According to Cosworth Vega Magazine‐63, this was once owned by Matt Jennings of Downers Grove, IL. 612‐317‐7516. A former Dale Malin car now driving down that great highway in the sky.

From the fact is stranger than fiction, this is related by former Region 5 Director Bill Addison in his June
2000 newsletter. “Another note: At the last car show I went to, a person approached me and said he
had a Cosworth but he was troubled because it had two Holley carburetors on his engine. I don’t think
that is original I told him as he looked at my engine. Later that day he left the dash plaque in my front
seat. It was #3188. This is probably the last batch of Cosworth Vegas produced in 1976.”

This firethorn car belonged to Russell Ferlita of Tampa, FL. He stored it at his mother’s house under an
open carport. The elements got to it, and the carport fell onto it, and it became a basket case. He
parted it out on eBay in February of 2008. He had bought it originally for the engine, intending to build a
mid‐engined car, but that project never got off the ground. The car sat and sat and sat. According to his
eBay post, “This is the Body from 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega that I have owned since 1977. I am the
second owner and traded a 1976 El Camino to a service man who needed the El Camino to move to
Denver. It only had 6,000 miles on it when we traded. We drove the car until it stopped running with
54,790 miles on it, approximately 1980. When it stopped running there was nothing wrong except a
second fuel pump that quit working. Believe it or not, no one could find the cause. Not even the
Cosworth experts at GM. Well it sat for all of these years under a shed that leaked. As a result the body
deteriorated. So now I am parting it out. I have the whole car for sale in parts. If you need something for
a Cosworth I probably have it. For questions about these items call me. Russell at 813‐932‐7054. As you
can see in the photos, the car has deteriorated badly at the hood and trunk. There are some other areas
where rust is present and a couple of areas that have rust holes. The body will be good to make into a
racer.” This was his second Cosworth. His original was a “beige” car that he bought brand new, drove
home, put up on jackstands, and waited for it to appreciate in value. In 1979 or 1980 Bill Hutton
referred a buyer from Baton Rouge, LA to him. Offered $7500, he took it. Drove the car to the airport,
met the buyer, accepted the 75 $100 bills, and said goodbye to the car.

Ronnie put it up for sale on eBay in February of 2008 with the following description: This auction is for a
1976 Cosworth Vega. This is number 3192. I bought the car back about in the fall with intentions of
restoring it. I have a lot of projects going right now and thought I would put it up and see if anyone was
interested if not I will restore it shortly. Car is in the dry. This car is factory firethorn red with white
interior. The owner before me got rid of a lot of the interior as it need work (wish he had kept it. This car
is a factory 5 speed car with, factory sunroof, and factory swing out windows. The car is full of parts.
Engine is disassembled but there. I have not had a chance to sit down and go through everything that is
here for the car. It is disassembled. Car will need tires also. It has a factory set of 76 Cosworth wheels to
go with it but they will need tires. I have steel wheels on it for rollers. The body is decent shape for its
age. It has been repainted at some point. Does have some rust as usual and have seen a little body filler
but I have not dug into it to see what is there. For me this would be a easy restoration. Please look at the
pictures and see if it is something you are interested in. I have 5 Cosworth Vegas so I mess with them
quite a bit. This car is sold AS IS. It does have a clear Georgia title. Car has only been parked for a few
years. If you would like to talk to me about any of the cars that I have listed you can call me at 1‐888‐
887‐7980 or 423‐253‐7980 and ask for Ron. I have the car for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the
auction early if the car sells. A lot more pictures are available upon request. Please send e‐mail address
if interested.

On Chat in July of 2007 Ronnie, of Tellico Plains TN, wrote that “A guy that is pretty local called looking
for parts and said that he had one. Was looking for parts like windshield, etc. He was going to V8 the car
but has medical bills to pay and offered it to me reasonable so if it is any count I am going to go ahead
and get it. Red, sunroof, 5 speed, swingouts, disassembled engine. $800.” He wrote a few days later
that he bought it and that the VIN number for #3192 is 1V7706U21951. “The car’s worst part is it is
disassembled. I don't believe it will be too hard to fix (have fixed a lot rougher cars). I need to get it
unloaded and see what all I got. I am excited about having it and anxious to get started on it.”

A white 4‐speed 76 Cosworth, AM radio, swingouts, white vinyl interior, bought new by Jim Cassels at
Bell Chevrolet in Cairo, Georgia on 4.18/78 for $4161.75. It was later totaled—met a log truck in about
1980 at about 30,000 miles. He kept the dash bezel. He also salvaged the motor and put it into a 75—
(#0294, for which the VIN was 1V77E5U209127). The VIN for 3208 was 1V77O6U219603.

According to a November 2011 membership application, this car belongs to Michael Meo of Cresson, PA.
Offered for sale in 2011: This is a 1976 Cosworth Vega #3209 in production order. It has the rare two
tone interior{white panels, black carpet}, Borg/Warner T‐50 5‐speed trans, and a power brake booster,
which I'm not sure whether or not it's supposed to be there. It will run with starting fluid in the air
cleaner, but the fuel pump kicks off after one second. There is also a click up by the fire wall which may
or may not be a fuel pump relay issue. However the actual fuel pump is brand new. The gas tank is out
for this reason. It has small surface rust spots around the windshield and rear hatch glass. Part of the
rear glass molding is off, but I have it. There is an electric fan in place of the original, but again, I have
the original. This was someone's drag project that they got about 10% into and then bailed. The
underside fortunately is real solid. The taillights will need to be rewired{because of more unnecessary
hacking}. The pulse air pipes are missing but probably can be gotten through the Cosworth club. The
battery tray has the obligatory rust but can be sandblasted and reused. I believe the metallic green to be
the original color, but appears to be a respray w/o clearcoat. I don't have the keys for the wheel
locks{again hopefully available through the Cosworth club}.The mileage is questionable since it looks like
the dash was apart at one time. However, the Cosworth club might have some info on where or when
this unit was serviced and what the mileage might have been at the time. All glass is good with the
optional rear vent windows{one has a CVOA sticker}. I'm setting the reserve accordingly since this is a
non running/drivable project. Please bid only if you intend to buy. Obviously will need to be towed or
trailered. PayPal is acceptable. Good luck and happy bidding. Supposedly it has 103,000 miles, and is in
Oswego, IL.
