Front Frame Brackets
I am disassembling the front end on my 75 and getting ready to remove the brackets attached to the front frame members to deal with some rust issues. The tie rod running between the two brackets apparently helps control the spread between the members. I don't see anything about this tie rod in the frame section of the service manual and I don't have a full body manual. Are there any warnings about removing these brackets? Any need to remove weight on
the front tires?

I think your experience on the '71 confirms our theory. I think I will be OK by removing it for a short while as long as the K-member remains in place and there is no extra force that would push the frames apart. I think I will proceed with caution.
