Although from the look of the pictures, it is need of some serious hands‐on repairs, the "Gold Rush"
Cosworth drag car, #0998, still has the unique "Cosworth Rally" decals on both sides. Only two cars had
the 'Rally' striping, this one and #2659, which was my first Cosworth bought at salvage in '78. All that is
left on #0998 is the 'Rally' decals, the rest of the stripes are gone. Dick B.

1975 Cosworth Vega,49,000 miles see odometer, interior excellent, condition excellent, some rust spots.
Timing belt was taken off 2 years ago as it was dry rotting and I didn't want it to break and crash the
valves. It ran before it was taken off and sprayed cylinders with lube and put spark plugs back in for
storage! Call 1‐816‐258‐0030

According to Cowall’s 2000 newsletter, this car was owned by Les Stanford Chevrolet and campaigned in
’76 and maybe later as the GOLD RUSH drag racer. Rumor had it that it left the state and was parted
out. It was also one of two known Cosworths to have the wider stripe package—the other being Dick
Baumhauer’s first Cosworth.
I know the whereabouts of this car. John J. Cowall
All original. 49,000 actual miles. Body is solid no rust in floors and quarter panels and trunk. And floor

I will possibly be buying #0999. John J. Cowall. VIN 233968
He bought it. He is the second owner. Black, black cloth insert seats, AM, rear speaker, auxiliary
lighting, cloth headliner, floor mats, defogger, swingouts, tinted glass. Purchased from Jon Pohl of
Farmington Hills, MI. According to the Cowalls’ January 2000 newsletter, “#0999 – continuing the story
from #0005… since Mark David Pohl didn’t want this one when offered to him by the dealer, his brother
Jon bought it by trading in a 4 month old Trans‐Am (+ cash) to buy this car. Jon was a member of CVOA
for a while and acquired quite a few OEM parts over the years, probably because he had quite a few
engine problems which were repaired at the dealership. Jon advised us that he parked the car in 1995
in his driveway because of engine noises. It sat there ‘til my son and I towed it home (Cosworth towing
Cosworth!) last month. There is almost no paint on the roof or hatch, and the doors have small rust
holes, but it is a very solid chassis and the black CLOTH interior is beautiful. We hope to do an engine
swap and paint it in time for this year’s Round‐Up. Special thanks to Jon Pohl for the car, parts, and
especially the stories.”

CV #0999 -Black/ Black Vinyl. Bought car from John Pohl, dad worked for GM. (they owned #0005 as well) Paid $1200 (I think this was the price?) in summer of 2000? Car had a burnt/ cracked valve. We replaced the valve and car worked great. Plan was to restore car to original stock condition. Drove it part time as a driver/ garage queen. Car started to deteriorate rust wise. Sold car in Spring 2004 for about $1800 to a guy near Toledo, OH. (Cowall Owned 7-2000 to 4-2004)

Sold on eBay in March of 2004 for $1800. 1975 Cosworth Vega, Dash #0999. Has 89K on original engine.
All original, has not been tampered with. Black vinyl interior, with cloth headliner. All in good shape,
only slight tear in driver's seat. Runs strong could be driven anywhere. See pictures for only rust spots on
car. Car has been used on and off as a spare daily driver for the past 5 years. I am the second owner.
Great for a restoration or a daily driver. This car is an excellent example of a Cosworth Vega. This is NOT
a parts car. I had intentions of doing the restoration but job constraints have interfered. If you are
looking for a fun, classic, piece of history, this is it. Car is in used shape, no warranty, sold as is. Condition
is fair to good shape. Needs paint, cracking and hazing evident, as well as some surface rust. Exterior and
interior are sound, never been wrecked, chassis in good to great shape. Only panels that need rust hole
repair are the deck lid and passenger door (see pictures). Sold as is, no warranty. Local pick‐up
preferred. Will deliver within 200 miles, a dollar a mile after that. Car is located near Detroit, Michigan.
E‐mail with any questions. Payment only through PayPal. Initial payment of $400.00 due within two days
end of auction. Rest due at pick‐up of vehicle or before delivery. Reserve is set at $1500.00. Buy it now is

Lou Marr passed away in March 2006 ( see article in CVOA Magazine Issue #90). Some time before that, Lou and Harriet gave the car to John Cowall Sr. John asked if he could give it to John J and they agreed. They specifically asked that it be DRIVEN, and not stored away. The Cowalls have honored that request thought the years.

Lou & Harriett Marr, long time CVOA members bought it USED (Billy a year or two) from their local dealer in Ann Arbor, Mi. It was their only car and daily driver for over 10 years until it got rusty. Then he had it restored and Hutton rebuilt the engine with BD3 cams, 10.5 pistons, and Webers.

I purchased 1001 December 2019 from a used car dealership in Ohio of the internet with 40,000 miles. Had it transported to Port Angeles, Washington and picked up and drove it to B.C. Canada. Little rust under the floor board and spare tire area and brakes were in bad shape, drives well and body and paint in decent shape considering it is all 45 year original. It is my daily driver.

Offered again in October of 2013 out of Clarkston, MI: "This is an outstanding example of one
of Chevrolet's most incredible collaborations. If you're hunting for a Cosworth Vega, I'll spare
you the history as you likely already know it. If you're curious the Web is full of very useful
owners' groups and info (this sale includes a trove of material collected by the previous
owners). This 39K mile example has had three owners to this point (as far as I can tell): two in
Ohio and one in Michigan. As you can see from the shots of the underbody, this vehicle was
definitely spared exposure to midwest winters. The interior is in fantastic shape. The paint is in
very good shape (as in very presentable). The engine benefitted from the care of the previous
owner, who maintained this car (and his others) to a very high level. This Cosworth Vega starts,
shifts, drives, brakes in a very confident manner. It's fair to say that this is a very straight
example that needs nothing besides a good home in order to be enjoyed (I have other
machines to move into the garage as winter approaches). Please feel free to text me at
248.343.3332 or email me with any questions. Mileage is 39,505

As of April of 1999, had just been purchased by A. Baltzell of Adrian Michigan. He hoped to
restore it. It had only 35,000 miles in 2000. It is black/black vinyl with a cloth headliner. One
previous owner was Louis Hamman of Toledo, Ohio.baltzell@tc3net.com
1V77E5U234046 . Black/Black, 4‐speed, Mileage: 39,502 . This is a very nice Cosworth Vega,
one of 2061 made in 1975. The Cosworth Vega is not your Mother's Vega. One of the rarest cars
made by G.M. See it's complete history at the web site cosworthvega.com. This car shows well
at Car Shows and has won several Trophies. The paint while older shows a good polished shine.
The interior is like new condition. The dash is high polished engine turned, as it should be. I
believe this car to be one of the best in Michigan. This car draws more interest than any of my
other Collector cars. Most people have never seen one. Car is located in southern Michigan and
is garage kept does not go out in the snow. Bidders can call to inspect prior to bidding.
Questions, email or phone{517‐265‐4438} before bidding. Sold for $8500.
