Telephone inquiry from website: Randy Stager who is a retired Chevrolet Dealership Owner stated he had car as in 1975 ALL dealerships were required to buy 1 Cosworth Vega. They didn't want it but had not choice. It has never been titled and was stored ever since and has 89 miles. Wants to sell it and may join CVOA.

According to an e-mail Feedback from Dennis Jenkins in January of 2004, he once owned this car. His car was sold to someone in San Diego about 20 years ago and he does not know what happened to it. It was a 4-speed ’75 with the original wheels and a black vinyl interior. Ed. (MOST LIKELY BAD INFO!)

According to the December 1994 Region 3 newsletter, this car was offered for sale by Joseph Leposky of Stagers Chevrolet-Buick in Portage, PA 15946 and 814 736-9686, and was still on the MSO. The asking price was $12,000. This calls into serious question the recollection of the next entry. The car was black/black with a rear defogger, posi, AM/FM, and only 33 miles.

A Bob Chin car at one time. In October 1991 he wrote: My next project? It looks like a repaint for #1591. It looks pretty shabby now so I guess a repaint is in order just to make it look “right.” I’ve been driving it around with primer spots just to cover up the surface rust areas and the looks of it has started to bother my ego. The front fenders off of orange #3179 will be used to replace the rusty ones on #1591. Other than that, it’s the usual crummy checked black paint that will have to be stripped before I can repaint it.
It got the new paint jog in early 1992. He used roll tape to put the stripes on, and the front fender decals from the Club’s special offering.

The car hasn't been driven in a few years and is part of a private collection of cars that needs to sell quickly. (She's losing her storage building). The car has 44,000 original miles and is very solid. If you have any questions, please give me a call....thanks, Ken Listed On Craigslist in Indiana 12-6-16

According to Steve Proctor (304-263-7276) in January of 2008, he now has this car. He has had it for “a couple years” and got it in a trade from Gus Bartoli (301-663-4904) who was the original owner. The car is black/black vinyl, has swingouts, rear defogger, floor mats, AM/FM, rear speaker, and the underhood light package. It has the louvers on the hatch glass. It has less than 800 miles, has never been titled, and runs and drives. The high pressure pump has been replaced, the paint is beginning to craze, and it has a few dents from “acorns” falling onto it. It also has new tires. The car is located near Martinsburg, W VA, about 6 miles from routes 9 and I-81. According to Richie Bastardi, “I went to see the car in West Virginia/Maryland over the summer. Drove 9 hours straight (was so excited). The car is untitled. Gus Bartoli is the original owner. Problem was that in the 1980's and 1990's the car was left in the owner's driveway outdoors (he bought a new corvette that year and the Cosworth was brought outside) and the frame is rust/rotted bad and the body, interior, under hood, etc. was basically shot. He got it running for me but it was rough. Needed a complete overhaul...I have pictures (they were taken with a Polaroid) although they are misleading. He wanted 15k for the car back then!! (And I assumed for that price that the car would be untitled and pretty close to perfect). My opinion is that it needs at least 15k of work (and body work and new paint) so it would be cost ineffective. I would have offered Gus 3-4k only for the car and he basically wanted to sell it bad and asked me to "make an offer". Because he was asking $15k I didn’t want to insult him with 3-4k so I drove back another 800 miles quite disappointed...(Gus is about 70 years old and had the title in his pocket when I arrived.. Here’s the photos he sent me. You can call him and tell him I said hello- he is quite a nice gentleman and involved with the Corvette club in Maryland” According to the MSO, the VIN is 1V77E5U261066. It was shipped to Jim Halley’s Chevrolet Oldsmobile, of 1200 N Maple Avenue, Brunswick, MD 21716 on September 10, 1975. Its shipping weight was 2463. On January 14, 1977, it was transferred to Jack Amatucci Chevrolet Oldsmobile of the same address. Apparently the ownership of the business changed. Then on February 14, 1977 the MSO was transferred to Gustave J. Bartoli of 2300 W 4th St., Frederick, MD, 21701. No price was specified. His current address is 6616 Mountainview Drive, Frederick, MD 21702.

Richard Bastardi of New York was trying to purchase this car in early 2007. He didn’t because it was in much worse condition than he expected based upon the mileage and the representations of the seller.

According to a September 2005 e-mail to the CVOA, this car has been parted out. It was bought by John Baker of Augusta, WV as a donor car for a Lotus 7. He did consider rebuilding it, but it was “too far gone on the rear fenders.” 304 496-8258. baker@raven-villages.net

Appeared for sale on eBay in August of 2005 in poor condition: this is a no-reserve of a 1975 Cosworth Vega coupe. The high bidder above the $1000.00 starting bid will become its new owner. We acquired this car with a clear & re-assignable PA title to be a project for our own enjoyment. Well obviously that never happened, and now it’s time to give someone else the opportunity to own it and maybe even take the time to finish up what it needs to be really nice. This car runs and drives but should have a new timing belt right away to avoid any internal engine damage by it breaking. I will be adding more photos as soon as I get a working camera. There are several damaged parts on the body, one of which is the hood from a tree branch in a recent storm. That’s one of my reasons I decided we would sell it after that happened. I do have another Vega here with some parts too. I will be adding more info. Also, you may e-mail your questions to. Rgallen@allensautosalvage.com or phone Allen’s Auto Sales & Salvage at 717-766-4685 in Lewisberry, PA. A $35.00 clerical fee will also apply to this sale. VIN is 1V77E5U261193. It has 83,057 miles.

This was Jim Blunden’s first Cosworth. It was a black, black vinyl car with Webers and 44k miles in late 1994. It had an excellent interior, a solid body, new Goodyear Eagles, new exhaust, new brakes and dash bezel. It had swing-outs and tinted glass and was his daily driver. He said it needed paint way back then.
Jim put the short block from it on eBay in April of 2004. He wrote, “This CV short block is out of my first CV #1597. This car was sold to a man in Camp Hill, PA a number of years ago. CV #1597 was sold with a used engine installed by the owner before me. It was a good running and driving car when sold. I paid his CVOA membership so he should be in the CVOA membership files. The numbers off of the short block are as follows, also-the stampings are VERY poor/light: Tonawanda number = 1583, TO715ZCA, VIN #15U261193. Jim

#1599 2nd Original owner in Pennsylvania was Michael Price ,3rd owner is Gerald Cross. In February of 2005 he wrote: “For the past year I have been playing with a DIY EFI computer to give me laptop tuning ability of an EFI system. This system, by its nature, is very similar to the D-Jet system in that it is a speed density system/Coolant/Air Temperature that adds O2 feedback. I have been playing with the installation of one on 1599 and am intrigued how easy it adapts to the wiring and sensors of the Cosworth. Of course, the CV Bendix sensors do not work with this new system, however off the shelf GM coolant/temp sensors work well. And Fast Idle air can be controlled by an off/on solenoid, just as the CV. Later I can add a stepper IAC control.” Black/ Black Vinyl VIN-?
