This is a 1975 Cosworth Vega that I bought from a 77 year old man that was the only owner till me. His health got bad and he had bought it new and it was his baby. He had recently put new brakes, lines, tires, and a bunch more on it. I put a battery and belts on it and its been in my shop since.
Car is 56,000 and is incredibly clean. Paint has the normal checking but shines great. Interior is perfect and there is a box of O.E. parts he had collected also. I was going to keep it since my dad raced a vega for years in the 80's but its just sitting here. I put the battery in and it started right up. I even have a spare trans for the car that the old timer had and those are worth some money. I’m sure I missed something so feel free to ask any questions.

This 1975 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega is one of approximately 3,500 units produced over a two-year production run, and this first-year example is a running and driving project that spent time in Wisconsin and California before its 2020 acquisition by the current owner. Finished in black over black vinyl upholstery, the car is powered by a 2.0L twin-cam inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It also has pop-out rear windows, revised springs, gold-finished 13″ wheels, a heater, three-point front seatbelts, a serialized dashboard plaque, and a push-button AM/FM radio. The transmission was overhauled in 2020, at which time the flywheel was resurfaced, the driveshaft was fitted with replacement U-joints and balanced, and the clutch and tires were replaced. This Cosworth Vega project is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with uninstalled replacement rear window seals, a July 2020 service invoice, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.
1975 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega Hatchback Coupe 4-Speed Project
The car is finished in black with gold pinstriping and Cosworth Twin Cam lettering. Additional exterior details include pop-out rear windows, round headlights, color-keyed bumpers, and dual side mirrors. Replacement rear-quarter window seals are included in the sale. Corrosion is noted on the quarter panels between the doors and rear wheel arches, and photos show blemishes and areas of worn paint on various surfaces.
1975 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega Hatchback Coupe 4-Speed Project
Eight-spoke 13″ alloy wheels are finished in gold and were reportedly mounted with 205/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires in 2020. The Cosworth Vega featured revised springs as compared to standard Vega models, and a Panhard bar is mounted ahead of the rear axle. Braking is provided by front discs and rear drums.
1975 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega Hatchback Coupe 4-Speed Project
The front bucket seats and the rear bench seat are trimmed in black vinyl (19Y). Appointments include a heater, three-point front seatbelts, crank windows, and a push-button AM/FM radio mounted beneath a gold-finished serialized plaque. The vinyl on the outer portion of the driver’s seat is torn, and the dashboard is cracked.
1975 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega Hatchback Coupe 4-Speed Project
A gold engine-turned dashboard insert surrounds a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and voltage. The five-digit odometer shows 70k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership.
1975 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega Hatchback Coupe 4-Speed Project
The 2.0-liter inline-four features a Cosworth-designed twin-cam cylinder head as well as electronic fuel injection and tubular exhaust headers, and it produced 110 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque when new.
1975 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega Hatchback Coupe 4-Speed Project
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The transmission was rebuilt in 2020, at which time the clutch was replaced and the flywheel was resurfaced. The seller notes an exhaust leak in addition to corrosion on the underside of the car.

Sesat@tds.net Jacksonville, GA.” He also wrote in response to my inquiry asking for the VIN and other information: “Don't remember all. It was black on black vinyl. I purchased it new from EZ Davies Chevy in Redwood City, Calif. It died of a fire. I had the Webers, a cam, and it backfired through the intake and that was all. It was very sad. To top it off I had just gotten rid of the full coverage insurance. Its remains are in southeast Georgia.”

According to a July, 2009 eBay post, this car is located in Sarasota FL. According to Steve, the owner, the car is number 1911, and the VIN is 1V77E5U270468. The eBay ad says, “Here’s a COMPLETE 1975 Cosworth Vega DOHC engine and 4 speed trans combo. I bought the car from the original owner last year for my daughter to drive for her first car. It had the original paint that had gone bad so I had it stripped and painted PPG base clear. This is a beautiful 34,000 original mile one owner car. I'm going to install a late model S10 motor and overdrive trans to make it more reliable. I want the late model fuel injection and overdrive trans for her and I'm going to add A/C too. I'm selling the Cosworth motor, 4 speed trans, shifter, engine wiring, alternator, pulleys. Mass Air flow, air cleaner, computer (ECU), belts, fan, exhaust manifold, etc. -- the whole deal! When I install the new motor and trans, what I take out, you get!! I also have the factory hood with beautiful black base/clear paint if you want it. I installed an L/88 hood. This auction is not for the whole car!!! I have some extra smog tubes and parts that go with it too. Pick up only, unless you have a shipper that has a pallet I can set it on. I have a forklift. The motor is in the car running right now!! I can have it out in less than a week. A 70,000 mile motor just went for a grand without the trans and all the other parts. A bargain for the buy it now I'm asking. As with all my auctions, sold as is and the buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. Thanks. Steve
In June of 2011 Steve offered this car for sale. According to his listing: Nice 43000 original mile Cosworth Vega. I bought this for my daughter from a guy whose father bought it new! Serial number 1911. It had the original paint and 32,000 original miles when I purchased the car. It still has the original upholstery, carpet, mats, dash pad etc... nice low mileage car. The original paint was checking so I had it stripped and prepped and painted PPG black base coat clear coat. When I bought the car he gave me an NOS Cosworth sticker kit with the car!! I installed that too. Now for the custom part.... I had Moser Engineering do a 5 lug conversion on the front and rear. Clear coated 16" torque thrust II wheels on the rear and 15" on the front. New KYB shocks all the way around. Late model (2001) 4.3 V6 Vortec fuel injected motor with 4L60E electronic overdrive transmission with 2400 lock up stall. All new Stewart Warner gauges, alpine 9883 stereo with amp and custom subwoofer box. WOW! 3.73 rear end. Aluminum radiator with dual SPAL electric fans. Reprogrammed ECM computer. Custom built headers and dual exhaust. K&N intake system. Vintage A/C with serpentine pulley system. L/88 hood and rear spoiler. Made 188 hp at the wheels and 243 ft lbs at the wheels!!!! That's equal to like 225 hp and 325 ft lbs at the flywheel. This car runs! It has been an everyday driver for my 17 year old daughter for a year and a half. Very reliable!!!! She's wanting a Chrysler 300... sad day.... oh well.. Whatever makes her happy. If you have a vehicle and want to make a deal, ASK! It never hurts. It can be viewed in Sarasota Florida. An Alaska Cosworth owned by Larry Banning. He is putting a new motor in it in September of 2003.
1912 is among the living! Today I checked the fuel pressure again. It is at 29 psi static and 14-16 psi running. I pulled the hose off the fuel rail, put it in a jar and hooked the pump to the battery. It slowly built pressure but as I let my thumb off the line I noticed that the pressure was more air than fuel! I decided to check each pump independently.
First the in-tank pump: it did not run! Checked the connection at the body and had power and ground. I pulled the tank, removed the sending unit. When I put 12 VDC to the connections on top of the sending unit it did not run, but when I put the power to the pump it worked. Solution: cleaned and tightened the connection on the sending unit. Reinstalled tank, hit the key and this baby runs like a brand new one. November, 2003

#1914
According to an email in April of 2004: “I owned 1914 (San Rafael, CA) for 12 years before selling it in Charleston, WV~1990. robritchey@comcast.net
According to an April 21, 2004 phone conversation with Rob, who is a physician on Cape Cod, he bought this (he cautions that it may have been #1934, but rather thinks that was his friend’s Cosworth) car from DeLong Chevrolet on highway 101 coming out of San Francisco in the San Rafael area. The car had about 4000 miles on it, having been driven by the owner of the dealership. He paid “too much” for it, but he had fallen in love with the car.
After medical school he went into the Army and was stationed around the country, and he took his Cosworth with him. He drove it into the back of a U-haul and took it to Nebraska with him. He also trailered it to many other places, including Georgia, Texas, and Washington DC (he says he “carried it around like a sick baby”), where it was sideswiped by a bus. In 1991 he finally parted with it in West Virginia for the paltry sum of $800. The body was in perfect shape, no rust, it only had about 60k on it, but it wasn’t running properly—didn’t burn any oil, just wasn’t running right and he couldn’t find anyone to fix it properly, so in the midst of some personal problems, he parted with it.

Listed on eBay in November of 2011. Sold for 4,000. This is Dash Number 1915. It is a project car, it has not run in 20 years. I was told the problem was somewhere in the exhaust system. This car has been kept in the garage this whole time. I have the all service and overhaul manuals and the fuel injection manual. It comes with MANY additional parts, ranging from new to used. The various parts include (majority of items are new): brake parts, idle arm, rubber molding, ball joints, fuel injector system, trim, interior molding, intake manifold, several computer systems (one is new), exhaust pipes, various gauges, electrical wiring, 6 rims not including the 4 on the car already, center wheel caps, carpeting, various gaskets, small engine parts and hoses and engine sleeves. There is also seating, front grill, 2 doors and windshield from a donor car. I have so many parts in the garage a person would have to look at everything to determine if it is Cosworth related. There are also several engines in the garage but I am not sure if they are for the Cosworth or not." The VIN is 1V77E5U270577.
On Craigslist in December of 2011: This is a Limited Edition Car. Dash Number is 1915 out of 3508 made. It has 81,400 original miles. This is a project car and comes with MANY MANY MANY additional parts and comes with Service and overhaul Manual and Fuel Injection Manual. Listed for $3000.00 but will take best offer. Call 859-344-8279 after 6PM. Serious Calls ONLY
According to Yahoo groups post #25271, this car now belongs to Shaun Guillermin. He posted: Wanted to say thanks to Kathy and her family for a warm welcome and all they help they gave to get 1915 out of long term storage and off to its new home in Ohio. The car is solid and largely complete and she wasn't kidding when she said there were a lot of spares! In fact I still have to go back for two engines, a hood, etc. Is anyone familiar with the turbo conversion? Previously it was in CA and came to KY as a running turbo car. The work looks professional but there's no builder's log or records of what was done. The car has been laid up for at least 10 years or more and current mechanical condition is unknown. I've tried to track down a few prior posters here with no luck, so right now we're at a dead end. There was also a dash and glovebox from CV #1835, so we can add that one to the "parted out" category if it's not already accounted for. In June of 2012 he said that "...even it has some minor rust issues."

Owned by Doug Davidson in Minnesota, as of July 2004. He was a CVOA member in the early 80’s and has just rejoined. He reports in August 2005, after the Roundup, “when I was showing them all my pictures & videos my son in law commented on how different mine looked compared to almost all the rest, that’s why I was taking so much video, mine has been so modified I've forgotten what a stock Cosworth looks like under the hood.
