Here is the eBay listing: 1975 Cosworth Vega. Dash code #0171. 22,210 original miles. Options: RARE
white vinyl interior, am/fm radio, rear speaker, rear window defrost, side rear window swingouts, door
edge guards, posi rear end with 4:10 gears, 4 speed trans, aluminum block 4 cylinder duel overhead cam
engine with EFI. I am the second owner of this vehicle. I bought it off my neighbor (original owner)
almost 11 years ago. I have a copy of the original title, purchase date, price, etc. As many of you know,
these cars had a tendency for the clear to crack. Well mine did also. I had the car taken to a professional
body shop, stripped to bare metal, primed, and base coat/clear coat to the finish you see. I also
purchased a new pin striping kit that I still have in the box (never installed) $200. As this project went
on I started a family and you know the rest of the story. I lost interest and here we are today. I figure if
you are looking at this car you already know what it is and may have a few questions. These wheels go
with the car. I also have the original Cosworth wheels for it that are off the car because I was in the
process of refinishing them. I have a quart of the proper gold color that goes with these also. The pin
stripping kit is still in the box. I also have the emission pipes that go on the motor, original owner took
them off for some reason. This car was in great condition when I bought it. My plan was to make it a
meticulous show car that was rare and would bring a lot of attention to itself. It never and still doesn’t
have any rust on it. It runs great and starts up every time. Vehicle is in great condition. It has a very nice
base/clear finish. As you can see the pin striping kit has not been applied, nor were the original wheels
put back on. Car runs and drives great. Wheel tread is 90%+. Very low mileage car. The bad part‐‐‐‐the
rear swingout molding is missing on the one side (was like this when I bought it). Also, the front spoiler
for the car (which I don’t know if it was an option or came on all of them) was slightly cracked when I
bought it. It is fiberglass and I tried to repair it but never put it back on the car. NO rust. I know these
cars were known for that. If the buy it now is used I will add the following parts that I have accumulated
over time: Another complete Cosworth Vega motor with the rare WEBER carbs on it. I mean top to
bottom...header still attached, bell housing, distributor, wires, another tranny. I believe I have another
hood, hatch glass, and another trans on top of this one. Please feel free to email me with any questions.
I tried to cover it all without boring you but I’m sure there are still some questions unanswered.

As for what car I purchased in your neck of the woods (Columbia Station, OH), it is dash #0171, VIN
#1V77E5U201791. John Dubovsky, Flint, MI. He paid $3500 for it, and it came with a spare engine
equipped with Webers. Had no windshield wiper arms or blades, a cracked spare wheel, chrome wheels
on the car, bc/cc paint with no stripes (they were included in the deal), and no hood pad. The car looks
clean, and John is trying to decide what to do with the car. December, 2004.

In June of 2010 this car was offered for sale on the H‐Body board. Chuck posted on the Yahoo board:
On the H‐body board, a lady is considering selling #0179. Here are her posts:
Hey Guys...I have a 75 Cosworth Vega I'm considering selling. Don't really want to get rid of it, but we
have 2 other h‐bodies and bills to pay, so...yeah. I'm not ready to sell it yet, but I thought I'd see if there
was any interest whatsoever in the car. The car has been kept in a garage for the last 20 some years and
is in pretty awesome condition. Thinking we're going to repaint it soon, too‐‐black and gold. Has the
original motor‐‐running and driving—though it's mostly been sitting since we bought it in 2008. Low
miles...no rust...going to need tires. I will post more info later such as actual mileage, production #, VIN,
etc. as well as some pics. Thanks! –Nika

According to an e‐mail in December of 2004: I got a ‘75 Vega Cosworth #0179 from my storage units. I
have a clear title. It has 48,298 miles and has been stored 15 years. The owner said it ran good when
stored. Car is very good outside, has a little surface rust and no large dents. I would like to know about
what it’s worth or if you know someone interested in it. Thanks Ron Granberg. Phone 608 362 4378,

1975 COSWORTH VEGA, VIN 1V77E5U202329. Wondering about the "E" stamp on the VIN...not sure if I
read it wrong?? Hard to read on the car, so I will have to dig out the title to compare. Was the letter E
even a choice in that position?? I didn't find it on the VIN decoder...forgive my ignorance! MILEAGE
48303. Plate on Dash lists Production #0179. Last registered in Wisconsin‐‐November of 1988. Dealer
tags state "Bob Salter Chevrolet‐‐Pensacola, Florida." She hasn't listed a price yet, but I can post more
when I find out. Chuck

Appeared for sale on eBay again for $12,500 in January of 2007 out of Duluth, GA. The ad read, “you are
bidding on a 1975 Cosworth Vega 4‐speed with 2,130 original miles. It is numbered 0187! It is black w/
white interior. The car is original in every way ‐ no modifications at all! I have a carbon copy of the
window sticker and some of the paperwork that I received. The car has an am‐fm 8 track radio, original
floor mats, original tires & wheels, original paint and stripes and interior. The interior is in new condition
and the exterior is excellent w/ the usually quality paint job offered by gm in those days! I do have an
extra set of the gold wheels and decent tires that i will throw in as well. The car drives great! Feel free to
call with legitimate questions ‐ 770.331.0999. Thank you for your time!”

Offered for sale on eBay in September of 2003: Here it is. The collector Vega you've been looking for!!!
Yes you read the mileage correctly. It has 2075 actual miles. I am the 3rd owner of this piece of
Chevrolet history purchased about 3 years ago and it had 1394 miles on it then. This car is #0187 of
2061 built in 1975. And one of 200 with a white vinyl interior. This is a totally original unrestored car.
Being such it's not perfect but close to it. The 28 year old paint still shines well but has some thin spots. I
have the original wheels and Goodyear radial tires that came from the factory. And also included of
course are the correct wheels and tires that are on the car. I found the carbon of the window
sticker under the passenger seat carpet plus included is a Service and Overhaul Manual Chevrolet
part#st‐353‐75. As mentioned the interior is white vinyl and is in excellent condition. In the time I have
owned the car I have won awards at Super Chevy Shows two years in a row. I welcome personal
inspections. Please e‐mail me with any questions. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
As mentioned in the description, paint is still shiny but has a few thin spots, 1 on the center hood crease,
1 on the edge of the hatchback lid. 1 on the top above windshield above driver’s door. The clock works
but doesn’t keep accurate time. It has the original AM/FM Stereo 8‐track player that powers up but
doesn’t work that great sometimes. Might have something to do with the antenna being in the
windshield. The gas gauge always reads full. The car drives and handles perfectly. 1V77E5U202847.

Recently purchased #0187. It had a few things missing. I’m trying to find an owners manual; 1 door
access plug; 1 battery hold down; 1 front license plate bracket; and 1 top stainless molding for the
driver’s side 1/4 pop out window. Thanks, Dan dankat44814
Dan, I show that #0187 was in Hemmings about 2 years ago for sale for $12,500 with only 1315 miles on
it. Is this the same car? I can help you out with all the parts you need. E‐mail me at cswrth1@aol.com.
Good luck, Chris

Jon Durr of VA says car is rusted out and parts are coming off it. Possibly in a wreck at one time. Half of car is parted out so far as of 11-6-2024.
Car is Black with White vinyl Interior.
Was part of a larger hoarder collection VA. Over 50 cars in the collection. Another CV is in the collection, possibly dash number #0160, but Jon Durr was not 100% sure. 4 CV engines were scrapped out of the hoarder collection. Owner was John?
