i have Cosworth Vega 2541 . on deacceleration it will backfire. blew out my muffler.

has anyone seen this before?. it seems to run fine and passes CA smog test.

rpm comes down when it warms up. tried adjusting throttle position switch ( no effect noted)

any ideas? thanks
