Posted in June, 2005: #2911 is now back on the road, after losing valve guides into the motor, and
procuring another motor. Thanks Eric! Re‐gasketing and all the fun of valve shims‐measure, measure,
measure. It fired up Sunday afternoon, running well, with very high rpms. Found out that I had left the
fast idle valve open and had an 8" hose not put on yet. Thanks Mark! I am learning very quickly about
these cars. I took her out for a spin, to the gas station and on the way home hit the freeway for a quick
spin, until, on the onramp she died, fired back up and made it about a 1/2 mile until she died again.
Towed her back home, found no spark from the coil, replaced the coil, and now she runs great! Gary

Acquired by Gary Parkes (gary@morgansound.com) in May of 2003. Hi to all. I just acquired a '76
Cosworth #2911. I am the 5th owner of #2911, it is a '76 black, w/ white interior, 5‐speed, AM radio, and
only 29k miles. I am new to the Cosworths but I have had a total of 17 H bodies so far. I currently own a
'72 Vega 262 5‐speed, 2.56 Monza post set up 4 link W/Torque arm and now this CV. I am in the process
of trying to find out the history of this car, it has only 28,375 miles. Car is in great shape‐‐just needs to
be washed. I'll post photos as soon as I get the outside washed; interior is white and is immaculate. The only thing I know so far is that the tach is not working properly. Any ideas where to get one fixed? For now I was going to put a 7k tach in it so I know how it’s running. But first I am going to change all fluids, hoses and belts. As soon as I get a chance to get in the garage and do all this I will be able to take it for a spin. I have only driven it 10 miles home and it drove like new, very tight steering, brakes and all. Doors are perfect I can't believe that I finally own a Cosworth. I remember the first one I saw drive buy in the late 70's and thought what a cool sounding exhaust as he wound it up. Well time for me to get back to work (not online at home). If anyone has any info on where I can get a manual or books on CV's, please let me know. Any info is appreciated. Gary Parkes g.parkes@verizon.net

Does anybody know where I can find a grill & header piece for my '76? Some moron backed into me last
Saturday in a parking lot. Only had the car 3 weeks, so now my 29k mile car that only had a dime size
door ding in it now will need a new grill, & possibly a bumper also. I am now going to be taking it in for
estimates. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also are the Cosworth grills different from regular
Vega grills? I only know about early year parts 71, 2 & 3. Not yet familiar with the later years. Thanks.
Gary Parkes
Gary, sorry to hear about your misfortune ‐ but the parts you are seeking are the same as other 76
Vegas ‐ and are generally listed on eBay ‐ may still be available in some used parts (junkyard) lots. The
bumper may be different ‐but I believe it is the same as a regular 76 GT Vega ‐ hopefully, the rubber
parts are ok and can be reused if necessary. Reed

I am replacing gaskets and b4 I take the timing belt off my ’76, I notice when the timing marks on the
cams are lined up the timing mark on the crank pulley reads about 9 degrees ATDC, the car runs good,
but after reading in the manual under timing belt installation, "position #1 at TDC and align all timing
marks on camshaft sprockets so that they are in a straight line...am I over thinking this? Is TDC on #1 O
on the crankshaft marker? What would the valves be at with #1 at TDC? I will hold off on pulling the belt
until I get the right answer. Thank you for your help! Gary Parkes, CV 2911

According to a March, 2014 membership application, this car belongs to Alexander “Alex” Mueller of
Macon, GA. Alex is in the Air Force. He was a member years ago. No VIN provided.
According to a Yahoo post in October of 2014 by huntermueller22 (Hunter Mueller) of Macon GA:
Would anyone be remotely buying my 76 Cosworth? It has 61k miles, runs, the dash #2917
I am 16 and have an overwhelming amount of parts for my 76. I have 3 total cosworth engines, a Vega
block, 3 extra transmissions (2 5speed and 1 4speed), spare head, 2 spare exhaust manifolds, intake,
injectors, rear deck, every glass piece, weather stripping, complete decal set, new gold dash plate,
gauges, injectors, multiple head gaskets, multiple gasket sets , 2 owners, manual (one for each year), 2
overhaul manuals. water pumps, multiple wiring harnesses, an extra ECU, 15 total tires (2 Cosworth sets and 1 set of Vega gt). all of the black panels from a 75, I have all the Cosworth specific tools, fuel pumps and filters I have so much stuff that I didn't even list. Things I have done to it:

I have replaced both fuel pumps personally pressure washed the inside of the tank replaced ALL of the fuel line
New Battery
new injector seals
Water pump
front brakes
new master cylinder
brake fluid
transmission fluid
antifreeze
spark plugs
engine oil
oil filter
air filter
clutch cable

With being 16, this car isn't very practical for me because although mechanically it is great, it still needs
interior and bodywork/paint which are things that I can't financially do myself. Preferable I'd ask around
6k for everything so I can by something more practical for me. According to an email, the VIN is
1V77O6U207193, and he wants $6k for the car and $15k for "evrything".

Everyone, just joined the club. The reason I joined is; I have inherited two Cosworths and need to do something with them. Keeping them is not an option so moving forward, how is the best way to give these a good home? One is a shell essentially, it's rotted out from the bottom up but still has its engine, drivetrain and wheels. It's a '76, number #2938. It can work as a parts car for certain items I'm sure. It was bought on the cheap specifically for that purpose... a parts car. And, surprisingly it's a roller, even left outside the tires have air. Now... the second one I drove as a teenager in 78-79. It's near and dear to my heart. It's #3315 and is a one owner car with approx. 42K miles. It has been garaged since 1983. It's last registration was in the early 2000's
