The January 1998 Region 2 newsletter welcomes the owner of this car, Steven Sabat of Levittown, NY.
According to an email from bowtieollie@chevytalk.com, he was once the owner of this car. He reports it
was sold at auction in 1988 and he has lost track of it. “I was a member of CVOA. The decal was
prominently displayed on the driver side rear 1/4 glass. I used the car for daily transportation, but when
the summer rolled around (no A/C) I ended up using my pickup. I showed the CV at several shows and
she always placed. A few of the awards are still in my office.” According to postings at the Website,
Ollie’s title is “Senior Chevytalk Staff & Carlisle 2004 Show Coordinator”. He is a Senior Field Mgr for a
large automobile manufacturer, an ASE Master Service Technician with L1 Certification, and has an ASE
Master Body and Paint Technician certification. Oliver Giorgi

I have a 1975 Cosworth Vega, #1136, which I would like to sell. I am the original owner and it has 31,390
original miles on it. The car is in excellent condition with the exception that the engine is not running
right. It is down on power and I haven't figured out why yet. It is garage kept. Over the years I have
added power brakes, a Mr. Gasket shifter, a stereo, oil cooler, remote oil filter mount, and cloth seating
surfaces. The engine was replaced many years ago but I still have the original and I also have spare parts
for the fuel injection system. The car is located in Virginia Beach, VA. I am asking $4000 for it. Email me
at dvandeg@yahoo.com if interested. Posted Yahoo July 2003

This car appeared on eBay in September of 2006. It is described as: “This Cosworth Vega is in super nice
condition. It is a 1975 2‐door hatchback with only 36+++ miles on it. The number on the dash is 1142
and VIN is 1V77E5U242111. It has a 5‐speed manual transmission. This car was purchased from
a former Chevrolet Dealer after he passed away. The paint appears to be mostly original and is in very
good condition. The car is very clean underneath and the only rust is where the battery tray is located. It
has rusted a hole through the inner fender like most other metal cars and would need to be repaired.
This is a great car if someone has a rusty one. The engine was not in the car when we purchased it. It
would be much cheaper to switch the engine if you have a rusty Cosworth Vega or you could put a V‐8
or a V‐6 in this car. The inside is in nice original condition and is Black in Color. It has no floor board rust
and has all the original equipment and doesn't appear to have ever been wrecked. A paint job would be
higher than what we want for this vehicle. It has no rust in quarters like most Vegas. This car has no
engine. You won't find a better car for the price. It has a clear title. Please email or call with
questions. This is a beautiful car. It can be picked up local if you like. Thanks Bill´ It is located in
California, MO.

This car appeared again in March of 2007 from the same dealer. From the photos it has swingouts, a
non/stock stereo cassette radio, and all the gold is missing from the bezel. Under the hood the hood
pad is missing, the cam cover bolts are wrong, heater hose has been used for the coolant pipe, the lower
radiator hose is wrong, the black cap is missing from the MAP sensor, and the plug wires are missing the
caps for the holes in the cam cover. The carpet as the seam at the top of the back seat is threadbare.

This totally stock car is owned by retired machinist Gary Murphy of Kalamazoo, MI. It has just over 50k
and has never seen winter roads. The gasket on his oil filter let go on the Interstate, and by the time he
noticed the red light, the engine was trash (crank, pistons and cylinder walls). He is in the process of
rebuilding it in October of 2007.

According to Gerry Cross, Number 1144 was a 47 mile original. It sold for $10,000 in the spring of
2000. It also had been part of a Chevrolet dealer’s holding of unusual cars he had bought and held and
never sold. At that sale the buyers were asked why they bought it and replied that "It was a brand new
car for under $10,000 and we bought it" No understanding of the nature of the auto at all. I note that
this $28,000 car had no reserve on it so that it may set a benchmark for dealer original cars, or perhaps
it may just be the "outliner" that we stats type guys dread. Either way it is an interesting sale. Wonder if
Autoweek will pick it up and report it? Gerry

CV #1156- Black/ White Vinyl – Bought car from Dick Baumhauer’s nephew in Fall 1996. Car had been in a wreck, front end damage. Car had been picked over, pretty much a shell. We had to drag it out from its resting spot sitting under a tree in a field! Took the car immediately to Magnetek in Troy , MI and parted it out, cut it up. (Cowall Owned 9-96 to 9-96) ORIGINALLY WAS PRESUMED TO BE #0628 WHEN PARTED OUT. UPON RESEARCHING VIN, WE DISCOVERED THIS CAR WAS ACTUALLY #1156

Unknown date. I'm a former (twice) Region V Director of the CVOA. I was the one who found the method by which the
CVOA finally became incorporated. I owned four Cosworths with a friend of mine, Richard Schruefer,
when I lived in Clearwater, Florida. My first Cosworth was #0709, a typical 1975 black on black version.
One of the best running original stock Cosworths I have ever run across. This CV just seemed to have
everything working the way it should. I used just like to sit in the car and hear it idle. It sounded like a
lot more than four cylinders. I raced it on the street numerous times against some formidable
competition (read V8s). I could beat a stock pre‐19861/2 (before the roller cam 302) from 20 mph rolling
start. And, yes, my CV was stock. Gee, that was fun! The other Cosworths were a: 1975 black on black
#127 in excellent original condition, 1975 black on black #1157, and another excellent original 1976
white over red #3125. This last car was purchased dirt‐cheap because the owner couldn't get it to run
right. It had a burned valve on #4 cylinder, a bad in‐tank fuel pump and a bad map sensor.
Unfortunately, all of the cars have been long sold. John Mathe, jdmtfm@aol.com
