In January of 2011 this car appeared in the Friday, January 26 Kissimmee FL Mecum auction as Lot F203
and sold for $13k. According to the listing: Searching for a performance edge in the new compact
market that developed in the mid 70s, Chevrolet turned to Formula One engine experts Cosworth
Engineering of England, who designed the fuel injected twin cam four cylinder engine powering this rare
1975 Cosworth Vega. One of only 2,061 built in 1975, this is serial number 0392 of that exclusive series,
immediately identified by its Black paint, Gold pinstriping and unique Gold wheels. With just 237 miles
on the clock, it is in exceptionally original condition." It's a base car, with no radio, no floor mats, and no
swingouts according to the pictures.

Offered for sale again in March of 2012: This 1975 Cosworth Vega took Chevy’s idea (more horsepower)
to its logical conclusion with a full Pro‐Street treatment that includes enough tire to alter the earth’s
rotation. Beautifully finished inside and out, it delivers big thrills in a compact package, and nobody in
their right mind would tangle with this beast on the street. Yes, you read that correctly, this is a real
Cosworth Vega (#399) that forsakes its black and gold paint scheme for a slightly different take. The
black is still there, and it’s brilliantly executed with laser‐straight panels and a deep gloss, but where the
disco‐era Cosworth was trimmed in gold, this one uses crisp white for a fantastic contrast that looks
downright sinister. With a wide hood stripe and a painted tail section, you’re not going to mistake it for
anything else, and the detailing is excellent—note the pinstripes that outline the white areas, the
beautifully trimmed hood opening, and the sinister blacked‐out trim—the only shiny stuff left is the
windshield surround. The essence of Pro‐Street is all about the street portion, and this car delivers with
a very stock (and very comfortable) interior. Black buckets, original door panels, and OEM instruments
make it easy to forget how much power’s under your right foot until you glance out the windshield and
see that giant scoop inhaling air like a fighter jet. All the gauges are operational, augmented by a set of
white‐faced auxiliary gauges neatly set into the dash above the Cosworth badge and a tach with shift
light down low by the B&M shifter. And while most cars with this kind of performance sacrifice comfort
and convenience items, you’ll be pleased to learn that everything works, including the wipers, heater,
defroster, and all the lights. Even the original AM/FM radio remains in the dash, just in case you’re
inclined to lay off the throttle for a while. That scoop isn’t just for show, since it’s sitting atop a 350 cubic
inch V8 that’s rated at more than 450 horsepower and built with all the good stuff. With a 4‐bolt block,
ARP fasteners, and factory crank and rods, the bottom end is virtually indestructible. Intake duties are
handled by an Edelbrock tunnel ram topped by a pair of reworked 450 CFM Holleys, while the heads are
reworked fuelie castings. Hooker headers feed a custom dual exhaust system that sounds downright
predatory, especially at idle when the huge Comp Cams bumpstick does its thing. A built TH350 3‐speed
automatic uses a 3500 RPM stall converter for eyeball‐flattening launches. A narrowed Ford 9‐inch with
4.11 gears on a limited slip hangs on a 4‐link with custom frame members. Massive 30x18.5 Mickey
Thompson meats put down the power, while the front end is held up by a set of 165R15 skinnies on
Weld alloys. There’s just too much cool stuff to cover here, so if you want all the details on this amazing
Vega, all you have to do is call. The VIN is 1V77E5U213552. The mileage is 69,971. The car is in either
Charlotte or Atlanta at Streetside Classics.

According to a late September 2006 chat conversation with Cosworth616 (Ronnie Michaels), this car is
located in Cleveland, TN. Has a spoiler, and an air dam that is not mounted. Supposedly has a factory
sunroof. Cloth interior. Original motor “dropped some valves” and it had a V8 in it at one time. 4Speed
from the car was sold, and the owner planned to put a 5‐speed in it. A few spots of surface rust and the
wheels need to be refinished. It now has power steering.

Appeared for sale on eBay in October of 2006 out of Dayton, OH. The ad read: “This is a nice Cosworth
Vega with just under 56,000 miles. The motor is original and runs good. Some rust on the front of the
hood and under the battery tray also a small hole in the frame behind the idler arm mount not bad at
all. This is a solid car for a 75. I am selling this car needing restored. The steering is a little loose needs a
center link you can still get new for $65.00. One tire on the rear left needs replaced it sat flat for over 10
years I guess it has broken belts shakes a little around 30. I know the shake is the tire it has a bulge in
the tread. The car should be smooth with a new tire. The car seams to drive ok. I have driven it around
town. It is a 4 speed. The brakes work but feel like they could use bled. The car has a fuel injected 2.0
dual overhead cam motor 16 valve aluminum head and block designed by Cosworth racing in Europe
also the first Chevy to have a factory stainless steel header and the first car in the USA to have factory
fuel injection and twin cams. The interior is very nice a small tear in the driver seat. Has a few parking lot
dings but is a nice straight car to start with. Drive this car like it is or restore it. The speedometer
stopped working. The horn doesn’t work. Needs a hood release cable. The options are floor mats, rear
window defrost, pop out rear windows, am/fm radio I was told needs a fuse. Due to the age of the car I
am selling with no warranty needing restored. You are bidding to buy, not to come look at it and decide
if you want it or not. I recommend you come see the car before you bid. Email me through eBay I will
send you my phone number. This is not a rust bucket nice for a 1975. A deposit of $100.00 must be
made by PayPal within 24 hours it is not refundable for any reason. Cash only at pickup. Car must be
picked up and paid in full within 7 days of auction end. I would tow or trailer this car I have not had it on
the highway runs just fine around town but you can do as you want. Like I said you should look at the car
before you bid.”

Posted in August of 2006: Well, I got 409 running again today and I attached a pic of me just before I
installed the motor. I just joined the group a couple of months ago and I wanted you all to know what I
look like. I appreciate the help when I had questions and Mark for the gear that I needed. I had pulled
the engine to repair the leaks in the oil pan and water pump and I found lots of other things that needed
attention. I replaced the clutch and the radiator along with fuel injectors and brakes, etc. I also found a
working tach on eBay (someone in the group let me know, thanks) and installed it. Now that’s cool after
having no tach for so long. If any of you guys (or gals) are in east Tennessee, let me know and we will
meet somewhere and swap CV stories. Jonathan Denton

April 5, 2003: I got #0409 running correctly today and drove it for about an hour. I had forgotten what a
fun car a Cosworth is. This car had sat for 14 years before I got it, and I have been working on it for the
past year in the basement. I had to pretty much replace the fuel system and I pulled the head and
checked everything. It had been rebuilt and ran only 2000 miles when it was mothballed. The sleeves
were ok and I put it back together with a new water pump and all belts and hoses, and radiator, etc. I
had the timing too low at first but now I think it is about right. What a blast this car is to drive! I had
forgotten how well these cars handle. I need to go now, so "That’s all folks", for now. Jonathan Denton,
Cosworth #0409
I was at 8 degrees advanced by ear and with the light I went to 12 degrees. 12 is much better on the low
end. I can now start at stop signs and red lights and not have to floor it to get going. Jon cv2037
I took ole #409 to the mountains for a weekend in my hometown of Robbinsville N.C. this weekend. I
drove across highway 129 from Maryville TN. to Robbinsville on Friday and spent the weekend showing
the Vega to my friends and family. The road is very curvy and is famous to most bikers as one of the best
winding roads anywhere (It's called the Dragon). I had a ball throwing the Vega around the turns and
staying in second and third gears for 11 miles (the really good part). All was cool till the muffler decided
to come apart half way back home. All the baffles came loose inside (no holes in the jacket). My 10 year
old daughter said it sounded like a kazoo only louder. I was praying that the exhaust did not stop up and
kill the motor 20 miles from home. We made it home fine and I got the muffler off tonight. I started it
and pulled it outside to wash the mud off and, all I can say is these cars are really loud. Mine has no
catalyst so it was just straight pipe. I feel for Mark who had to drive his with open exhaust from the
Roundup. I hope you had earplugs!!!! Well it was the first real outing in my car other than around town.
I lost the chrome on the driver’s side rear window (I saved it) and used about a half quart of oil in about
500 miles and the muffler tore up. That’s not too bad for the amount of fun I had with the car. More
news soon. Jon Denton CV #0409 HYPERLINK "mailto:dentonjc@chartern.net"dentonjc@chartern.net
Well guys, Cosworth #409 is for sale. I have enjoyed it for the whole time I have owned it. But alas, I
have too many projects and not enough time or money to finish all of them. So I will be selling the
Cosworth. It is located in east Tennessee near Knoxville. It is a black 75 and still is fuel injected. The
odometer says 64,260 and it runs well. Asking $3800.00. I have lots of shop manuals and some of the
history of this car. For more info write to me at jcdenton2002@.... This car is in the registry, but the
pictures are not that good. Thanks. Jon Denton

I am Jonathan Denton. I own Cosworth #409 and live in Maryville TN. I talked to Mr. Cooper tonight and he seems to be a nice person. I think the car he has is a great deal and I wish I could buy it for myself. But alas, my wife says that I can't have any more cars till I sell something. From talking to him I think that this car is worth the money and more. I covet the dash bezel on this one as mine is not too good. Is the dash bezel available anywhere? I will be joining the CVOA soon so I you will hear, or should I say see more from me. Jonathan jcdenton2002@yahoo.com. I got #0409 out and actually drove it for the first time this week. Having some low rpm stumble but I think I can clear that up. Jonathan

The care itself has about 62,000. The car runs good. It does need to be gone through by someone loves
cars just to tighten it up to the way they would want it. I’m a motorcycle guy and do not have a whole
lot of knowledge or love for cars. As I said, it does run good. I drove it for 6 months straight while I was
saving up money to have my truck worked on. It did get dented in the left rear 1/4 panel but as you can
see it has been repaired. The entire car needs to be repainted to an owner’s specs or touched up in a

kids is more important than toys right now. I am asking a reserve price of $3500.00. The engine was
