a CVOA member who found them, they are currently in a junkyard, but all are complete cars. The owner thinks he has a gold mine, and does not care how long he sits on them.

According to an August 2009 email from Al Bartlett, “Bought a parts car out of MA ('75 #1693) that was in Germany for a while. Quite a find for the money, Webers, good running built engine (sleeved, ported, cams), 5spd, posi, body rusted into oblivion. Salvaged what I could, but alas the body is a goner

From the January 2005 eBay listing and answer to a question: Listed as “1975 Cosworth Vega for parts or restore.” According to the description, “Limited production collector car. Original 4-speed trans, engine, rear axle, are intact. VIN 1V77E5U264103. Features an all aluminum 2.0 liter four cylinder motor with 16 valves, dual cams, a stainless steel header, electronic fuel injection and 4-speed transmission. Factory alloy wheels. No title, but you can easily get one. Only 200 made in 1975.” In answer to a question from a bidder: “I finally found the notes with the dash number it's 1967. [In fact it is 1697. Ed.] I have no title to confirm, but the odometer says 42,000 miles. Looking at the interior I believe it's correct. We were called to remove the car. It had been sitting under a pine tree for years and years. I had to work at the hood release to get it open. The motor has been protected from rain by the closed hood. The storage yard that the car is in now makes it hard for me to try and turn the motor over. At this point I would call it a rebuildable core. Mack”. The car was purchased by Ken Wilbur and he will part it out.
According to the new owner, “Well yesterday the guy finally dropped off the rusty Cos. It seemed worse than the pictures on eBay. The dash number is 1697 not 1967. Didn't get a title and every piece of paperwork that was in the glove box was rendered unreadable long ago. The wheels are OK. Well, about an hour and a half after 1697 was dropped off, we got it in the shop, pulsed the injectors manually, hooked up the carbon tune machine, oiled up the cylinders, and put a new battery under the hood. I was rewarded with a small cough from the engine of 1697, and after a couple more minutes, she roared to life in a cloud off smoke and sputtered and coughed until all 4 plugs started to work and about the time the head was warm to the touch it was happily purring along at about 1400 RPM. I had to shut it down however, as oil started to seep from almost EVERY gasket. But it runs which is more than I can say for my #1447 at this point. The engine/tranny will come out Wednesday night; everything else I need will get stripped out Saturday and 1697 will go to the crusher on Monday. BOO HOO. There is just nothing left of the body, SAD! Also sitting in the back seat of 1697 was a BRAND NEW gas tank! Ken Wilbur

Well it's time to start putting her together and in my search for parts I found 1702
It's striped down to shell with some typical rust . The guy says he has just about all the parts but in my opinion it to far gone to restore. My question is , is there much value in parts? He has motor and tranny but says it needs rebuild ( surprise!) and the out Sheetmetal is nice.the rest is packed away so I can't see it. Do you have any opinion on its value either "whole" or as parts? (Part of an e-mail sent ot John J. Cowall)
1702 is NO LONGER :(
This car sat for so long with previous owner set on restoring it that it became unsalvageable , today I cut it up to save the rear quarters, most of the other parts where removed by previous owner and I have them put away ,what's left will be going to the junk yard. 1975 Cosworth Vega
Has been garaged since 1981. Slowly have been working on her for the last few years.
She runs stops and yard drives, in my opinion, needs minor tweaking here and there to be road ready, and possibly some front end work.
I replaced the timing belt, the belt for the distributor, the alternator, alternator belt, plugs, all fluids, engine, oil, transmission, oil, differential oil, brake fluid, coolant. Coolant hoses have been replaced, gas tank has been taken down flushed with a new fuel pump install installed plus filter, new exhaust, new tires, all brakes, engine has about 50 to 60 psi oil pressure when it’s warmed up. she’s not perfect, she does have some leaks, scratches and small dings here and there.
Car is in my name, I have the last registration and the title.
If it’s listed, it’s available,
the mileage is 48,000 original miles the car’s been in a garage since 1981.
Please no negotiating over marketplace, serious buyers only. Thank you. $15000 in Foster,RI

This black/black vinyl car is listed on eBay in August of 2012. It has 70k miles, the VIN is 1V77E5U264318. The ad reads, "This auction is for one rare 1975 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega. It is as can been seen the Black version with gold stripes and with black interior. The car has a just over 70,000 miles on it and is all original as far as I can tell and has not had any Hot Rod modification that I can tell or see. Car was in running condition, but now has a one possible two bad injectors that need to be replaced in order to run. The motor can been shown and turned over but have removed injectors to avoid flooding out motor. The transmission shifts proper and seems to go thru gears good(not sure on condition/life of clutch never removed). The body is good accept for what can been seen on drivers door and behind it on quarter. The hood latch area needs to be replaced/fixed, and also included is a good replaced part/area. All four rims have been reconditioned at one time and look like new in my opinion and the tires are good. As far as the interior it is in good condition as well dash has no cracks on pad as far as I can seen and is complete. The seats are also in good condition in front no major rips tears, the back seat is good with the one exception the upper top back near window has the typical sun fade/dried out concerns. Rugs are good and even has what appears to be the original rubber floor-mats. Glass is all there and appears to be good. As far as the undercarriage there are a couple of areas that have some rust spots but appear to be all there overall, but don't forget the car is over 35yrs old. Overall it is a great project car for someone to work on and complete, and also there are not many out there. There is one complete on EBAY for $35,000, here is your chance to get one yourself. There is being sold as is where is, and is also for sale local as well. I do RESERVE to end the auction if sold locally as well. Please feel free to email if interested and want to set up a time to look at. Also can Delivery within a reasonable area for free, and also further for a fee. Feel free to ask any questions or concerns you might have. Thanks for looking and happy bidding. Since posted original put injectors back in car after trying to clean them, runs and drives but still smokes and farts so to speak due to the injectors still acting up." The car is located in the Rhode Island/Massachusetts area.

I just found this (www.cosworthvega.com) site (August, 2003). I like it very much. I own a 1975 Cosworth Vega #1704. It needs a lot of work but is 100% complete. Was driving it up till 3 years ago, now it's resting in the garage. I was a CVOA member several years ago. Justin Milette Twocam1704@aol.com
