According to Rob Ritchey, this Cosworth was owned by a friend in San Rafael, CA in the early 80’s, but he sold it because it was a black car without air conditioning and he couldn’t stand the heat any more. Ed.

This car, sans engine, appeared on eBay in May of 2012: 1975 Cosworth Vega #1938. I purchased this car to use as a parts donor for my Vega however after much debate and hard facts , I cannot bring myself to cut up a near rust free car nor do I have the money or time to finish any automobile projects. SO back up for sale it goes! 1975 Cosworth number 1938. Bought near Chicago, however have birth document that shows California car. Body is nearly rust free ,clear coat is flaking . has some door dings and scraps and surface rust but otherwise in great shape. DOES NOT HAVE motor ,radiator , gas tank, pump, computer and some dash parts are missing ,windshield is cracked. DOES HAVE body ,4 speed transmission ,most interior and all 5 cosworth wheel ( need refinished ). 1 area of concern is near the steering box it appears to have had some minor collision work done however all body parts seem to fit as they should and doors close soundly. Car pictured is what you get + rims , any pictures or information needed feel free to ask. I purchased it as is and selling as is i am unable to restore or use it for parts and am trying to recoup some loss on my purchase. I have no other information on this car to pass along. AGAIN feel free to ask any questions or ask for any pictures before bidding, car is located in west Illinois (Moline) just minutes off I-80 . I will not ship however I can help load it. I would like a 200.00 nonrefundable deposit and the rest upon pick up of the vehicle (can store where it sits in picture for 30 days after auction end free of charge) also I will not take less than the auction price on the day you pick it up." Also, he says it is a posi and it has a title. The seller is Cosworth 0225.

Hello John and thanks for helping me out. The vin is 1V77E5U271252. This is my 2nd Vega build and it's going to be a mild stop light to stop light/pro touring car. It's getting a high revving destroked 327. The first one I built was tubbed and not street cruising friendly. This Cosworth came with the payment when I sold my firstone a few years ago. It's nice to meet you and I appreciate your knowledge. Sent by Justin Smith from Iowa through Facebook Messenger 5/20/15 to John J. Cowall.

According to a June, 2013 membership app, this car belongs to Charles Berry of North Potomac, MD. The VIN is 1V77E5U271333.
Chuck is the original owner. He bought it in 1976. It was Ziebarted. 25 years ago he put it in a garage. Installed Webers in 1979. He is now (2014) from the National Geographic Society, and is starting to restore it. Cam cover off, fresh oil, new battery. It is rust free, except for a spot on the driver’s door, and it needs new paint. The spare tire well is excellent. He is in the Gaithersburg MD area. 98k miles. Front seat torn. Otherwise interior exceptional.

I'm working on #138 now. It had timing belt trouble when I got the car, Pistons were hit, it last ran on fuel injection my other cars all had Weber's. I got it running on the fuel injection, idles a little high. I had a oil leak in the front , need a sleeve and seal on the crank that should fix it. Another problem is it needs a heater core any ideas on where I can get one or a substitute thanks.

#815 bought as a rust bucket for parts
