Air Filter Housing Modification

Casting out among CVOA Members for information & feedback, possible engine performance enhancement modifications at some point with the Air Intake Housing. Noticed after 5 years of ownership of #1057, the air filter canister end cap or opposite end from the inlet horn, circular pattern of perforation 1/2" holes had been discovered verses the traditional blanked or solid end cap. Holes dimensionally appear as manually drilled as an attempt for additional air flow capability enhancement with the conventional inlet horn?

FYI, the pulse air system has been eliminated prior to this ownership. Appreciate if any history is available. Many Thanks! Jim McIntosh

During vehicle development, it is my understanding the inlet horn opening was reduced for production to eliminate objectionable air intake in-rush noise. That said, I was under the impression that engine power restriction was based on restrictive exhaust and timing not intake flow. It is an interesting revision to the air cleaner end plate. Dont think I've seen such a nice modification before
