The item in this auction (dash number plate only) is a near perfect Gold dash plaque for a Cosworth
Vega. It would be for a 75 or 76 Vega # 1360. I am selling this item for the estate of my tenant. His wife
needs to sell off all of the items in his shop to pay medical bills. Appeared on eBay in April of 2009

Offered for sale again in September of 2010: 1V77E5U253499, with 6,900 miles. The listing reads:
Original factory 16 valve, dual overhead cam with fuel injection from 1975. Only 2062 built in 1975‐‐
very, very rare! These cars were over $6200 in 1975 about the same price as a new 1975 Corvette. The
Cosworth Vega will be the featured car at the 2011 GM Nationals in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. New tires,
everything works, including the clock, drive it anywhere!!!! I put a thousand miles on this car this year,
it is really fun to drive. Most people have never seen one of these since there were only about 2000
built in 1975. The engines were hand built in Tonawanda NY at a cost to GM of $10,000 each. I had this
car judged at Stowe, Vermont this year and it scored a 92 out of 100 points. It just needs to be detailed
under the hood and have the OEM fuel line clamps put back on according to the judges. A car can be
only original once, and you would be hard pressed to find a better one of these that is still original. The
only reason I am selling is my wife wants her garage space for the winter and I need to keep my 28 foot
limousine for my business.

In April of 2010 this car again appeared on eBay out of Barre, VT, with 6154 miles. The VIN is identical.
It has cloth seats, and the dash is a bit faded. According to the text of the ad, “This is an amazing
original survivor and everything is original, except for the restored wheels and new tires. 6,164 Original
Documented Miles since it left the factory in 1975 at a cost then of more than $6000! Mechanically
excellent as you would expect for a nearly new car, even though it is now 35 years old. Comes with all
the documentation, window stickers, old title, so it can be registered in any state. I wouldn't sell this car
except for the fact that I need to buy a limousine to start up a business here and I need to purchase a
nice limo. The best way to discuss the car is to call me at (802)310‐6868. This car has been invited to
the 2010 New England Concours D' Elegance in July in the preservation class. Few examples with this
low mileage exist that run extremely well. Only 2061 of these were built in 1975 and this car is number
1364. This car is a blast to drive and draws a crowd wherever it goes. The motor looks much like my
Honda's DOHC engine. These cars were way ahead of their time. In 2011 the Cosworth Vega will be a
featured car at the Chevrolet Nationals in PA.”
My CV #1364 only has 6,000 miles and has the engine builder sticker but it does not look like it ever was
signed. Does this mean it has worn off? Steve Restelli

This car came up for sale in July of 2008. It is located in Barre, VT. According to the description: Here
we have one sweet original Cosworth. Not perfect, but nice. An 8 out of a 10. Car has been stored in a
barn for much of its life. Right front fender has been scratched and re‐painted. Great job. Tires have
been changed. The originals have a little dry rot. New exhaust. Overall, a nice car. With a good
recondition it will show real nice. Great on gas. Where else are you going to buy a car with 6,000 miles
for cheap money? There is a lot to say about this car. The front valence is broken. The car is for sale
locally, so don’t be afraid to bid. Ask questions. Remember, this is a 34 year old car. Some notes:
There were only about 3500 cars made in two years. Cost over $6,000 when new, second only to a
Vette. Engine is a twin‐cam 16 valve limited production option for the Vega. Fitted with the first four
valves per cylinder head. Also has electric fuel injection and electronic Bosch computer system and
externally mounted oil pump. Looking for restorable Tri‐5 hotrod. The VIN is 1V77E5U253499.
Purchased by Steve Restelli of Barre, VT.

August, 2002. I am looking for an engine block and crank for #1374, a 1975 Cosworth Vega. It seems I
have all other parts needed to rebuild the motor. Any leads on these parts would be very helpful.
Please e‐mail with any help. Thanks. Brian Rhea, rheaman33@yahoo.com

From: "martin greenhalgh" <martyndonna@hotmail.com>. Subject: 75 Cosworth #1374 I have the
complete car except the engine block. I have the crank, rods and pistons to the lower half, would like to
part out.
#1374 in central California, no paperwork, no block, I am moving, first with $300.00 can have it but you
must come and pick it up it has brand new rubber all the way around the crank may or not be with it‐‐
Dave in Ohio wants it if not it will be with the car it has the Cosworth pistons. Someone come and get it,
I don’t want to junk it. I just want to get rid of the car hopefully to someone who can appreciate the CV.
I just don’t have the time to give it the attention that it needs. Thank you. Marty 559 786‐2013 cell

The engine and other parts of this car appeared on eBay in early 2009. The parts were obtained in a
salvage yard more than 20 years ago. The salvage yard is no longer in existence. It is reasonable to
conclude that this car is RIP.
