Offered again in November of 2012: 1975 Cosworth Vega (no smog required for all you California
buyers). Cars needs a total restoration. I bought it this way, refinished the wheels (wrong color, but
better looking) and put new tires on it last week, so that it would roll easy. I have never heard it run, but
was told it ran but smoked. I have cranked it over, and it sounds OK, oil is good, but I have not put any
real time into this car. I'm clearing out my inventory of cars/projects due to health issues. I can deliver it
for $2 a mile within 500 miles (sorry, diesel is expensive). The engine looks complete except for smog/air
tubes, which are in the trunk, along with a bearing/ring/head gasket set. Looks like it would take about
20 minutes to remove the engine, no A/C or PS, that's how they came from the factory. Interior is black
cloth, needs to be redone, dash is cracked (I got the car from Las Vegas, but it's a Cali car). I do NOT have
any paperwork on this car, but will gladly provide a bill of sale. It was last titled in CA, but since dropped
off the system as it sat in Vegas for years. Ask questions, come take a look if your local. The hood has
some rust and could be saved, but the rest of the car is pretty straight with minimal rust (for a Vega).
undercarriage looks pretty good, one small hole in tire well, structurally sound chassis. I believe that a
clear title could be had on vehicle, but since I've never pursued it, I don't know for sure. VIN‐
1V77E5U210684, do your own research if you're concerned. Make sure to check my other auctions.
Bidders that look shady will have their bids canceled, so if you have less than 10 feedback, send me a
message so i know you're a serious bidder, Thanks....If you're local, please come look at the car, it's on
my trailer and ready to go, usually sits in my garage." Car is in Wildomar, CA, and the seller is
momoneydancents.

Offered on eBay in May of 2012: 1975 Cosworth Vega. I DO NOT HAVE A TITLE; car is from CA. Car will
run but it smokes, has the 4 speed trans, has a dent in the left front fender (not smashed just pushed in).
There is small rust hole in spare tire storage, battery box has rust. It is dirt on the hood and grille, not
rust. Car is all painted, no bare spots, no rust but in the spare tire compartment. Someone drilled a hole
and that a window wiper on the hatch hole is about 1/2 inch. Has the Cosworth Vega tire jack. I has
been stored beside my house for 3 years. The inside was covered with sheets and a cloth car cover on
the outside. As you can see, I cannot get pictures of the sides. It has the Cosworth stripes; it has all 5
Cosworth wheels, tires will hold air but are dry‐rotted from the nice 100+ heat in the Nevada desert.
Car is in Las Vegas Nevada. Will help with pick up or shipping, the cost will have to be paid by buyer.
Car dash # is 0324. It has cloth seats, car is all together nothing is apart; looks like it is in the pictures.
The air tubes is off the engine. I removed them to adjust the valves. The VIN is 1V77E5U210684. Now, if
the buy it now is used I will include a set of rings and main bearings, if I have any a set of rod bearings,
lower end gasket set, oil pump and water pump gaskets and a head gasket that is for the turbocharged
Vega it is just like the Cosworth head gasket, even the same reddish brown color. It is a GM OEM part,
but it has the large oil hole. I do not have any more cam cover gaskets. I also have a stock Vega engine
that was running, but pulled it to v8 a Vega wagon‐‐a lot more fun to drive. Will make a deal for it or if
you buy it now. Will load in the back of the car if it is wanted. No discount for NOT taking IT. I have
Cosworth heads. blocks and more hard engine parts; if you need something send me a list and I will try
to get them listed." Seller is Impalamech.

Acquired by Bruce and Lisa Cummings of Las Vegas, NV, according to an e‐mail to the author on
10/15/2004.
Here is a 75 Cosworth Vega. If you are looking, you know about the Cosworth Vega. This one is #0326
of somewhere around 3508 or so made for 75=76 model years. Has a dent in left front fender; cloth
seats need re‐done. Black with black cloth interior. I had this one for 5 years. It was saved from a
California pick‐a‐part yard and it ran when I picked it up, but it smoked. I drove it on the car hauler and
off at my house. I removed the cam cover to adjust the valves with shims, but other things came up and
I never got around to getting it up and running. I have not started it in 5 years. The wheels are nice; it
has the pop‐out rear glass, open differential, and a 4‐speed trans. The dash is not cut up; there is no
rust on underside. It has rust on the front edge of the hood and battery box. I have one more Cosworth
left, #2066, and I will be listing it soon. Time and life style changed. Selling off my Vegas and parts. IF
YOU USE THE BUY IT NOW YOU WILL ALSO GET one good left fender, 2 sets of front brake pads, 2 sets of
rear brake shoes, 1 good head, 1 cam carrier with cams, 1 cam cover, 1 good Cosworth block, 1set rings,
main bearings, 1 lower end gasket set, a new head gasket, and a new water pump. This is extra parts‐‐
the engine has all of the parts listed. THIS CAR HAS NO TITLE. I have in the past got the paper work to get
the title from broadwaytitle.com. Did it on an Airstream and 2 Harley Davidsons. Car is in Las Vegas;
Nevada will have to be picked up or shipped by 2/28/09. The mileage is listed as 50,000. Impalamech.

EBay, October, 2003: Up for auction is this rare 1975 Chevrolet Vega Cosworth. Car is in running
condition. Starts up quickly. This is a project car that will not empty your pocket book. Put a weekend
or two into this baby and you could have a daily driver. This car was rescued from a salvage yard so it
had a salvage title but it was not wrecked. The car was basically sent to the junkyard because someone
didn't know what it was and just wanted it off of their property. I have paid all registration fees but in
order to be "fully registered" in ca the car now has to pass a brake and light inspection. (I’m not sure
what's required in other states.) I was given an estimate of $550 to do all of the brake and light work at
a local shop. I'm sure that the same work could be done at home for around $250 (master cylinder,
replace headlight and a few other odds and ends). I don't want to spend any more on this vehicle so it is
up to the buyer to take care of the repairs and registration. Possibly needs new clutch or clutch
adjustment since it is difficult to get into 1st and 2nd gear. Has small oil leak up front. VIN
1V77E5U210684. Mileage is 70,063. The front seats are pretty well worn, especially the driver
side. The back seats look better except for the back edge of the backrest which can be seen in the 4th
picture. Dash has a few cracks in it. The back panel that covers the spare tire is a little bent. There's
some wiring hanging low below the dash but everything seems to work fine. Including the radio with
Bose speakers (original?!?). There is a small dent on the front driver side fender (last picture), a small
ding above the gas cap and a couple of small dings on the hood. There are a couple of very small rust
spots on the front edge of the hood. This is the only rust that I could find anywhere on the car. Joe 209
201‐7355. Black cloth interior. Aftermarket speakers in front doors. See pictures in photo registry.

Hey Ken,
Is this an old CV of yours? Wow, thats painful to look at! What's the story on the car?
Thanks,
John J. Cowall
CVOA President

----
Hi John,

Yes, that was my first CV. I first saw that CV in the dealership (T.A. Byrne Chevrolet in Mt. Kisco, NY) in late 1974 (I was home from my first semester of college) when I went with my Mom to pick up her brand new 1974 Vega Hatchback (bright yellow!!) The Cosworth really caught my eye, but I was not in any position to even think of owning one - I had just gotten my full license that year and wouldn’t get my first car (’66 Bel Air) for another year.

Anyway, after I graduated from college in 1977, I got a job selling Kirby vacuum cleaners door-to-door and I ran into Tim Byrne who owned the Chevrolet Dealership where my Dad and Mom always bought their cars and he suggested I go meet with someone on his staff to see if they’d be interested in the vacuum cleaner. I did that and was able to sell the dealership 2 units! But more exciting was the Cosworth Vega #0329 was in the exact same spot I had seen it 3 years earlier! My Mom agreed to cosign a loan so I could buy the car and it became my first “new” car. It had a little over 200 miles on it as it was used by the dealer a few times.

I loved that car! I applied for the vanity plates with “TWIN CAM," I did the HME Weber conversion, free flow exhaust, and some cosmetic mods, and had a blast auto crossing with the Westchester Sports Car Club quite regularly. I drove that car everywhere! I joined the CVOA (the region was headed by Suzanne Infante) and helped organize a couple of events in NY. I also helped organize our caravan to the first Roundup in Clarksville in 1980.

In 1984 #0329 was the car I used to go on the first date with the girl who became my wife. We kept the car with us in NYC until we moved up to Mt. Kisco in Westchester County in 1986. I think it was in the spring of 1987 when a storm blew a tree down on top of the CV and it had to be totaled. I salvaged the engine but had no way to save anything else. I sold the engine to Mark Nizer last year!

Sorry for rambling, but when you asked about the story of the car, it just got me remembering! Thanks for asking!

Ken

According to a January 2008 email from Ken Creary, who initially wrote to the WebCrew asking if his
Cosworth parts could be advertised on the website: “The engine is from my 1975 Cosworth Vega #0329,
VIN 1V77E5U210835. The car was destroyed in a storm in 1987 or 1988 and it would have cost way
more than the car was worth to try to salvage it at the time. I kept the engine and the fuel injection
electronics. I believe I even have the ECU, but I need to get to the parts box to see what is in there. (I
had the Hutton Weber DCOE conversion on it at the time.) I was also a member of the CVOA for years
and attended one of the early Roundups in Clarksville, TN (home of Hutton Motor Engineering.) To be
honest, once I started looking into how to dispose of the engine (and other cars and parts,) I'm seriously
considering keeping the CV engine and looking for a Cosworth Vega to purchase! He was an early
member of the CVOA and attended the first Roundup in Clarksville, TN.
