Water pump backing plate?
I’m replacing the water pump, it broke a tang while tightening the bolts. Is there supposed to be a backing plate between the pump and the block?

I’m replacing the water pump, it broke a tang while tightening the bolts. Is there supposed to be a backing plate between the pump and the block?
Best to tighten gradually in 3 or 4 steps using a criss-cross pattern.
