It's a 4 speed with 54,156 miles. I'm from Bronson. I think my Brother bought it in the 80s. He bought it from a dealer second owner. The story was it was originally purchased in Texas. The owner was in the military and had it shipped to Hawaii then to coldwater.

Ah, that makes a bit of sense. A lot of the colored ( non black) CVs were sold in the South. I've been in the CVOA for quite some time, and through the 80s into the 2000s my dad was the Regional Director for the CVOA in Michigan.
Was your brother ever in the CVOA, even briefly for a year or so?

Orange is a cool color for a CV. I've had a couple of them myself over the years.

my Brother always kept this car inside and rarely drove it. I'm not sure why he stopped driving it. It's in very good shape. My parents are getting older and I thought it would be col for them to see it running again.

According to an email from Mike Reed, “I own three Cosworth Vegas. All three were stored in a barn in
Michigan that was destroyed by a tornado on Friday, August 24. The insurance company has totaled all
three vehicles. However, there are a lot of parts in these cars that are in perfect condition. Engines,
entire drive lines, bumpers, wheels, interiors, dashes, hoods, etc. I am trying to contact someone with
an interest in Cosworth Vegas who knows of a person or business who might be interested in purchasing
these vehicles from the insurance company for parts. I have been unable to locate any of the officers or
personnel associated with the Cosworth Vega Owners Association. I'm hoping you can steer me to
appropriate e‐mail addresses and/or phone numbers. It would be a shame to see all these parts get lost
along the line somewhere. One of them is #1469. It has approximately 18,000 original miles
(white/white 5‐speed, never seen rain or snow). It was in perfect condition before the storm, needing
only tires, cleanup and starting.”

My car is #3377 and it has a Yenko metal sign on the back above the Cosworth sign at the left
taillight. Does this mean anything special? THANKS. Mike Hart mikart@murlin.com August, 2003.
The dash tag is 3377, the outside is a maroon color and the interior is tan. It doesn't have many options;
it does have a five‐speed and AM/FM radio. The paint is all‐original, except for touch up on the
passenger door; it has 18,750 miles and the interior/exterior is pretty cherry. Mike

Hi: I’m trying to get some information about a VIN number. I have a 1976 Cosworth Vega. However the
VIN number reads 1V77O6U227375 and the title lists it as a 1977 Chevy. Car has the Cosworth motor
and etc. The dash plate number is 3382. Can anyone decode the above VIN number and tell me what
years this is and what the numbers mean? I’m trying to get the title corrected if this is a 1976. Thanks.
Jerry
Hello Jerry: Based on the VIN (and on the incredibly helpful and feature packed CVOA website that
CVOA membership supports), here are the results : This Tag is/was originally affixed to a 1976 Chevrolet
Motor Division Vega body assembled at Lordstown, OH. The Lordstown factory installed a Cosworth
Vega engine that had been assembled in Tonawanda, NY into this body. It then built this vehicle as a
Cosworth Vega model. It was the number 127375 Vega built for this production year. The Lower Left
Corner of the BODY TAG of this car should read: 227375C90.
1V77 is Vega hatchback
0 is the Cosworth engine
6 is model year 1976 (not sure about this one)
U is Lordstown assembly plant
227375 is the sequence number
These are from memory; I can check the manuals tonight.
Gary Derian
Jerry: I believe the second digit is the car line (V as in Vaga) and the sixth digit (6 as in 1976) is the year. Allan
