Hello, I found another CV today that has been in storage for about 20 years. It is CV 3429, White, white interior with red dash and carpet. The car has 9400 miles on it! It is pretty good condition, been up on blocks, with the original BR 70s on it! Car is all orignial. It also has a 5 speed and a sunroof! Appears to be a heavily optioned 76. It is sitting in a warehouse in Detroit that used to be a manufacturing plant. I was able to speak with a couple of the caretakers of the building. Currently, the car is not for sale, but the owner is working on getting the 6 or so cars in storage there out, to either give to grandkids or sell off. Does anyone have a record of this car? The window sticker is still on the drivers quarter window! It would take a little while to clean it up, but there appears to be no rust or other issues, the caretakers said it ran about 5 years or so ago. The lighting wasn't great, so I didn't get a chance to thoroughly look it over, but left name and information with them to pass on to the owner if she plans on selling it. I'll keep everyone posted! (Let me know if it is in the CVOA registry though) Thanks John J. Cowall Yahoo post 27540

1) so the car was last known to be in Hawaii? Yes, I left it in Hawaii. I hated to sell it, but by then I had a family with three new children in diapers so I bought a SUV to haul the family.
2) do you remember the VIN, or have any documents with the VIN? It helps because we log that info in the Registry: I’m not sure…I’ll have to see if I can dig up some old paperwork. I may have something, but it would be buried in my files. I’ll see if I can find it.
3) what year did you sell it? Do you remember the name of who you sold it to?: I sold it when I left so that would be October or November of 1988. I don’t remember his name. He answered an ad I placed…not even sure where I placed it.
4) were you ever a member of the CVOA? No. Was CVOA even around in 1977? I don’t recall ever hearing of it. The photos I sent were from October 1977. I’m the OG Cosworth Vega Owner. LOL/

Here’s a bit of history on 3433. I was looking for a car at a Chevy dealer in SLC, UT and saw that they had a Firethorn (red) Cosworth on the showroom. They wanted around $6,600 for it and back in 76 you could almost buy a Corvette for that price so I had to pass on it. A short time later I saw an ad in Road&Track magazine for 3433 and called the owner. The car was originally purchased in South Florida (maybe Miami), but the owner was now living in Oregon. The owner agreed to trade 3433 for a new Chevy 4X4 truck I owned so we drove from SLC to Oregon and made the deal with the first owner.
I remember that the car was still under warranty because I took it in to have them document a casting flaw in the block in case it ever caused a problem (it never did) (year 1977). I drove the car back and forth to Florida several times and that little engine just loved to rev. However, it was really slow compared to many cars of the day. I tried to speed it up by lightning the car. I removed several items and got the weight below 2,500 pounds. The car had a 5-speed, flip-out rear windows, and it might have been sold without a radio since the first owner had cut the dash to install a Blaupunkt (Porsche) radio. I had the car Zebart undercoated, but the bottom of the passenger eventually rusted through anyway. Also, after a few years a patch of paint on the top of the front fender began to fade. I believe the dealer or transporter damaged the paint and they touched it up before the dealer sold the car.
Eventually, I joined the Army and drove it to flight school at Ft. Rucker, AL then had the car shipped to Schofield Barracks, HI where I sold it to a local guy before I PCS’ed back to the States. I had kept all the parts that I ever removed or replaced and gave them to the new owner along with a complete set of Kent Moore tools for the Cosworth.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if you ever come across the owner.
Regards,
Ken

The dash plaque from this car appeared on eBay from a seller, Terry Mikolajczyk (ctmiko), in Toledo, OH
who has recently (spring, 2007) listed a lot of Cosworth parts. I conclude that he has parted out this car.

1976 Cosworth Vega #3441....54,101 miles, optional 5-speed, 1 of 108 manufactured in white paint from factory. Never been painted, never wrecked,
All glass is good, bumpers & rubber good.
Interior is original, driver quality (fair), headliner, door panels & sunvisors are very good. No rust in floor pans, frame, or trunk panel. Battery box area is very rusty. Hood on top is good, on bottom is very rusty. Trunk rusted at top of glass, as shown in picture. No rust in doors, fenders, quarters, very minor rust in right rear rocker.
I bought car from second owner, the car sat in barn from 1987, until 2018. Barn was ready to fall so car was pulled out for a while, then I bought it. I took spark plugs out, lubricated cylinders for about six weeks, turned engine over, using g proper procedures. Engine turned over but will not start. I have good Tennessee title in hand. Asking $5,400. PM me with any questions.
