Facebook Market place Ad - Hermantown, MN
I got this car from the original owner who purchased it new, drove it until 1981 and then parked it in his basement garage until I got it in 2018. The electronic fuel injection was not working and its hard to find parts for that so I installed 2 Harley big twin carburaters on it. It now runs perfect with just 35K on it. I found out later that it probably is the ecu that is suspect. There are new tires on it, it drives and handles very good. The front passenger fender has a dent and the bumper was bent slightly in the process. Very minor rust but definitely needs a paint job. Have all original parts for the fuel injection. Car is all stock accept for the carbs. The XL ENT plates do not go with it. Price is firm. Sorry. Calls are best. 218-343-nine zero seven four.

CVOA Facebook Post:
I purchased #1605 on Sept 23, 2014 from Diamond Auto Inc, in Fern Glen PA. I found it on Ebay and having always wanting one, decided to bid on it. I emailed back and forth with the seller to find out a little more about her. She was originally purchased in PA and had 2 owners prior to me. I was told the last owner purchased the car in the late 1970's with just over 18,000 miles on her. She was driven only in good weather and never in the winter. However, in 1994, the fuel pump in the gas tank went bad and the owner put her in the garage with 75,008 miles on her. However, as life does, things kept getting in the way and she never ran again. In early Sept of 2014 I came across the auction for her. I had always wanted a Cosworth and admired the one that was on display at Welch Brothers Chevrolet in Texas City, in 1975. But at 16 years old, I did not have the kind of money Chevy wanted for one. Over the years I looked a several Cosworth Vegas as I came across them, but they were either too expensive, too rusty or the original motor was long gone. However, that all changed in early September 2014. So, after I won the bid and eventually got her to Pearland, I went over her with a fine tooth comb. The Pennsylvania inspection sticker had expired in June of 1995 which matched up with what the seller told me. She came equipped with the Rear Window defroster, AM/FM radio, pop open quarter windows and Posi traction rear end. I pulled the gas tank and had it cleaned and coated and sent the sending unit/fuel pump off to be restored. I replaced all the fuel lines and filters as well as refurbished the brakes. Once everything was back together, she started right up and purred like a kitten. Next I installed a new set of tires and she was ready to see the road again. Inside however, she needed a bit of work. There was a tear in the drivers seat, an after market "Mark Donahue" signature steering wheel and the carpet was in taters. The drivers Sun Visor would not stay up and the clock did not work. When I drover her she ran very well, but when cold the gears did not mess well when I down shifted. Additionally, she tracked a little off, which turned out to be the Pan hard bar being old and bent a little from age and abuse. I replaced the Pan hard bar with an adjustable one and got the rear end centered under the car again and now she drives straight and true. I had a 2 1/2 inch exhaust built from the Header back to a small muffler over the rear end and a single tail pipe out the drivers side. I allows her to breath and run well, but the noise is a bit much. My wife calls her the angry sewing machine. But, I love her and she has not let me down once since we started our partnership, (I love my wife too). So, here it is almost 7 years later and she has new carpet, new seat covers, a rebuilt transmission and she still turns heads where ever she goes.

Listed on eBay in January of 2013: 1975 Cosworth Vega. 4 Cylinder Engine. 4 Speed Manual Transmission. 2WD. This all-original 1975 Cosworth is one of 2,061 cars produced for the '75 Model Year. This vehicle has only 55,200 actual miles, and has all of the rare and difficult to find cosworth vega parts right where the factory installed them. Assembled at gm's historic Lordstown, Ohio manufacturing facility, and finished in standard issue. 1975 Cosworth Vega code 19 black acrylic lacquer, cv number 1606 is clean. The car has remained in all original, non-repaired condition thanks in small part to gm's anti-rust improvements, and in large part to immaculate maintenance and care given by loving owners throughout its life. With 110 horsepower and a 6,500 rpm redline, the Cosworth Vega was one of the hottest performing cars available in 1975 and featured a hand-built mill from gm's Tonawanda engine plant that was individually signed by its builder on a sticker that occupies the cam cover. At the bottom of this sophisticated Chevrolet, an original Saginaw 4-speed manual transmission, sends power to an original 10 bolt rear end that's packed full of stout 3.73 gears. Holding that sports car drive-train off the ground is an original F41 heavy duty suspension which includes a 'torque arm' rear end for optimum rear axle power control, larger rear stabilizer bars, Vega GT springs and shocks, provisions for the Vega's "fast steer" option and front disc brakes. At the corners of the car, 13" British-made, gold-painted cast aluminum wheels spin chrome lug nuts and satin finished Chevrolet center caps. Take a look inside this pristine Cosworth Vega and you'll find the typical all business/no compromises black interior that these cars have built a reputation for. If you're a serious collector who's been searching for something rare and unique, here's your opportunity to own one of the nicest and most under-appreciated cars on the planet. This car has new tires and a new battery. I am selling my house and losing my garage... I would like this car to go to someone that will take good care of it.

Appeared on eBay from North Carolina in July of 2004: This is a very clean 1975 Cosworth Vega with a 350 V-8 conversion and a 350 Turbo auto transmission. I do not have a lot of history on this car but when I first saw it I noticed the absence of rust especially around the front a back glass and around the wheel wells. I purchased this car approximately one year ago and since then I have completed an engine overhaul due to bad engine machine work from previous owner (400 miles on engine rebuild) to include rebuilding the (650 cfm Holly) carburetor, rebuilding the starter, rodding out the radiator, new hoses and belts, new 835 cranking amp Exide battery, new fuel filters, new universal joints and shocks. Car has original Cosworth rims and Goodyear Eagle tires. I have completed all of the interior paint and most of the interior cosmetics, new paint in the engine compartment/hood, new paint in the hatch compartment including the hatch itself, and have completed painting the doors and doorjambs. The few things that need to be finished on the car are the body paint, replace the glove box latch, replace the side window seals (have already purchased them) and to replace the original Cosworth stripes and lettering (also already have them purchased). I will include a nearly complete parts car (no title but have a bill of sale). Exterior will be painted prior to sale. The car number is #1612 and is registered with the Cosworth Vega Owners Association.” Miles are 32120 and the VIN is 1V77E5U261599

a little about these cars
Introduced in 1975, the Cosworth Vega was a limited edition sports model of the popular Vega compact car. Featuring a 2.0L inline 4 cylinder tuned by the famous Cosworth Engineering Ltd in England, the Cosworth Vega pumped out 110hp and featured an aluminum block, 16 valves, dual overhead camshafts and forged pistons. The car was limited to 5,000 units, with dealers fighting for slots to get a single car to sell, however a change in the market meant that just 3,508 were produced, making it a very rare English/American classic.
Finished in the only color available, Black with Gold accents. The body is straight and free of rot and the paint is faded , with primer on the passenger door and fender. A rear hatch with heated rear window, cowl hood with decals, and A unique plaque shows the special serial number of each car.

Chevrolet Other . I took #1615 for a shake down test drive! She did very well. Adjusted the shift linkage, double checked timing, set warm temp idle to 1500 rpm, adjusted a bracket on the exhaust hanger to eliminate a rattle before the test drive. Car drove great. Transmission is useable, but bad synchros and the yellow speedo gear has come free, so speedometer doesn't work. But other than that, she drove great! 29,000 miles on her, she's roadworthy again, last on the road in the early 1990s! (The car is originally from the San Francisco area, explains the transmission issues! When I had the engine out to re-gasket it, the clutch disc was REALLY worn out. Replaced that with a new one. This car ended up being sent to Michigan in the 80s to be stored, and the owner sold it. bought it out of a barn last fall, and we got to work to get her roadworthy). Car comes with a spare Used 4 speed transmission, condition unknown.
Undercarriage is extremely solid. No Rust. The only rust area is under the battery tray area. Battery tray is bolted in and safe.
Paint is not Perfect! See pics for paint condition. Definitely could use a new paint job.
Re-gaskets engine, no leaksNew Clutch diskReplaced Exhaust system with a good useable system I had from a different carNew Tires, 205 60 R13 Bought last yearRims are in great shape, restored a few years back, but in great shapeReplaced Carpet, and padding under carpetReplaced Dash bezel with a much better one Replaced EFI Computer, original one from car is bad (I will throw in the bad computer, they can be fixed)Refurbished In tank sending unit, fuel gauge worksReplaced the carpet along the back of the top rear seat.Checked brakes, great pedal and pads on front and rear in great shape.

Hi John,
I owned the car back in the mid 1990's in San Francisco. I had it shipped to Michigan and stored in my dads barn for a few years until he sold it to someone in that area. I have some pictures of the car from back when I got it that I would like to get to the owner if we can find them.
I have one somewhat blurry picture of the dash number and it appears to be #1315?
The car had a black interior and a Hutton dual weber kit with all of the stock EFI parts in a box in the back. It had about 28k miles and had original paint that had already started to check on top. It was a blast to drive and got fun around 4,000 rpm.

Offered on eBay in March of 2004. “1975 Cosworth Vega # 1616. This is a true Arkansas "Barn Find", one that has been sitting in a Southern garage for the last 15 years. Recently ‘discovered’, we couldn't stop ourselves from rescuing it and have begun to make plans to fully restore it, as it really is an excellent example of a rare Cosworth, and in pretty decent condition. IT NEEDS PAINT, and little else. However, I am in the middle of doing the frame on my Daytona/Ford, and have two other cars ahead of this one, so I am thinking that there might be somebody out there that wants to take on this project, someone truly in love with this car. I am not going to waste time going over the merits and write-ups on the Cosworth/Vega, as anyone interested already is well aware of this spectacular car. I will say that if we don't sell it, it will go under the "knife", be media blasted to remove all paint, and return to the world as a renewed example of a rare classic car. This Cosworth is unmolested and complete. Found in a garage in West Arkansas, this Cosworth still has it's 1982 Arkansas Tag, and only 25,698 miles. A new battery and 5 gals of gas, and down the road it went. Yes, it road drives, but don't expect to drive it home. This is a twin cam engine, and should have a new timing belt installed before much use. You can do it, because the rare Service and Overhaul Manual by Chevrolet, comes with the car. The fast idle valve is stuck, and you should expect to do a tune-up, although with the HEI ignition not much is required. Engine starts easily, and does not have strange noises or smoke. Clutch is good, and transmission shifts ok. Brakes work. Car road drives, so transportation is cheaper. Body is in good condition, not dinged and dented, and only MINOR surface rust at end of both rain gutters (normal). Spare tire well has minor rusting (normal). Car NEEDS paint!!! Typical paint checking of these cars is normal. Interior looks like a car with 26,000 miles. Only exception is carpet on rear of rear-seat-back needs to be replaced. There is a cut in the driver’s seat that looks like someone had a tool in their left hip pocket--otherwise interior looks like a car with 26,000 miles. Tires are decent, correct wheels, lugnuts, and wheel centers. There is a 5th correct rim in the trunk. Stainless Steel Bumpers are good. The Air Dam has minor damage at very bottom. Everything above is observations and NOT warranty or guaranty. Car is sold as-is. Car comes with Bill of Sale and clean Title. Reserve is realistic...making this an affordable investment in a nice car!!!!! VIN is 1V77E5U261713. Mileage is 26,598.” Photos belie some claims, especially mileage—car condition suggests 126,598. Dash is wholly faded, front cover missing from engine, seat split consistent with heavy usage, one boot missing from throttle body, cam cover paint mostly flaked off, #4 plug wire clip missing, hood pad missing. Car does have the under hood light—indicative of accessory lighting package—does not appear to have rear defogger. Ed.
