This car was later owned by Paul Houser of Bath, Ohio. He saw it at a body shop in the early 80’s and
bought it from them. It had had an engine compartment fire. It had Webers. It was sold to Mark Rock
in about 2005 and he parted it out.

According to a post in Feb. 2005: Finally was able to purchase a CV, #0969. The only problem I notice is
it idles high around 3000 rpm cold this seem very high to me. I have not let it warm up to see what it
drops to let because I hate to let it run for long at 3000 rpm. Is this normal? If not where should I start to
troubleshoot? One last thing where can purchase manuals for the car at? Thanks Dave (davev8vega)

#0970 was sold by Roger Davidson to the Classic Car Gallery in Southport, CT (https://classiccargallery.com) presumably sometime in 2013. It was then sold or traded to Napoli Indoor Auto Outlet in Milford, CT (http://napoliclassics.com) on November 2, 2013.

Ken Creary bought #0970 from Napoli Classics for $17,000 on January 30, 2014. The car had 7,641 original miles and was appraised as "Excellent" by the Auto Appraisal Group.

The car has required little work beyond typical maintenance, but the high pressure fuel pump died in 2016 and a new in-tank pump was installed. Also #0970 did have some previous body work done on the passenger door that needed to be redone in 2017. Tie rod ends and sway bar links were replaced in 2018. That's it so far (though it is time for some new tires!)

#0970 has been racking up many awards in local shows, but has also national and regional recognition. It has received the Gold Award and the Senior Oval from the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America (VCCA) and it has won National First Prize Junior with the Antique Automobile Association of America (AACA.) This fall it will compete for the AACA Senior award!

Offered for sale in November of 2013 with the following: Summary: This 1975 Cosworth Vega is a true
survivor driven only 7632 since new. Produced only in 1975 and 1976 a total of 3508 were built. In 1975
only 2061 were built. Of these only 16% were built with white interiors. This Cosworth is the 970th car
built in 1975. Electronic fuel injection, stainless steel headers, production cast aluminum wheels, 16
valves in hemispherical combustion chambers, dual overhead belt driven camshafts, and pistons sliding
directly on die cast aluminum cylinder bores were all pioneered by the Cosworth Vega. In august of 1973
car and driver magazine wrote: Cosworth Vega 16 valve. More than an engine. A taut muscled GT coupe
to devastate the smugness of BMW 2002tii's and 5‐speed Alfa GTV's. A limited run of 4000 machines,
each one built away from the tumult of the assembly line to precision tolerances, as a show of technical
force by Chevrolet. All of them will be collector's items. A true piece of automotive history that has
influenced the production of millions of cars that followed it. Don't miss out on this rare car. There really
aren't very many in existence today, especially with 7632 miles and a white interior.

Mark: Yes I own #970. I bought it in August of 75. I traded a 73 454 orange Corvette for it. I wanted it
since I read my first article on Cosworth in 73. I inquired at my local Chevy dealer, George Lamb Chevy,
from that point I visited the dealer about once a month until they told me a delivery date. On the day of
delivery I waited there until the truck pulled in the lot. There was no big rush of people to buy it so I
bought literally right off of the truck. I have every piece of paper that came with this car: build sheet,
window sticker, “unleaded fuel only”, and every other possible piece of paper that this car generated. I
have a lot of articles from car magazines, Chevy promo advertisements, even the mechanics manual. I
got it all. I am a CVOA member, I think my dues are due, I haven’t checked the date on the magazine. I
have no pictures of the car, but I don’t need any, if you have any promo pictures it looks just like that,
nothing is changed, and it even has the original tires. The only thing different is the rims have faded. I
know this because the spare rim is so much brighter. What I really want to do is sell my car. I would
really like to sell it to someone in the CVOA basically because I think it would be appreciated more by a
member. I’m selling for one reason, we need the money. Our son is in college now and it’s not free. By
the way he goes to Baldwin Wallace. I’m in your neck of the woods several times a year. If possible I
would like to stop by and say hello. So there you have it, the story of # 970. My plan is to advertise it in
the CVOA magazine and see what that will do for me. If you have any advice, please feel free to fill me
in. Thank you. Jerry L. Scale jlscale@aol.com

Offered for sale in October of 2004: Hello My name is Jerry L. Scale, I own Cosworth #970. I've owned
this car since new. I have all the paperwork that goes with it. It is completely original. It even has the
original windshield washer fluid. It has 8,000 (eight thousand, not eighty thousand). The car is in pristine
condition. It was last driven last spring, April 2004. It has black interior with white vinyl seats. I'm selling
this car because my son is going to college; we need the money, so my asking price of $11,800 is very
negotiable. I’m writing to you and other CVOA regional directors before pursuing other means of selling
hoping you may have a better lead or leads on selling my car. I live in Wooster, Ohio 50 miles south of
Cleveland. If you can give me any help at all it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Jerry L. Scale,

In June of 2010 your editor bought some parts from Doug Dezan in Florida. Turns out that he once
owned #0972. He said that he bought the car from someone in New Hampshire. He bought it on a bill
of sale only, and moved to Florida. The engine blew and he put a small block into it. He later sold it in
Florida, and has not seen or heard of it since. He sold me the head and cam carrier and cover, the
exhaust manifold, and a set of Webers with the Hutton aluminum air cleaner.

This car was sold locally and disappeared. It turned up at a Classic Cars dealer in the Greater Cleveland
area in an eBay auction in September of 2004: You are bidding on a 1975 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega with
41,427 original miles. VIN 1V77E5U233100. This Cosworth Vega is #0975 in production order and comes
with all of the original books and manuals from new as well as the original window sticker. To the best
of our knowledge, this Vega is completely original and has not been painted, tampered with, restored or
altered in any way. The paint appears to be all original and does have some stone chips, light scratches
and other minor flaws but looks very, very good overall. There is no evidence of any body rust or rot or
paint bubbles. The chrome is very good and not pitted or worn through. This car has not been restored
to be absolutely flawless, it is ORIGINAL. The interior is literally like new and there is absolutely no
wear. The seats, carpets and all interior trim pieces are in like‐new condition. All of the gauges are
working, including the original radio. This car is completely tight and solid. It starts, runs and drives
perfectly‐ it is tight over rough surfaces and does not creak, rattle or squeak. This car drives like a
41,000 mile car, maybe better. The car is powerful, shifts perfectly, stops well and handles great. This
Vega has just been to our mechanic and fully tuned up and the carbs were adjusted. This is truly a great
running car and it needs nothing. The fuel injection system has been removed and replaced with dual
Weber 6M 45DCE13 carburetors. The original fuel injection system is in our possession and is included
with the car if someone would like to reinstall it. Overall this Cosworth Vega is an incredibly well‐
preserved and original example. These cars are extremely rare and I would imagine this is one of the
better preserved examples you could hope to find.
Car was purchased by Alistair Parker of Christchurch, New Zealand. He had the car shipped to Long
Beach, CA, then put into a container and shipped down under. It took about two months to get the car.
He installed the 76 big brakes and a power booster, and is replacing the 4‐speed with a 5‐speed.

I looked at the car on 3/27/2003. It is a nice, solid car. Ziebarted and the engine compartment has been
repainted with black primer. The cowl area as well. The paint is beginning to show signs of age and
miles up close, but from a distance looks very good. Interior is excellent, especially carpet and floor
mats. Clutch is heavy, engine takes a while to warm up, exhaust sounds mellow and throaty, average
performance, adequate brakes, soft driver seat, steering wheel beginning to get sticky. Has 45 Webers
and they stumble till car is warm.

Bruce Weller, in searching for a Cosworth, put a Wanted ad in the Youngstown Vindicator in February of
2003. Stanley Shrodeck of Warren, Ohio responded. Stanley owns #0975, a black on black Cosworth.
He bought it in 1978 and has essentially had it in storage ever since. He has maintained it very well. He
starts and drives it every year. In the winter it is jacked up off the ground, and gas stabilizer is put in.
The crankcase is filled to the top and the car is stored in a heated area. The car has 44k on it and it had
only 18,000 in 78 when he bought it. He puts around 500 miles on it /year. He has done everything to
the car in the expectation that he was going to keep it forever. It has had a total engine rebuild. He
took to Hutton Motors in TN, where they did the top end: new cams, carrier, head, stainless steel valves,
sleeves, etc. Vanguard Automotive in Medina did the bottom end, new clutch, transmission rebuild, etc.
It has the Webber carbs on (he kept the EFI parts and they still look new). He has all the documentation,
records, and the original window sticker.

In March of 2009 Tom Calvert reported: Went to look at that Cosworth in Copley, OH. It was very rough.
The interior was out of it and the front end was off. It did start and run, but sounded like crap. The air
cleaner and emission controls had been removed, but he says he has all the parts to go with the car. The
windshield is broken. He has NOS striping for the car. The floor boards have been welded, and the body
patched. He won’t take less than $1600 for it, so I passed. I just emailed him and he said I could give you
his phone number. His name is Bob. 330‐ 289‐7727. He had asked me if I owned a Cosworth and I don’t
know why but I said no. I guess I’m just a private person. The car is a 75, dash no. 0976.
